]]>It's no Andor, but fun to revisit after all these years.
]]>Far from perfect but a lot of fun
]]>it is so criminally fucked up that this movie ended
]]>THE quintessential western

]]>Flawless, and not a second too long or short.
]]>This may sound weird but I loved how unnecessarily long this was, especially for what I thought was supposed to be a YA novel adaptation. Boy was I wrong.
]]>Underrated banger since day one

]]>My guy Soderbergh does it again. I bet he shot this in like 2 weeks, too...

]]>Not as bad as I expected from a McG Terminator film...
]]>Who needs chemistry when you have Phil Hoffman?
]]>Watched on Thursday February 13, 2025.
]]>This movie was set in 1985
]]>Magnificently sincere, never rushed, absent any cliché or half-baked 'quirk' that has plagued many recent films in this genre, with bold and poignant photography to boot.
]]>Never fully appreciated Demme’s genius until this screening. Holy moly.
]]>Charming like a Wes Anderson film, but without the clever writing or unique aesthetic.
]]>Watched on Friday January 24, 2025.
]]>fuck... this one kind of snuck up on me.
]]>Mostly mad that Fincher didn’t get to finish this trilogy.
]]>This was cute and way sexier than I anticipated
]]>Maybe I’m a chump but I love a corny flick. Attractive people, exotic destinations, bad acting, bad writing and I was completely charmed.
]]>This review may contain spoilers.
My first review was too hasty, this is a 5-star film. My few issues with it on first viewing are easily looked past for the poetry and craft of the picture and the story it tells. The Brutalist is a film that, like its title character I fear, won’t be adequately appreciated by contemporary audiences for it simply is not of this time.
The fidelity of the VistaVision transfer to uncropped IMAX digital was truly stunning. Between this and the 70mm I caught in Burbank, I would recommend the IMAX.
Screened in digital IMAX at Irvine Spectrum
]]>Screened in stunning 70mm at AMC Burbank 16
In a word: Monumental.
Looking forward to seeing it again.
The historical epic that Ridley Scott wishes he could make.

]]>After more than a century they’ve finally nailed my biopic.
]]>The quintessential Christmas Carol. Two heckling Marley’s, Michael Caine, timeless musical numbers, and Tiny Tim - who did NOT die!
But in all seriousness, every stage production of this henceforth should include these Henson Co. songs.
]]>To those who doubt the existence of perfection, I counter: this with a bag of peanut m&ms on a chilly night.
]]>Edward Berger is a craftsman who has already mastered the form.
]]>I got 2:04 into this and the big climax/set piece is just starting. Not sure if I'll return to finish the last 20+ minutes.
But maybe someday...
Someday...
]]>Do a barrel roll!
]]>The 1977 edit of this movie is special in such a strange, campy, cozy way. The effects, score, editing, and Lucas’s vision create such a magical effect.
]]>I watched this again the other night and thought it was very good.
]]>This didn’t win a single Oscar.
]]>Watched on Thursday November 21, 2024.
]]>I love love. I love America.
]]>Can’t stop thinking about this one… been a fan of Reitman since Juno and I think this manages to be among his best work. Given the timing of its release I think this is bound to be under-appreciated.
