Man... Tyler Perry just does too much with his films while also doing nothing at all which just leads to an unsatisfying watch. Because why were there multiple scenes of Janiyah screaming about getting the officer who threatened her away, and they don't think to start searching for him until the FBI almost show up?
I think Taraji is carrying this entire film on her back, and she does a great job, but the writing and directing just do her no favors. The twist towards the end did shock the hell out of me though!
Also, Janiyah is a much stronger person than me because I would've been throwing hands with SOOOO many people! The guy who threw the bottle at her, her boss, the asshole-offduty cop, etc. Just "Left, Right, Left, Right, UH son!" Lol

]]>This first thing has nothing to do with the movie itself, just my experience watching it:
I get that this is a kid's movie and kids in general can be hard to control, can we start teaching kids movie theater etiquette before bringing them to/dropping them off at theaters? Because having kids waking up and down stairs, in & out of the screening, huffing & puffing from running, talking loudly, kicking the back of chairs & making fart/burping noise throughout a film's runtime doesn't make for a great experience. & I feel like the "punishment" for the adults is they have to reimburse those who were disturbed for having their night of entrainment ruined...
Anyhow, to the movie.
To be completely honest, I quite enjoyed this live action remake. It really got me emotional a couple times. There were only 2 things that I didn't like about this version. I mean, would I have loved a more "accurate" version of Cobra Bubbles (meaning having the late, great Micheal Clark Duncan, or even Terry Cruise playing the character) or seeing Jamba & Pleakly remaining in alien form with just wigs on as disguises? Sure, but not having those things didn't throw off my enjoyment of the film.
What did was -
1) not having Gantu as the main antagonist chasing after Stitch, and instead having Jamba be that character...I think I'm just so used to Jamba being on Lilo & Stich's side both in the movies AND animated series, and having him as an "uncle" type in the family dynamic that it feels wrong for him to be our main antagonist who gets taken into custody😥
2) having Jamba being voiced by Zach Galifinakis. Again, I think I'm just so used to hearing that Russian-esque accent on our uncle alien that hearing Zach's regular voice just felt like an immediate "Nope!" Maybe if Zach had put on some kind of accent, I could've gotten past it, but keeping his same one made Jamba feel "fake" weirdly enough lol.
Well, now I wanna rewatch the original to see if it stands up to today & manages to outshine this remake🤔
]]>Okay, I need to know a number of things.
1) when exactly does this take place? Between John Wick 2 & 3? After 4? I need some kind of context.
2) are we about to get a trilogy/quadrilogy of Ballerina films now? I mean, it kinda has a similar franchise path as the John Wick films, so I'd be okay with it; I'd just like them to tighten things up just a tad.
Overall, pretty great and I would like to see another (this time without all the setup of this one).

It's been a while since I've watched this film. I don't think it holds up quite as well as many other films based on SNL skits (like Wayne's World, Coneheads, A Night at the Roxbury, etc), but there are a bunch of moments throughout that do make me laugh, and there are a lot of quotable lines that are fun to say!

Either way, I gotta say, I kinda liked this one too! It's crazy 2 back-to-back HDTGM movies that I unironically like, though maybe I shouldn't be too surprised because there have been movies they've talked about on this podcast that I would unabashedly give 5 stars to lol

I love the montage Lucas and Zachary have when trying to find Garry a new fit. And that ending shot is B-E-A-Utiful!
Also, I absolutely love Lucas Gage's eyes. They are so mesmerizing, and it adds to him being a very beautiful human being!
]]>Maybe it's me being so used to watching murder mysteries, or maybe this film was just so formulaic that I called the murderer in the first 5 minutes..
I didn't quite like this all that much (as evident by my rating), but I will say that moment when "Jill" (so as not to spoil the reveal) runs at Joe made me laugh as hard as that moment in Kong: Skull Island when Shea Whigham's character walks towards the skull serpent creature with grenades😂😂

Well, now I wonder if this will be a case of mistaken/stolen identity, or if this will be like that Billy guy who created Fyre Fest who was like "I'm a good, cool dude" & he's not?🤔
From what I've gathered, the character of Sinbad is a fictional (mythological?) character from the same "Arabian Nights" stories/book as Aladdin, and this specific adaptation is apparently based on an Edgar Allan Poe book.
So, all those facts put together, that means one of two things:
1) this just took characters from the Arabian Nights stories and meshed them into a Sinbad movie (I'm specifically talking about characters like "Price Ali" - aka Aladdin's pseudonym - & "Jaffar")
2) Disney's Aladdin took characters from the Sinbad story in those Arabian Nights tales, and put them in their movie.
