It’s too long and exposition heavy but it’s still an absolute blast. Tom Cruise always delivers with the stunts and just his performance in general. The film strikes a nice tone of being a little self aware while also taking the plot seriously. I don’t love the idea of an AI being the villain but I hope that is improved upon in The Final Reckoning.
This was a great end to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. It gave me an extremely satisfying ending filled with laughs, some real emotion and a banging soundtrack, everything you could ever want. The action is spectacular especially a one take near the end of the movie. I love how Rocket was really given more spotlight and his backstory really added the emotional beats that the movie needed. At times the humour can over stay its welcome a bit but apart from that and a few nit pics there's really nothing else I could have wanted.
This being the highest rated movie on letterboxd might be a bit over the top but this is still damn good. It goes without saying that the animation in this movie is the best animation to ever exist. Miles and Gwen are the heart of this movie and they are phenomenally played. Oscar Isaac as Spider-man 2099 was amazing. All the easter eggs in the background will make it really fun to rewatch. Its hard to judge this before Beyond…
