it was well done but so fucked up

a lot of this was very very funny, but it was also very anxiety inducing (in a good way). i think they had an a24 moment and tried to be subversive like 3 different times but it never kept and imo wasn’t the greatest, like if you’re gonna shirk expectations, stick with it. anyways, we should still be in afghanistan.

honestly i was thinking about giving this a 3 or 3.5 til the end twist, that was crazy. charmingly dated special effects, really cool how all the characters dovetailed, really cool period film, doesn’t really have a whole bunch to say about the human condition which is why i like kitano, but still kickass.

not my favorite kitano film i’ve seen but still really really good. the way time and flashbacks were played with was interesting and even had me fooled til the end. super swaggy. def gonna rewatch. definitely felt more disted than his other stuff but whatever it still rocked. the music felt so familiar and im trying to think if i heard the score in an anime or video game or if its like just classical music rearranged idk. anyways yeah it was good

idk this movie rocked so hard, it didn’t have the slice of life stuff from the other ones but jesus christ the fight choreography was insane and the cinematography was so good. both the actresses are great, and the two older assassins were a great addition, not over used, and they felt so natural and not forced in

this was so cool, i love imax shit, the place it was filmed was so cool, i loved the sunday service arrangements, i love gospel music, the credits remix was so good i found a LQ pirated version and had it on my phone for like three years

this was pretty goated, maybe i need to watch it again when im trying not to piss my pants. makeup was awesome, actually gross but not overdone gore scenes, some epic nipples, lighting was super cool, interesting color grading.

idk man this was so fucking bad mid, like it was not only like boring and a lot,  tom cruise was the best actor and everyone else was just like not fit for the role. i LOVED the u settling mask scene when he’s surrounded, the emotion i felt felt like watching the shining l, so disturbed. the movie got way better after the party but it was still bad. it would be one and a half stars but the unsettling parts and then the old guy talking at the end pushed it up

was good, checked out for the middle 30-40 minutes and amde it back and it ended and was good. dont think i needed to see all of it. mel gibson moment

crazy good animation, really good english VA cast, crazy two batmen were in it and you couldnt tell it was them. story kinda suffered bc it felt like it just jumped on really quickly? usually w miyazaki movies, you can tell whats going on even if youre in some fantastical world but this didnt really feel like it? idk, i'd like to watch again in japanese and figure out whats going on w it. over all kicked ass, was a very quick 2 hours

its been forever since i watched this but i really really liked it. only bad thing was it was kinda distracting that famous actors played other famous people and at first when they appear it was distracting but they all did such a good job that a few seconds after they appeared it wasnt an issue anymore

one of the coolest anime films ive ever seen. crazy seeing this director whos work i was first exposed to at the age of 5 work shop his shit over like 10 more years making a protoype movie for this in a digimon movie and then just expanding it and changing it from the IP. lived up to the hype tbh, need to watch again

epic ass black cowboy horror sci-fi film. really crazy, thought it was super good, a bit eh in like two parts but crazy nonetheless

honestly one of the most visually striking movies i've ever seen. truly insane in every aspect. can't think of a single bad thing, other than spiderman 2099's reasons for doing what he did seem to come from before he accepted the fact that he's spiderman but he seems to have been doing it for a while. i guess that's the comic fanboy in me picking things to be mad about, but it was truly crazy. a little slow in parts, but it is the first half of a whole movie so I guess i can't be too mad bc it was still a great stand alone movie

Best superhero movie of all time. I loved how it was just a miniseries linked together. The length suited it and only about 15 minutes before the end did I wonder if it had perhaps gone on too long, which is impressive for an almost 3 hour feature. Need to watch again

First Kitano film I'd ever seen. I was blown away by how interesting the mundane parts could be. A masterful slice of life-type of movie where the everyday, typical events are interspersed with sudden violence. I love how beautiful the despair of existing is in this movie. Very epic, the waves in the background the entire time are enchanting and hypnotizing. Probably my favorite /film/ of all time.

Love Takeshi Kitano with my whole soul. This movie was very good, however I think some of the harm that came to the boy in it was a bit gratuitous. Looking at how this is more of a family film than any of his other films I've seen, I guess it is the equivalent of him blowing his brains out in any other. Besides that, it was a very precious movie. I found myself genuinely laughing and smiling throughout. Very based.
