i would rather have a whole cinematic universe of these films than another live action disney film

Adolescence is an all-time masterpiece.
Watch my SPOILER review at The Awards Contender!
Sex, gore, and rock-n-roll.
I can see a world where people call the plot of Sinners formulaic, but it leans into comedy and the cliché in a way that feels realized and makes room for everything this movie has to talk about which includes the blues baby! Preacher Boy’s performance is the film-stealing scene and I am eternally grateful that not a second of it was in the trailer because what a joy. Michael B. Jordan is good but Miles Caton,…
highlights it’s cultural and musical landscape in a way that’s going to stick with me more than its supernatural elements. the supernatural beats and folklore legend were as electric and as fun as the trailers had promised, but it was the music and its impact that really had me feeling something. need to witness this in imax before committing to the 4.5, but this was great. had me smiling a lot.
paul mescal plays the role of a depressed man extremely fucking well and it never fails to make me cry my eyes out every single time
About as much fun as watching a blank screen for two hours. I cannot believe the great J.C. Chandor who made Margin Call, All is Lost, and A Most Violent Year has been reduced to this drivel. A strong cast overall but tired storytelling, dumb action scenes, and zero excitement. An absolute trainwreck.
this film is basically everyone crashing out for an hour and a half
i’m usually not very personal in my reviews on here so posting this feels kinda scary, but here we go.
aftersun is one of those movies that i’ve wanted to revisit ever since i saw it for the first time but i just couldn’t bring myself to do it. because rewatching it would also mean revisiting all the feelings it gave me the first time i watched it.
i didn’t have the best relationship with my parents growing up and…
“I don’t see myself at 40, to be honest. I’m surprised I made it to 30.”
Hits me so deeply every time I watch this masterpiece.
As a guy that makes an active effort to make others laugh, see life positively and take each day as it comes, this exceptional piece of cinema reminds me that it is okay to not be okay.
Thank you Charlotte Wells for this beautifully constructed piece of art.
Check in on those you love, whilst you can.
