When I see an ad for a relatively new 2D animated film, it usually shoots to the top of my watchlist. I don't know how this one flew under my radar given the cast.
This was solid. It's a fun and engaging story in the vein of Robinson Crusoe, with great looking animation. I wouldn't say it has too much to say thematically other than "poaching is bad" but that's totally fine. I wanted a solid 2D animated film and that's exactly what I got. Definitely worth the $2 purchase on VUDU.
]]>I liked this. One day I'll have time to watch The Series so I can fully appreciate it.

Excellent film. Wish I grew up on it. You can definitely tell this was made by the guy who did Rocky.
]]>The best parts were the acting and the cinematography. I do think that Jesse Armstrong's writing is overrated. I can respect the quality of Succession and acknowledge that it's just not for me, but this movie took too long for it's main story to get interesting, and it's background story never really culminated into anything. Also I'm kinda over the whole "each the rich" genre at this point. Also, I HATE this movie's title. I don't know why, it just makes me angry.
]]>Yay lore! I love lore!
]]>Superficially entertaining. Like all the cheap-quels, it rinses and repeats the highs of the original to lesser effect. There's also a lot of jokes that didn't land very well. I'm not sure what that subplot with David and Pleakley was, but it had me cringing. But there are also some fun and heartfelt moments that this can truly call it's own.
]]>There are some good nuggets of ideas in here, but they ultimately feel very misguided. Would've been significantly better if it were a Hulk movie.
]]>I was very polarized by this animated South Korean Netflix movie. It's got beautiful backgrounds, music, and world building, but it also has ugly character models, a clunky dub, and a so so story (the third act was solid). The over saturated vertical reels that'll come from this will look amazing tho.
]]>This was my favorite horror movie of the decade up until the ending. They really let all the air out of the balloon with this one.
]]>I ended up buying both the old bluray as well as the 4k. I was originally going to watch the 2nd movie tonight which is also on the old bluray but I accidentally started the main movie and said "fuck it! I'll watch it again." I was surprised to find out that not only is the old bluray superior to the newer one because of the original cut, but the transfer was better as well! Genuinely surprised by that. I thought it would've been worse if anything due to the second movie also being on the disc.
Technical talk aside, I think I can comfortably say that this is my personal favorite Disney movie. This film's influence is basically ingrained into my DNA. I literally wouldn't be the person I am today if I didn't go behind my mom's back to watch this movie with my cousins as a kid. There isn't a single thing about this movie I would change. I might go on a deep dive and watch the direct to video movies and the series. But I still don't think I'll watch the live action adaptation any time soon.
]]>I've come to learn that in most cases, if Guy Ritchie truly cares about a project, he'll write it himself. He clearly did this one for the paycheck, and the cast did too. I hope that between this and Road House 2 he gets paid well enough to fund his next few ion projects.

If this movie didn't work, comic book movies would have never existed. Luckily, this movie is beyond exceptional. Christopher Reeve as Superman/Clark Kent might just be the best portrayal of a superhero in all of media. The infectious wide eyed optimism he evoked while playing the character is the best thing about this film, and my favorite about the character of Superman. Some of the cheesier aspects of the movie didn't really work for me, but it was the 70s so I gotta cut it some slack. This is undeniably one of the most important films ever made, and that's something you just have to respect.
]]>Tim Robinson has a sense of humor as dry as the Sahara and it had me rolling many a times during this dark comedy. I gotta check out more of his stuff.
]]>Despite some very frustrating pacing and editing issues in the first half, the second half delivers some of the wildest action sequences this franchise has ever seen. Worth seeing on the biggest screen possible.
]]>Disney Animation's most unorthodox story is also one of their best. I can't decide if I want to get the 4k to see the colors pop even more, or keep searching for the old bluray so I can watch Lilo hide in a dryer the way God intended. Either way, I'll probably never watch the sure to be soulless live action remake.

