Cool transitions but found the structure really hard to emotionally connect to.

Not what I expected at all but loved this! If someone asks you what being part of an Irish family is like, show them this.

Really unique style of shooting which I'm not sure entirely works but my goodness that subject matter is harrowing.

Was not ready for how unflinching this was going to be. A bleak and honest look at how cruel kids can be, and if the result is maybe a little too basic to live up to its potential, I really can't fault the individual components of the whole (great child performances, deeply chilly atmosphere, steady and impressive direction) for making this an affecting and intelligent 72 minute microcosm of the world seen through (supposedly) more innocent eyes

Weird thing happened watching this where I started thinking about PJ Harvey and then Ruth Wilson was dancing to 'Rid of Me' a few minutes later.

The first half is cold, cryptic and glacially slow, which pays off massively when the film leans fully into pure untethered brutality in its third act. Totally unsparing in both its gore and its criticism of a system that consumes far more than it needs to just because it can, it's a film that rewards the patient with one of the hardest climaxes in recent memory. A wild, exhilarating ride, but those with weak stomachs would be wise to decline this particular dinner invite

Fantastic performances aside, this was totally underbaked. Needed to be much darker or more stylish to make its take on toxic relationships work. A missed opportunity unfortunately but it did remind me of my fondness for seaside towns so every cloud and all that. Ruth Wilson's strong lead turn does a lot of heavy lifting, but that only takes the film so far when the script is so risk averse. Decent enough, but a little too tepid to make a lasting impression
