this was honestly kind of all over the place and it being about/in Oakland is making me biased to like it more but idgaf I LOVE OAKLAND !!!! this was so cool and fun !!! i liked the pacing and acting despite a sometimes weak script and it made me smile enough to excuse a lot of the flaws. super engaging. i love it when NAZIS die!!

i thought the scene with the pandas was very moving

ok honestly i don’t care that this wasn’t necessarily “Good” or “well developed” because i watched it two drinks deep on an airplane and cried twice and also LOVE IS REAL

this is my second time seeing this, first time was the 4k restoration on my laptop in bed. this time it was 35mm at an old theater. very cool to feel like i got the original intended experience. 

love seeing all of lynch’s motifs and characters being so present, kind of a perfect introductory film to him but even better when you’ve seen all the others 

love thinking about ego, literal and metaphorical haunting, realms and layers, the ever present light and dark within our world and our own hearts. 

i did like it a little bit less on this watch for whatever reason - might have just been thrown off by the audience reactions 

I figured one day I’d just wake up and find out what the hell yesterday was all about. I’m not too keen on thinkin about tomorrow, and today's slipping by.

alex and i showed up to this 5 minutes late and high off our asses and we opened the door and it was just softcore porn and we had to do deep breathing for a couple minutes before we could enter without scream laughing 😭

was like 20 minutes late to this because the theater was in the mall and the mall was closed and we entered round 1 and the security searched me crazier than i’ve ever been searched in my life like why do we need a metal detector wand and a pat down at an arcade . please . my god . 

anyways then got seated and was fairly confused for a good bit trying to figure out the characters and setting. thought it was dragging at first but then got into the swing and really started to enjoy it. this is the first role i’ve seen lily depp in and she absolutely crushed it - outshined everyone. it was also insanely beautiful, especially any water shots (to be expected from eggers), but I do think he was holding back a bit in both color and atmosphere

genuinely laughed out loud when her husband tells her about count orlok and his darkness and his perversity and she just says “i know him” haven’t we all girl…

got to see this with my best friend for her first time (my second) in a theater … never kill yourself

silly, spooky (genuinely scary at points), memorable, warm. you can tell how much love and effort went into creating it. just so beautiful in every way

ok really didn’t expect to like this one this much! what a delightful and unpredictable journey. 

1. every 5 minutes my brain was going EVERYYYYYYYY CATHOLICCC KNOOOOWSSS HE COULD HAVE BEEN POPE

I believe in love. I mean there’s gotta be something for people to cling to besides TV, right?

You could make this movie today and have it be the exact same - the wording and the tone/issues. Everything is cyclical. 

I love Araki so god damn much I love his punchy lines I love his quirky outfits I love his non linear stories I love how DIY and punk it all is I love counterculture. Every film I’ve seen of his makes me go he just GETS IT !!!! 

Classic blending of hope/love/despair, but this one was a bit too nihilistic for me. The ending, while realistic, seemed abrupt and filled me with sadness and dread. I would have preferred if the phone rang and then it cut to credits but hey this is why I don’t make movies. 

Overall - laugh out loud funny, beautiful, thought provoking, and enjoyable. I really loved it and I also don’t think I’ll ever watch it again <3

I understand what this was trying to do and it does do well at capturing the feeling of loneliness but I think it overdoes it and then nothing else. Loneliness leads to boredom eventually. Also you’re a movie about cannibals please be a little more perverted

engaging right from the start and all throughout - i really enjoyed getting to know each nun and her practice, and even more enjoyed the side characters like Ayah and Joseph. humorous too, I laughed out loud a few times. Very beautiful landscape and lighting. And you know I love #YEARNING

ok honestly …. i don’t know! i don’t know how i felt about this! the acting was incredible, the entire run felt engaging and exciting, i loved every club scene - overall fun and i was hooked, but ….. it just didn’t get over the finish line for me. Mikey Madison acted her ass off but I wish Anora had been fleshed out more as a character. I wanted her internal dialogue and not just the caricature. But what really did it for me was the ending …. those last 10 minutes just felt weird as fuck and I can’t 100% place why

excellent title card. one of nicolas cage’s best roles. holly hunter was incredible too and they both looked great. got kinda slow in the third but it was sweet overall and the last 10 minutes pulled me back in. the furniture store subplot was funny and i genuinely chuckled at the final line

living in california just feels like this

this felt a lottttt longer than 90 minutes but it really picks up at the end! the somewhat slow start is interspersed with beautiful coastal shots and a great score so it’s still enjoyable. the light house radio station was so cool and adrienne barbeau is a great actress

last 20 minutes are perfect. incredible score and colors

makes you laugh … makes you cry … makes you h**** … really a perfect film. just so goofy. a joy and a delight to get to see on the big screen

i own three (3) texas chainsaw massacre shirts and had never seen it so it was time. the first half reaaaallllyyyy dragged for me but the final half is incredible.

pretty disappointed by this one tbh i thought i was gonna like it a lot more! the practical effects were cool and it was mostly well acted but otherwise it didn’t do anything for me. felt way longer than its runtime. plot felt all over the place. it was mean but it was trying too hard to be

in all seriousness i thought this was shot beautifully. all the actors were great despite a weak script. perfect runtime. well paced and fun!! also extremely misogynistic but aren’t we all on occasion

god i love Coraline SO much. went to see the remastered version and fully did not realize I bought it in 3D but it was fun. 
it feels special to see a movie you’ve seen a billion times in a new way. i notice new details every watch. this time around i really noticed the backdrop. the trees, the stars, the fog - oregon nature!! it was gorgeous. 
the set design/characters/music/colors/transitions in this are all so fun and well made. the amount of detail so clearly visible in every single frame. genuinely perfect imo 🖤

this was phenomenal. the subtle but electrifying music. the nature. the violence. any scene in the church. the acting. i thought it felt stiff the first half but by the second was completely entranced.

the exploration and intermingling of of everything in this is so earnest.

the only thing i didn’t completely love was the ending but i think i could come around on it. also i would have loved to see this in a theater and not my tiny bedroom tv

watched this in pieces over the course of a week while very distracted so i don’t think i can give it a fair rating but it didn’t spark much for me. loved the cat though

when i first saw Fleabag the Show, it was with my best friend. i enjoyed it but pretended to like it even more than i actually did because i knew how much it meant to her. i don’t think i fully connected. 

the second time i saw it was with my ex who i made watch it with me, after my best friend died, and they held me as i sobbed at the pivotal episode. i definitely connected that time. 

this time i saw the play for the first time. alone. i got a little too drunk, i cried a little too hard, i laughed a little too loud. it felt fitting.

phoebe waller bridge is a phenomenal writer and actor. it’s really incredible the emotion she can portray with just facial expressions and hand gestures - no props or other actors. she amazes me. and seeing the changes between play vs show was interesting. the heart and themes are still the same but a lot is gone. shocking to me that the priest was a show addition!!

everything means something else…and yet, what isn’t strange? 

mythical. dreamy. sensual. patient. ionate. i really liked this!! the acting is incredible, the pacing worked perfectly for me, it’s stunning, i really connected with it 

it did feel a little heavy handed and pretentious at moments but it got over those moments just as quickly and had a lot of heart 

also it made me rethink my attachment to cannibalism as a metaphor for love .. maybe i am ready to heal 🙏 
didn’t realize this was the director’s debut film, i’m impressed! and i also like that he’s gay i couldn’t tell if i was just imagining this feeling gay. compliments to the chef! 👩‍🍳 💋
