This was like Are You Afraid of the Dark but for 90s kids who are grown up. I enjoyed the dreamcore aesthetic, but the casting really paid it off. While the movie centers around identity, I felt a big part of it is that arrested development that many of us millennials feel. Are we trapped?
This is the worst film I’ve seen in my entire life 20 years later I’m still incensed by it. The only people who enjoyed Traffic were white people patting themselves on the back for indulging in diversity through proxy without having to actually do anything themselves.
Deadpool and Wolverine was a love letter to edgelord dickheads. I felt seen. Every line was a reference. Every side character and vehicle was a reference. There’s a lot of people that are calling this movie “slop” - but I think it’s an exercise in unrestraint and a pause in the need to be so effing serious all the time. Think of it like a standup special with guns.
