You’re telling me that if Cate Blanchett gave you a private and sensual dance, then propositioned you, that you wouldn’t accept?  I mean it’s just not believable.

A fascinating portrait of Barcelona in the throes of civil war.

The voiceover provides a simple pro-republican message, and the film itself is fairly well-shot (the tracking shot of a parade is particularly memorable). However, the real interest lies in the images of bombed out buildings and the crowds of revolutionaries in the streets. These details are a treasure trove for anyone interested in mining the mood or minutiae of the Spanish Civil War.
