ittedly, didn’t love Dune. I appreciate for what it is and acknowledge how impressive it is, but it didn’t click for me. So with Part 2 rolling around, I wasn’t nearly as excited as others. When it got pushed back I didn’t even care much. The early reviews didn’t skyrocket my expectations. But it’s phenomenal.
For people like me, who wanted a bit more action and a story that felt grander, this is it. This is everything we could’ve asked for. The world sucked me in this time and the story is incredible. Slowly I started to realize what was truly taking place and everything just becomes terrifying. It’s a haunting story.
On a technical aspect the movie is on another level though. Everyone is going to have their favorite performance and they’ll never be wrong. I’m excited to see who stands out to everyone. For me, I absolutely loved what Rebecca Ferguson did. She’s bone chilling for the entire runtime. Timotheé Chalamet and Austin Butler are both awesome too, and it’s undeniable that the movie doesn’t work without Chalamet, especially by the final act. Everyone is great too, Zendaya, Bardem, Bautista and I’m also really looking forward to seeing more of Pugh.
The fact that people can create these visuals blows my mind. Insane stuff that leads to top notch sequences. Anything with sandworm hits hard. The score fits the movie perfectly as well. It’s so fucking good.
I’m glad I came into these one with my own reservations because it allowed the movie to really blow me away like I didn’t expect. We are likely watching an era defining trilogy, and that’s not an exaggeration.