No matter who's "right" in this matter, it's interesting to learn these connections. And speaking of connections, there's a bit of "Greek mythology" connection here in the sense of having these characters sail to an island of Amazonian women. In stories about things like the Trojan War there's mention of Amazonian women warriors (which we also see here in this film), and if those same Amazonians are mentioned in the original source material for this film, then it makes you wonder where that island might actually be/have been? Because it wouldn't be in the actual Amazon, which is on South America - hundreds, if not thousands, of miles away. So what island in the Mediterranean Sea could possibly be considered home to Amazonian women??🤔🤔🤔
Now, if also like to say, outside of a few things, I actually quite enjoyed this & I think it might be due to the fact that I'm predisposed to liking mythological & mythological-adjacent films and stories. And for me, if this took out a bunch of the narration, picked up it's pace just a bit by cutting some scenes that don't totally work, and do a bit better action sequences for 1 or 2 of the fight scenes, then I'd honestly be giving this 4, maybe even 4½ stars!
I think after a do a bit more research on the Sinbad character himself and watch a few more adaptations, I may come back and rewatch this film. And heck, I may just rewatch it just for the heck of it any time I feel like it (much like the 90s miniseries of The Odyssey with Armand Assante)

It's, at least more entertaining & thrilling on a first watch than The Final Reckoning was. It also doesn't hurt that Sandra Bullock is easy on the eyes lol.

]]>I need to start by saying that I'm gonna need to see this again in a better theater. I went to an out of the way theater (a Regal 2 hours from my house) because I wanted that cruciform key popcorn bucket that only Regal has, but the seats were in terrible condition and the sound in the screen was awful, so I never felt fully invested in the movie....
That out the way, this (much like the previous installment) kinda disappointed me. I mean, I liked Tom's stunts in this WAY more than his Dead Reckoning stunts (at least, more than the motorcycle jump), but it felt like half this movie was flashbacks and recap.
The film doesn't truly feel like it's off and going on its adventure until Tom is on his way to the submarine that will take him to his destination. I kinda want a fan to edit Dead Reckoning & Final Reckoning into one long film, so I can experience the film that way & see if I enjoy the story more.
Also, if I ever hear Tom say "The Entity" again, it'll be too soon. I hope he decides to make one final 9th installment just so he can end on a tremendous villain to go up against & just bring back all previous IMF agents to help. Because for sure it felt like a certain character from a previous installment was missing & should've been brought back.... maybe next time🤞
I do plan on seeing this again (& this time as a "double feature" seeing Dead Reckoning right before my rewatch of this, and when I do that, I'll rate the impossibility of this film like I've done with the others this past week.

]]>I know I've said this about the last 3 or 4 Mission films, but this will be a rather interesting one to give an impossibility rating to, especially for the major stunt...
See, if I'm going by the criteria I've set for myself, I can't actually rate the major stunt because it's part of the climax, technically. So, the stunt (on a technicality) would get a 0.0, but I don't wanna do that to this franchise, so I'll go ahead and count it; I mean it'll still be a low score (how can it not be when the last 3 films had dangerous and gripping stunts that were filmed, and here just driving off a cliff??). This major stunt definitely feels sub-par & boring compared to what we were spoiled to before; jump a motorcycle of ramp/cliff then fly a parachute onto a train. The only real difficulty I see here is the speeding train, which still doesn't feel all that "impossible", so for the stunt, all I can really give it is a 2.2 rating...
Then, of course, there's the mission(s). The starting mission is just Ethan tracking down Elsa & getting a key from her; that's not too terribly hard, so again, I'd go low with this & maybe give it a 3.0 impossibility rating. The next mission is where it could pick up though because for the mission Ethan needs (wants, really) to give his key half to a buyer & figure out who it's being sold to, as well as figure out what the key unlocks. All the while he's being thwarted by his greatest enemy....A.I. (it also doesn't help that he's got a new "ally" who will not for the life of her listen to Ethan or help him in any way). The A.I. is the main problem though, and that what will kick this up a number of notches. I think a rating of 7.7 seems fair enough.
That would give it missions a combined rating of 5.4.
Overall impossibility = 3.8
]]>I feel like it's gonna hurt me to rate the impossibility of this film because I absolutely love this entry and think it's the best of the franchise. But I've already started this task of mine, so I have to complete it.
