Pee-wee Herman still scares me but the overall charm of the movie set and his philosophical moments won me over. This reminded me how much I miss Tim Burton’s earlier films. If you kine Pee-wee Herman, you may like The Forbidden Zone.

I tried so hard in 1999.

This is a solid 3-star movie but I watched this with my son and we were stressed. We enjoyed the ending heroics and appreciate that no dogs die or attack any kids. I also forgot that there are some supernatural elements but they don’t really add anything substantial to the plot.
