Lots of clunky exposition and tropes, veering into unintentional self-parody at times ... but the final airplane sequence (almost) justifies the film.

]]>Feels like it was made in 1999 or so, amidst similar (but far better) films like Election, Fargo, and Wild Things. I wouldn't mind seeing a return of quirky, indie films of that ilk, but this one was trying to be a little too clever. Nicole Goodman is good, as always.

Loved the costumes and cars. Nothing else.
]]>Any time we were strolling through German city streets with butchers spilling blood onto cobblestones and fog-shrouded shipyards on the horizon, I was immersed. Sweaty NepoDepp interpretive trance dances were far less compelling. More Romani stuff woulda been nice, and fewer rats. Dug the gothic vibe, but wild shifts in tone were an issue, with some spectacularly hammy bits having the theater audience laughing in places they probably shouldn't have been.
]]>I only half-watched this, but it was enough to know, within the first 15 minutes, what it was all about. Die Hard Lite. That's being generous.
]]>Pretty much perfect.

]]>Just about perfect, after a shaky first five minutes or so. I loved it so much I went right back to see it the next day, which is something I never, ever do. A true delight.

]]>I know this film is getting beat up a lot, but I actually liked it better than the first film, because this one is more thoughtful, almost a commentary on the original film. Plus there's music.
