For a movie with so much silence the dialogue is incredible. Every line sounds like a Plato quote and Tarkovsky makes Tarantino look like a baby. Not to mention the incredible use of colour and cinematography - it’s just insane. I’m not gonna lie and act like I fully understand the film to every degree but I understand enough to conclude that it is a work of art. Fuck Damien Chazelle for putting me through that last 20 minutes. I’ve been wanting to watch this for years and now I’m sitting here at 2am after having my brain absolutely fried by this film. I signed up to a musical, no musical should make me this depressed. Most painful ending of any movie ever.
