I won't be able to formulate a full review immediately but I'll just summarize my first impressions without being all over the place as best I can!
As a massive fan of the book I can say there are areas in which I think this film absolutely could've used more (and I WILL be pushing for an extended cut) but in of adapting and translating the backhalf of this book into one absolutely massive 3-hour epic, I think they did an absolutely incredible job.
Film is a visual medium where "Show don't tell" is among the most important rules of all, and I think that by expanding upon much of the summarized material from the book, Villeneuve and this amazing crew have managed to craft something that truly warrants its own existence both for fans of the book and the average moviegoer.
Ultimately though, what was once said to be an unadaptable book has somehow successfully been adapted into a 5-hour epic like no other. Dune Part Two is a massive film that strikes a balance between intimacy and spectacle unlike any other film within this genre, successfully bringing to life one of the most important and influential novels of all time in the most grand and earth-shattering way possible. Also just as cold and miserable and ending as one would hope!
Final note: IMAX experience was among my absolute favorite theater experiences ever! The battle sequences are so utterly breathtaking that someone audibly shit their pants in the theater!! CINEMA IS BACK BABY‼️‼️‼️
