I have some notable blindspots for 2024 (Sing Sing, The Brutalist, a few more) that I'll get around to eventually. They will probably show up on my 2025 list. I am allowing myself to not care very much about year of official release compared to year where I can actually watch the damn movie.
Similarly, I'm allowing myself not to care much about my star rating compared to the listing of films here. If it were just about star rating, it'd be pretty straightforward. I'm trying to think about the films I've thought the most about since seeing them. What they had to say, and if it was true. Those things matter to me. That said, so does a good time at the movies. A good time at the movies might mean joy, terror, sorrow, or grief. But I want a film to make me feel something. I want it to have meaning.
