Dopesick is one of the most emotionally devastating series I’ve seen in quite some time. So expertly emotive and empathetic. The only downside here is that it may try and tackle a little too much for its runtime (even at 40 minutes), but the individual storylines are still so impactful in such a short amount of time that this is a mere minor nitpick. What a year to be sharing this story too, right as CODA is poised to make history in other categories!
It’s got a powerful message, but it feels a bit abrupt and incomplete. Hm. Still think it probably has the best shot to win the Oscar given the star power and the social sentiment, but this could’ve (and should’ve) been a home run, and it feels like it never got past the first draft.
