Oh yeah, that's the follow through. This is the gratification we all wanted.
So good to see more of this genuinely interesting universe and this gripping story, I really get the sense that Frank Herbert was a master of his craft, and I KNOW big bad Denis is a master of his. Ditto Hans, this is such a strong example of just how much he lends to high concept cinema, particularly the epic sweeping shots - many of which feature within -, as well as the way he masterfully carves out a single distinct and lastingly identifiable motif in each project. I'd also like to shout out the FX, I'm no expert and I certainly haven't done my research so I'm not sure what the practical/CG ratio is here but apart from a couple of slightly dodgy moments it all comes across very well and manages to avoid that weird overproduced look that most big FX movies seem to be suffering from at the moment (I'm looking at you Marvel). + the Harkonnens looking so damn good, big up makeup and wardrobe
Generally strong performances - Timmee fast becoming one of my favourites of our generation, Austin Butler managing to be even more captivating than Sting, and Javier Bardem a genuine delight to watch here.
In summation, good picture, tho does make me truly sad thinking about the BR2049 sequel that could have been. Also no bagpipes :(
NB anecdote - the whole experience nearly dropped a half star because of the four little bastards next to us jabbering and jumping about the whole fucking time - including one who on multiple occassions during their conversations, managed to real time spoil what was about to happen - and their three brain dead 'adults' who sat there silent as the grave... :)
