QUICK REVIEW:
PROS:
-a visual and audio FEAST, the holy trinity of Villeneuve’s direction, Fraser’s cinematography and Zimmer’s score are unmatched here
-performances are outstanding across the board, with Chalamet giving a heartbreaking and haunting performance here and Butler making for a truly terrifying villain
-world building and storytelling continues to be top-notch
-character development is especially strong, especially for Paul, who’s journey continues to be fascinating
-improves on the first film in virtually every way
-pacing is wonderful for a nearly 3hr film
CONS:
-it wasn’t longer!
OVERALL THOUGHTS:
This is blockbuster filmmaking at its finest and easily the best film of 2024 so far. LONG LIVE DUNE!