Edit: This plays WAYYYYY different for me now that I've worked as a teller. This bank should foreclose IMMEDIATELY!!! 😂
]]>A very rough start to one of the best animated series of all time.
]]>I still don't think we necessarily needed to see Han's origin story, but Alden Ehrenreich did a good job playing the character and I loved all the world building for the underworld of Star Wars. I'm still disappointed we haven't gotten to see much of that world building payoff. I'd love to see Emilia Clarke return as Qi'ra. Maybe the newly announced Maul series will deliver on that.
]]>I hate almost everything about this movie. I don't understand how some people prefer this over The Last Jedi. This is nothing more than a hodge podge of pussy footed retcons, cobbled together into one of the most incoherent and disingenuous blockbusters ever made. So fucking stupid. It's not the worst movie ever made, but I struggle to think of a movie that I genuinely hate more.
]]>I still don't hate this movie, but I don't think it's very good anymore. There are so many bad story decisions present that I just cannot defend. But I do still think this movie looks amazing. The viewing experience is mixed overall.
]]>This is my first rewatch since 2019, post Rise of Skywalker. A lot has happened since then. My standards for grading movies is much higher and this trilogy ended up being a complete nothing burger. But I've been morbidly curious to see how these movies play today.
I still like The Force Awakens, but nowhere near as much as I used to. Failure of the trilogy as a whole aside, I now find this to be a very superficially entertaining film. It's got some fun entertaining action sequences, but there's lots of creative inbreeding going on here. It's never been more clear to me how much of a carbon copy this is of A New Hope.
The story beats and most of the new characters feel uninspired. I found Rey to be very unlikeable, Finn has that crappy quippy Marvel humor, and Poe is just a Han Solo wannabe. Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is the only new character that is genuinely captivating and come with actual interesting new ideas to explore. Maybe I'm just saying this knowing where this trilogy leads but I swear I'm seeing flaws that I've never seen before.
I know I've been more negative on this review, but I do still enjoy this movie. It's going to be tough to place it in my Star Wars ranking. But I'm even more interested to rewatch The Last Jedi now. I used to be an avid defender of it and I think it used to be my favorite of the trilogy. I'm very curious to discover my new updated thoughts on it.

Andor did for Rogue One what Clone Wars did for Revenge of the Sith. Recontextualising Cassian Andor as one of the most tragic characters in all of Star Wars makes this movie hit so much harder. I still would kinda like to see Jyn and maybe even Chirrut and Baze get some more development in some expanded screen based material, but honestly I think their sacrifices carry even greater weight now post Andor after seeing many similar characters with equal or less amounts of screen time share equally tragic fates. I very much look forward to the possibility of seeing this one the big screen again next year.

Couldn't get through this one either. They somehow managed to come up with an even worse idea for the threequel. I couldn't give two dry fucks about Buford T. Justice as the lead, or Cletus driving The Bandit, or the fact that they even made a 3rd movie. Take a shot everytime someone says "daddy". You'll be plastered in minutes.
]]>This was a true secret screening. I hadn't even heard of this when I went in. It's basically a B movie take on Bullet Train, but on a plane, starring Josh Hartnett. Good one time watch.
Also, a fight almost broke out in my screening!😂
]]>Great movie. The JJisms make my head hurt tho.
]]>Pakistan's very first hand-drawn feature length animated film is EXCELLENT! A beautiful yet tragic tale that intertwines love, art, and war, and explores how each of those things can bring out the best and worst in people. It's heavily inspired by Ghibli, sometimes a little too much, but it's ultimately a film that leaves and impact and is sure to never be forgotten. More people need to experience this film.
And yes, if/when this gets an official release in the US I will absolutely it. I'm genuinely baffled that Shout or Gkids hasn't picked this up yet.
Edit: Something with the ending just doesn't sit right with me. A character makes a very rash decision that negatively impacts the lives of many people and receives little to no consequences from it. I gotta drop half a star.
]]>Not really the stories I wanted to see from both Cad Bane and Asajj Ventress, but this show turned out fine anyway.
But c'mon think about it! This could have been a layup! We could have gotten both the Dark Disciple arc and the Boba/Bane arc! Why did Lucasfilm waste this opportunity?!
]]>I should go back to therapy.
]]>This had a great hook but it lost most of my interest in the 2nd act. At least it looks great. RIP Halyna Hutchins.
]]>Interesting anthology. Chapters 3 and 4 were great. They could've made great features based on their concepts alone. Chapters 1 and 2 weren't really my thing. Despite liking a lot of the ideas behind these chapters I don't think they intertwined all that well either. I still enjoyed the movie overall tho.
]]>Return of the Jedi is just so good. Not quite as good as the previous two, but still so good. Just like New Hope, I can only watch the theatrical/despecialized edition.
]]>Popped in the 4k cuz I kinda prefer the special editon for this one. Wasn't too thrilled that most of the grain way scrubbed away. Next time I'll watch the despecialized version to see if I like it more.
]]>Watching ROTS in theaters last weekend got me in a much needed Star Wars mood.
]]>Pangolin's might just be the cutest animals to ever exist. I can't believe Randy Marsh fucked one and started the COVID 19 pandemic.
]]>Despite a fairly by the numbers story, this crime thriller is elevated by brutal, viseral action sequences that command your respect. I've never seen The Raid movies, but after seeing what Gareth Evans is capable of I think it's about time I fix that.
]]>I can now say I've truly lived after seeing this is a theater today.
To echo another review from someone I follow on here, we need more mainstream tragedies.
This is your chance HBO. Greenlight a live action adaptation of Berserk. PLEASE!!!🙏
]]>This is basically A24 doing their artsy fartsy take on E.T. It's a good one time watch. Loved the practical effects.
]]>This movie makes autism look so fucking cool.
]]>I liked this one a little bit more than Mallrats and Dogma. With the two stupidest characters taking center stage I was able to embrace the stupidity a lot easier. I also loved all the callbacks to his other films.
]]>This is what it's all about. I was raised mormon and this short played in my household almost every Sunday. I don't really associate myself with the mormon church anymore. There are a lot of fundamental beliefs that the church teaches that I just don't agree with. That being said, I am still a Christian, and I do want to build a better relationship with Christ.
This short showcases a lot of beliefs that I do still resonate with. It does a really great job at exploring personal grief and tying it into Christ's resurrection. I'm also a sucker for any farm work in film so those parts were great as well. There's some cheese in there that hasn't aged as well but overall I still love and appreciate this short.
Happy Easter!
]]>Plenty of ups and downs from this mixed bag of a film. I might be more positive on this if I saw it live. But even so, I can confidently say that Joseph is a much better show. The 70s isms in this adaptation were too much for me.

