shadowflame’s review published on Letterboxd:
Epic and accessible. Intimate and grandiose. It's so serious, but not self-serious. There's room to live, laugh, love.
A perfect example of "show, don't tell." The audience doesn't need a cheat sheet for this one.
The effects are stripped way down, which is great. When you see people float up a cliff, the understanding is immediate. There needn't be plumes of CG or even editing around the moment. It's future technology. End of explanation. I also love how the laser is rendered as a straight line. Simplicity!
Abstract visuals are my favorite. Streaks of light, unrecognizable close-ups. I wanted more!
