Dune: Part Two was my most anticipated movie of 2024. My expectations were sky-high, especially since it has been hailed as superior to the first film, which is reflected in the ratings on Letterboxd. Unfortunately, I didn't find the final product to be significantly better.

While the movie excels in some areas, it retains many of the same issues as the first part. On the positive side, there's more action, the scale is grander, the pacing feels improved, and even the cinematography shows some enhancement. However, I wasn't fully emotionally invested. Timothée Chalamet, despite having a larger role and more responsibilities, still fails to convince me as a leader, fighter, or lover. This is problematic since he is the main character.

Don't get me wrong — Dune: Part Two still a fantastic film that I thoroughly enjoyed, and it stands out in modern sci-fi. It just didn't capture my heart as fully as I had hoped and expected.
