Cannes Film Festival 2025: Semaine de la critique

Momoko Seto has spent the great majority of her film career crafting animated shorts and pieces about nature. Her films are somewhat unconventional, but they are interesting because she experiments with animation and live-action footage to create parables about the world surrounding us and why we must protect it at all costs. It is related to her studies at Le Fresnoy, the National Studio for Contemporary Arts, and her work in the…

Rewatched this for the umpteenth time with my younger sister and we both wept like we haven't watched this an unreasonable amount of times. 🥹
Siblinghood, what a ride.

There's a lot of [redacted] I can say about The Big Mouse Group™, but I can never say they didn't make actual magic happen once upon a time.

This is a world where animals, reptiles, fish, and humans coexist and they can all understand each other. One part Fast & Furious, one part Mission Impossible, and three parts Oceans 11, and two parts Looney Tunes.
C’mon a farting piranha is pure comedy gold and Marc Maron being animated as a snake is quite unique. Not to mention a horde of mind controlled evil guinea pigs.
It’s one of those bad guys become patsy’s when they finally do something good…

Very good movie, for me this is the one of these Disney remakes to have the soul of the original, good songs (lam Tongi did a very good job with Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride), felt sad that they cut some scenes of the original, but is nothing that changed the original movie story.
(I had some shivers during the movie btw)

it honestly holds up pretty well, even if the concept is bizarre and laughable. aggressively watchable movie with some jokes that are still kinda funny, even if she does wanna fuck that bee. the video game for playstation 2 was superior though. i may be the only one in existence to have played that.

Stitch: “She’s touching me! She’s touching me!”
Lilo: “I’m not touching you.”
Stitch: “AAGH! You’re touching me!”
Lilo: “Not touching.”
Stitch: “TOUCHING ME!”

Stitch is the peak of comedy.

So, after Lilo and Stitch, Disney did what it did best (cough cough worst cough couch) back in the 2000’s: straight to DVD sequels to pretty much every single one of their own films.

Safely tho, Stitch Has a Glitch is one of the more serviceable offerings of these sequels. I…

I enjoyed this one! Again, one that really isn't talked about enough. I know this was a weird period in Disney animation but there's some great things about this. I thought Basil, Dawson, and Ratigan were all great characters. The songs are hidden gems for sure - maybe not diamonds, but still very good. Ratigan is a great villain! Love to imagine that every human just has a mouse counterpart. The clock tower scene using CGI (for one of the…