Starting with the stunt (once again), which is, obviously, the HALO jump. I thought about including the rope climb up to the helicopter (mostly because I just recall Simon Pegg & Rebecca Ferguson talking about watching Tom Cruise doing that stunt & gasping when he falls lol), but it happens during the climax, and I already have a rule of not including stunts in the climax scenes (same goes for the rock climbing bit at the end of his fight); I also kinda thought about including his run through London chasing Walker (due to the fact that he broke his ankle on the jump where he's struggling to pull himself up onto the office building), but it's a run, and that's just athleticism really, so nothing "impossible" about it...
So, looking at the HALO jump stunt, to be honest it is a pretty basic stunt (which hurts me to say because it's one of my favorites from the franchise) because it's just skydiving, just jumping higher & pulling the parachute lower; Ethan semi-already did this when he jumped out the window of a tall Chinese building in the 3rd film, so that starts this stunt at pretty low rating (I mean there's many airforce/military people who will do this on various missions). What does add to the stunt's impossibility though, is the lightning storm he jumps into! Now, as far as I'm aware Tom Cruise didn't say "hey, let's do this HALO jump during a lightning storm!" I'm 99% sure that's a CGI storm, but what's important is that his character jumped into it, and with the unpredictability of lightning (when or where it'll strike), that ups the ante a good bit. I mean, if Ethan isn't there, Walker dies 100%, so that's some proof that this stunt is no easy feat. Taking all that into then, I'd give the impossibility of the stunt a 5.6 (which again, hurts me to say because I love the stunt so much😭😭).
Now for the mission(s). For the most part it is just one mission that got diverted due to how badly the start of the mission went with the Apostles almost killing Luther. So, breaking it down, it's recover the Plutonium from the Apostles, figure out who John Lark is, and stop his world destroying plan. For the most part, this is (or, at least, should be) a pretty straight forward mission; not too hard. What does make it a difficult thing to complete is having Lark be someone on the inside foiling all the plans Ethan makes to get closer to his goals, as well as having the new director of the CIA just being a thorn in Ethan's side (as always.... like really, what is it with CIA directors and Ethan Hunt? Are they just mad that he's the best spy & not working for their agency?? Lol). And once Walker and Lane have the plutonium and bomb schematics to make their nuclear weapons, the real impossible mission becomes stopping them from detonating the bombs (which proves to be a very hard thing indeed, due to a number of reasons). In thinking about all these aspects of Ethan's mission, I think it's pretty fair to give this an impossibility rating of 7.0 (this also hurts me to say because I want to say this is his hardest mission so it's at the top of the list, again because it's my favorite film, but the first part of the mission doesn't seem "impossible" enough, at least it's not as impossible as the climax feels at points).
Overall impossibility = 6.3
Ooohhh, I think this will be quite the interesting film to rate on "impossibility", especially for the mission(s) because outside of the opening sequence, there's not really an official "mission" given due to the IMF being dissolved, but we'll do our best to break it down & rate it.
The stunts have been the easiest to look at & give a rating to, so let's start there once again. Here, the stunt I really want to look at is the underwater sequence in Morocco because that's what I consider the "Impossible stunt", but all the marketing & everyone's conversation about the movie of "Tom's next big stunt" was all on regards to him hanging off the side of the plane, and that's fine & all, I just don't think it's anything too special (only due to how it plays out...), but I'll rate both & take the average.
So, plane first. I will say, on this rewatch, I did get more of an "anxiousness" watching him hold on to the side of the plane because the plane was likely going at about 150 mph & slowly getting farther from the ground, so really anything could've caused Ethan to slip & fall to his death (especially if Benji doesn't open the door in time). That all makes the stunt about as dangerous as the Burj Khalifa climb, so that'll start this stunt at a high rating, but again, since he's stationary holding onto the plane I will deduct some "impossibility points putting this closer to 7.6.
Now, the other stunt (which I think is more remarkable & potentially impossible) is his underwater dive for 3+ minutes without an oxygen tank. And with this, I just think to the Avatar 2 BTS where they talked about Kate Winslet building up to being able to hold her breath for 10 minutes. So yes it likely is possible to train for, but in a situation where you have about 24 hours or less to get ready for it, that's where the impossibility comes into play. & if Ethan could just remain still for the majority of the stunt, maybe it would feel less impossible, but he's not; he's swimming around, he gets sucker punched by a robotic arm, he has to start swimming against a current, just everything working against him with this, so I'd give this stunt an impossibility rating of 8.4.
Combined, the stunt impossibly has a rating of 8.0.
Okay, missions time. I wish I knew more about the mission in the opening sequence and why it was so hard to get to the package before it was loaded on the plane, but with a little as we know & see about it, I can't realistically give it too high if a rating because it was a pretty "simple" in-&-out extraction (they didn't even really need masks or costumes), so for this I'd give it a 2.6 impossibility rating.