This was a little bit derivative of From Dusk Till Dawn, but it's better in almost every way. This is sure to get a bunch of Oscar noms and rightfully so. This might just be the best vampire movie I've ever seen.
]]>What a deeply tragic and unfortunate story.
]]>Upgrading to 5 Stars
The Golden Age Arc of Berserk has been living rent free in my head for an entire year now. I think it is one of the greatest fictional stories ever told. It's up there with the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the original Star Wars trilogy. And this show does such a good job at adapting it. I knocked it for it's budget limitations on my first review but I'm now willing to love it for completely, even for those minor flaws. The writing is what really counts here, and it is some of the best there is.
This was the first anime I ever watched that motivated me to read the manga. It was an absolute necessity to me to find out what happens after this. I recently just got caught up and I almost feel empty inside. I read 35 years worth of blood sweat and tears in a year and no I have to wait for what seems like an eternity for new chapters and volumes to release.
As I read I just couldn't help but think about what a big budget live action TV show would look like. I thought about how I would pace each arc into TV seasons. I thought about editing ques I would make, some of which genuinely give me chills to think about. It's a total pipe dream and it will almost certainly never happen but a kid can dream god dammit! If by an act of god I end up making it big and have fuck you money, I would fund that shit out of this show. Kentaro Muira's magnum opus needs to be experienced by the masses one way or another. RIP King 👑

I try to skip this one every time but the little boys were insistent on watching it. This movie has aged so poorly. The early 00s John Woo isms just don't vibe with this franchise at all. Thank God nothing in this film actually matters.
]]>Yeah we're doing these again. The little boys have only seen 7 so we gotta watch em all before we go see 8.
]]>Controversy aside, it's the Taxi Driver formula done again but with a body builder twist. The outstanding performance by Jonathan Majors is the sole reason to watch this.
]]>So I know this movie is kinda going for a GTA vibe, but it actually made me want to play Ico instead.
Harmony Korine is the only filmmaker that gets my approval to use excessive AI, but only because it is a vivid reflection of his mental state. This guy has now made two of the most interestingly awful movies I've seen over the past few years.
The mind of this man actually needs to he studied. I've always been fascinated by the effects that drugs have on the brain and thankfully I can scratch that itch by watching Korine's filmography. The guy went from having a modestly respectable reputation to being the most manicly brain fried director working today.
AGGRO DR1FT gave me the biggest headache I've ever gotten in a theater, but somehow this movie managed to be EVEN MORE INCOHERENT! But I gotta say, just like his aforementioned work, I was utterly fascinated by how truly shitty this was. Can't wait for the next piece of shit Harmony!
