I love Bong Joon Ho. I love him when he’s subtle and direct. He can do no wrong. While this does have the unfortunate pressure of being the movie he made after Parasite, it was a funny and surprisingly optimistic film. The romance, the acting, the world, and how it was shot were fantastic. I did prefer when they did the double look with the symbology instead of the impression a particular actor was making that relates to our current…

“If you took Final Destination and allowed the deaths to be funny” is the entertaining surface of this movie, but I was surprised when it became something more about the shame and weight a secret can carry. Longlegs witnessed a secret come to light from the child’s perspective, while The Monkey is all from the parent's perspective. Also, a teaser for a third movie from Perkins!? I'm curious if it will complete this little trilogy or if this will be a fun little double feature.

A great cast with Pamela Anderson finally getting her dues while also proving she deserved it in the first place. Also has some very interesting looks into the world of Las Vegas workers. With that said, when I wanted to go further with themes and characters, it just went with vibes. Not the worst thing to happen but it can feel longer than it’s brief runtime because of it. Watch it for Pamela and the insanely talented ensemble behind her too.

This movie still haunts me in the best way possible. The last time I saw something so drenched in the Gothic atmosphere with a hint of the macabre and perverse was The Innocents. This is top notch filmmaking with extraordinary performances that gives so much respect to the previous films made before it but changes the lens to focus on Ellen’s agency to give it something entirely new.
This is the best kind of horror that brings familiar fears of losing one’s agency and translating it on such a grand and lush scale. Could not love this movie more even if I tried.