As for the "main mission" (which there really isn't one given to Ethan outside of Solomon Lane's "teasing" (for lack of a better word) "your mission should you choose to accept"), this is fairly close to Mission: Impossible 1, 3, & 4, with Ethan on the run from his own government/agency, but different here is that Ethan is all on his own this time; no with his friends so they don't get arrested & sentenced to prison for treason. With that taken into consideration along with Ethan going against an "Anti-IMF" (as Benj states) in order to find Solomon Lane & put a stop to his nefarious deeds, it kinda heightens the impossibility factor here for Ethan. In which case, I think it's fair to give an impossibility rating of 8.1 to this "mission".
Combined the missions would have a 5.4 impossibility rating.
Overall impossibility = 6.7
]]>Just like with the last film in this franchise, there are technically 2 "missions" that are assigned in this one, so I'll once again start with the major stunt impossibility rating then so an average for the impossibility of the mission(s). Also, talking about the major stunt first let's me tell my favorite Tom Cruise story faster lol.
So, the major stunt in this is obviously the Burj Khalifa climb, and what's grown in my love for it (besides the fact that it's such griping and adrenaline inducing scene) is the story Matt Damon tells about asking Tom how he did it:
So I ask Tom how he did it and he says, "so I go to the safety guy and I tell him this is what I want to do, and the safety guy says 'you can't do it, it's too dangerous'", and I go, "uh-huh, uh-huh", and Tom goes ".... so I get another safety guy"
😂😂😂 proof that Tom is literally trying to kill himself for our entertainment lmaooo
Anyhow, taking that into consideration along with just seeing the danger of the in-movie world stunt itself (one of Ethan's gloves shorts out, he almost falls after the glass cuter sparks back at him, the close calls of breaking into the server room and jumping into their checked into room from his short line) it all amounts to a stunt that I'm convinced very few trained people could do, and even then, they'd need to have as much as Ethan does in the movie to have a hope of a chance at succeeding. All-in- all, that easily gives the stunt an 9.1 impossibility rating.
Now for the missions. The first mission is breaking into the Kremlin before "Cobalt" to find out who exactly it is they need to watch and keep from getting nuclear codes. For the most part, it's a pretty standard "sneak in, sneak out" espionage plan with some cool new gadgets to do the job. So for this specific mission, I'd give it a 2.9 impossibility rating.
The second mission will get a higher rating though because even though it's a bit of a standard type of mission that we've seen Ethan overcome before in the 1st & 3rd films (that of being a "rogue" agent doing what he needs to do to get the job done & save the world) this has a bit of the added element of having the entire IMF agency being shut down. So, the only gadgets and agents on the mission are the ones with Ethan the moment Ghost Protocol is initiated, and a lot of the gadgets Ethan and his team have to work with are not the best; they're constantly breaking and going on the fritz in the most dire of moments. Besides that though, like I had said, we've seen Ethan accomplish a mission like this before -> follow Cobalt, get the nuke codes from the assassin who has them, give Cobalt the fake codes, but then give him the real ones because there's an authenticator there, lose Cobalt, then track him down again, and stop the nukes at the last minute. I will say, with as ahead of the game as Cobalt is most of the movie, I think it'll push this impossibility level a bit higher as well. All of this taken into consideration, I think it's fair to give an impossibility rating of 7.3.
So, our average mission rating comes out to 5.1.
Overall impossibility = 7.1
]]>Watched on Saturday May 17, 2025.
]]>This will be an interesting one to give "impossibility ratings" to because there's technically 3 "missions" in it, and the "major stunt" is mostly cutaway from, but I'll do my best.
Let's start with the stunt first because that'll be easier to deal with. I'm not counting the bridge scene because that's more of an "action sequence" than it feels like a stunt that Ethan Hunt has to do. So, we'll be looking at the Shanghai tower swing/jump.
First, there's the fact that they have to measure out the exact rope length needed to get Ethan to swing from one building to his target; mostly "simple" mathematics, but if there's someone afraid of heights (and even if you're worried about whether the rope was measured correctly) you might not have the strength or will to do this jump. Then there's landing on the roof of the target building; the roof is slanted, and as we see, Ethan starts sliding off and just barley saves himself by grabbing the piping on the edge. Now, we don't actually see what happens inside the building, but we hear about how tricky it is with military people; that being said, I still won't rate it too high if a difficulty because that's all the sneaking around that spies usually have to do, and what Ethan himself has done before (like in Mission: Impossible II). So, back to the outside, Ethan jumps from his target building with a parachute, although, we're told his too low to do that. So, I think an overall impossibility rating for this "stunt" (given all the facts about it) would be about a 6.9.
