Paul spends the first act as the protagonist that we're cheering for-- and we can't understand why he is trying to avoid being "the man". He just keeps muttering about how his destiny is horrible. As the 3rd act finishes, the audience emotionally switches places with Paul. He's embraced his role as the blood-soaked messiah and we're wondering why we feel so wary of Paul's ascendancy. Definitely one of the most flawless films I've ever seen, from the cinematography to the soundtrack everything was masterfully done.
Dune 1 & 2 is the perfect examples of what happens when a great director with a clear vision is given creative control over a project they are truly ionate about/understand. Finding a director who loves the source material I think is the key to the future.
The eye twitching of Chani when she heard Paul say he will marry Irulan was chef's kiss but also very foul of him to do that to my desert spring princess.
