Still an all-timer, a 5-bagger. I when I first saw this in HS I thought: “movies can do THIS??!”

Also this movie has so much good stuff to say about living in a community, found families, and forgiveness.

Soderbergh really is an “actor’s director” who is also a “director’s director.” That’s cool. Also apparently this was (maybe?) written by his wife? Cute!!

Kubrick directs this like Gustave Flaubert writes… a tight, interior shot slowly zooming out to the room and then even the landscape beyond. Every shot an oil painting. Is this my favorite Kubrick?? Damn!!

Anyway everybody should see this movie and then watch the 30-second Barry Lyndon TikTok fancam.
