Juan’s review published on Letterboxd:
watchable in its first part, outright idiotic & delightful in its second, and interminable in its third. the last of these plays out like if an episode of survivor had all its humor and exciting social observation stripped from it, leaving nothing at all.
surely someone will accuse me of laughing at lowest common denominator humor, but watching people barf and shit and scream and roll around endlessly while someone drunkenly spews marxist theory over a loudspeaker is infinitely more interesting than anything else in this film.
shout out to the group of french folks talking about how accurate the characters were and how much the film speaks to contemporary culture. can’t imagine being braindead enough to think östlund had a single insightful thing to say about humanity with this one.
