I just hate it when I’m watching a film when the acting or dialogue makes me cringe. Final Destination is entertaining and by no means bad, but when the screenwriters give their actors absolute shit to say, it completely takes away from the viewing experience. Like come on, some of this could have been written by a 5 year old. It also doesn’t help that some of these guys act like they’ve come straight out of drama gcse. That said, I have to say, it’s a cool premise, and the way they foreshadow some of the kills is pretty nice. I just wish Carter had died on the train track, that would’ve been hilarious. ALSO, the ending was absolutely shit. But oh well, let’s hope I’m not next.
]]>I don’t know, I just feel as if this film was a little disted. To me, it was like a series of tableaus with no real overarching plot tying them all together. Performances were good, especially from (insert wife’s name and insert bad guys name) but I feel if there was a lot more this film could’ve done. Overall, pretty solid, that’s about it.

]]>It’s rare that a film annoys me as much as this one. Maybe because I was tired, maybe because I watched it on the plane, but this short film was undoubtedly the worst thing I’ve seen this year. The characters are underdeveloped, stereotypical and boring. The core plot is choppy and not at all compelling. I love Chris Rock, but in this, his acting was just jarring. And DON’T get me started on the gay twist at the end of the film. It feels like the more you watch, the more the director wants to dump trauma that these characters have faced onto you. It tried to be Whiplash. It Failed. Miserably.

]]>I’d argue that the low budget is actually what makes this film so good. All of the action feels so real because of the minimal set and naturalistic dialogue. It really seems like these are just some normal people having a weird night. The fact that they shot this in five days is crazy.

]]>This is MY kind of film. I love a large cast of characters who have some kind of personality, and I really enjoyed attempting to keep up with all of them. All in all, a very enjoyable watch.
]]>Naomi Ackie was literally the PERFECT casting for this role. Of COURSE she takes everything at the end; just look at her smile.
]]>Updated superpower ranking:
1. Jack-Jack
2. Violet
3. Voyd
4. Elastigirl
5. Frozone
6. Krushauer
7. He-lectrix
8. Dash
9. Mr Incredible
10. Brick
11. Screech
12. Reflux
Jack-Jack goes without saying. I maintain that Violet’s powers are SO underrated. Voyd’s is actually very cool, being able to teleport basically anything to another places is really strong. Elastigirl is just very good. Frozone, again, goes without saying. The ability to crush things is also really strong, but I feel as if Krushauer is limited by large spaces. Electricity is just all round solid. As is super speed. Mr Incredible and Brick have the exact same power, but Mr Incredible doesn’t look like an ogre so I’d pick him. Listen, Screech’s powers are really good, but if it means being a bird, I don’t want them. And right at the bottom is Reflux. This is SO inconvenient. Anytime he uses this power he just destroys everything. It’s also really slow. And on top of that, he looks like a ballsack.
That’s my final ranking. See you at Incredibles 3 🫡.

AND I’M HOMEBOUND
Do you know what, this actually really grew on me. The first episode didn’t quite hit the spot, but the more I watched, the more I came to appreciate the intricacies of the world and the time and effort put into creating this show. The little details are what make this show such a pleasure to watch.
]]>I LOVE THE INCREDIBLES. Here’s my rankings of their powers:
1. Jack-Jack (obviously)
2. Violet
3. Elastigirl
4. Frozone
5. Dash
6. Mr Incredible
Listen, Violet would far and away be the winner were it not for Jack-Jack. Invisibility is cool enough in itself; force-fields are a nice added bonus. Elastigirl’s is just really useful. I feel as if the only downside to Frozone’s ability is that it doesn’t have that much practical day-to-day use. Like you can’t really ice your way to work. It’s still great though. Dash and Bob are just bang average superhero powers. Although I think speed edges out strength. Lowkey super strength sucks.

THIS FILM IS SO INCREDIBLE. The animation is amazing. The soundtrack slaps. The spidermen are so cool. But above all, it has such an emotionally powerful story. This is one of those films I could watch again and again and again. Love it.
]]>Listen here. This film was NOT compelling enough. I get that the direction is nice and some of those shots are beautiful, but the story just doesn’t do enough. While Oppenheimer, a very similar film in my opinion, had real stakes, I felt that The Brutalist lacked drive and fell flat. We were just watching the dragged out construction of a building which, ironically, we never see finished. I also feel as if the ending was a bit of a cop-out and left me disappointed, and the rape scene left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth. It was really just for the shock factor; it could easily have just been heavily implied. Even so, what was the point of that scene, that the white Americans take advantage of the immigrants when they can? Adrian Brody was good, but I hope that he doesn’t win Best Actor, in my opinion Colman Domingo was significantly better. As much as The Brutalist is a cinematic spectacle, I don’t think it deserves Best Picture. To be fair, I did really enjoy the second half of the first act when the film picked up the pace. I loved the scene in which Guy Pearce talks about giving his grandparents money, I thought the dialogue just worked tremendously. At the end of the day, well worth watching, but something I will not watch again.

]]>I don’t think I have ever felt as ambivalent towards a film as I have with this one. The cinematography is nice, but not amazing. The acting is good, but not great. The shots are interesting, but nothing special. At the end of the day, I enjoyed it, but just thought it was a GOOD film, nothing more.

]]>Listen, I can appreciate how amazing this must be for someone who knows all of the songs and loves the musical. And for a first time watch I did really enjoy it. BUT, I feel as if it really missed an opportunity, especially with the visuals. With that budget, I really feel as if this could’ve blown me away, but it didn’t. Still good though.
]]>I thought the film was fine but then I went to look at the comments. Oh my word. People really hate this thing. I just thought the cartel boss saying he wanted to be a woman was hilarious.
Edit: This film is no longer fine. It is actually just shit. -1 star for that Oscar’s acceptance speech.
]]>Everything about this film is so unnerving. From the camera close-ups on the actors faces, to the snappy editing, to the way they interact, even to the way they eat. The whole thing is like some kind of nightmarish lucid dream that you can’t wake up from. I think it’s these subtle things, more than the body horror, that make The Substance so disturbing.
]]>why is greatest day by take that the backing track for this film 😭😭😭
]]>You did your thing, beloved.
OH MY WORD THIS FILM IS INCREDIBLE. The fact that so many of the actors are playing themselves is actually astounding to me. This film is honestly amazing. I just pray that Colman Domingo wins an Oscar for one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.
