Aïnouz document his trip to Algeria to reconnect with his origins. Through visual fragments and his voice-over narration -made like he is talking to his late mother- he tackles personal and historical themes, his parents relationship, his memories with his mother, historical and political situations of Brazil and Algeria.
The film was surprising stylistically, a very raw editing in many segments with smash cuts and sudden camera movements. A dreamy-surreal sequences. And a warm portrayal of the city of Algiers and the Kabyle mountains.