Now for the mission(s) ratings, and for this I think I'll average out the mission Impossibilities for this.
There's the initial mission of recovering a kidnapped agent; this is mostly stealth and great planning, not too impossible, so I'd give it a 3.6. Then there's the mission of kidnapping Davian from the Vatican without any of his security or buyers knowing; breaking into the Vatican does make things challenging, and taking someone without anyone realizing is a hard challenge to figure out, so this goes up to a 6.4. Finally, there's the mission of stealing the Rabbit's Foot and getting it to Davian and save his wife from being killed; there's also the added problem of being hunted by IMF for being a suspected Mole/double agent, so with all of that taken into consideration, I think it's fair to give this a rating of about 7.0. Altogether, that gives the impossibility of the mission(s) a 5.7.
Overall impossibility = 6.3
]]>As I mentioned in my review for Mission: Impossible, I'm using these rewatch reviews to give thoughts and ratings to the "Impossible Missions" & major stunts in the films.
Starting with this film's impossible mission. It's good IMF agent going against bad IMF agent with similar skill sets (like 007 vs 006 in Goldeneye) & trying to get a deadly virus & anti-virus from said bad guy. This feels like more of a "basic" mission for these types of agents to undertake; the one argument I can see that would make the mission "impossible" is going against an agent who was an "understudy" for Ethan and knows everything he'd do before he does. Other than that (and falling in love), there's nothing too hard for Ethan Hunt here. So, I'd give this mission a 5.8 impossiblity rating.
Now for the major stunt(s). Okay this film is why I wanted to clarify in the first film's review that I wasn't including climatic stunts because it would mostly default to me using the motorcycle chase and stunts. I mean, I can't really include the rock climbing at the beginning (even though it's a major set piece that all the other marketing and posters tend to use at the "major stunt") because he's not doing it for any kind of mission; it just shows that he's a super extreme athlete... now, if he had been climbing to the top of a fortress, then it would be a completely different story.
So, that leaves me with Ethan's dive into the pharmaceutical building to destroy the Chimera virus. It's similar to his break-in to the CIA building, but it's much "quicker" and technically easier due to having less security risks (no cameras, no need to be *super* silent, no need to stay off the floor, no need to keep the temperature down, etc). All Ethan really needs to do is get through the ceiling gate and get the cables falls with out in 40 seconds or less. This feels like something that an averagely trained agent could do, and maybe even some civilians, so for this stunt, I'd give it a impossibility rating of 4.7.
Overall impossibility = 5.3
From what I've read in IMDb trivia is that the filmmakers originally wanted the actor who leads the IMF team in the TV show to come back to lead this movie team, but he turned it down because he didn't believe his character (who has the same name as the character Jon Voight plays) would break bad (and that's a thing that fans of the show were also upset by, again from what I've read).
Now, I've only seen about 8 episodes of the original series, and so far his character hasn't shown up yet, it's a different character all together, so as of this moment in time, I think it could be perfectly reasonable for Phelps to go rogue given the "right" reasons, especially since he's an agent who's brought in to replace another leader... we'll see if I feel the same way when I eventually finish the series in like 5 months lol.
I think I gave a more thoughtful review when I last rewatched these films to prep for Dead Reckoning [RIP, part 1], so I think this time I'll give my thoughts and "ratings" on the "Impossible Missions" & major stunt(s) of the film.
So, I think I'd rate the impossibility of this mission about a 6.5. Ethan still feels fairly "green"; I mean, he's likely done any 4 or 5 missions at this point, so he's certainly gotten the hang of things and is confident in his abilities, but still a young agent who has all of this blame thrown at him that he seemingly didn't think about till he was almost taken in in Prague. So with that, added that he needs to find the best group of disavowed agents that he can trust to help him, and also figure out the mystery of who the Mole in the agency is trying to sell secrets to; it all puts Ethan a step behind in his mission at first. He does overcome though, with great intelligence and planning. And in this specific case, the big mission is breaking into CIA headquarters (by NO MEANS an easy task), so a pretty high difficulty all the way around.
Then there's the major stunt(s). I think what I consider the major stunt of this entry is the CIA break-in, but an argument could be made that the train sequence is another major "stunt", but since it's part of the climax I don't really count it; I mention that now because I won't count any climactic set pieces in any of the other Mission Impossible films to make things fair & only rate "impossible mission stunts".
I'll tell you right now, as much as I'd like to think I could do that hanging an inch from the ground without touching it, I'm 1000% sure my core would laugh in my face as various parts of my body touched the ground and alarms went off. And I'm pretty sure the many people who say they could do it, really couldn't, and for that, I'd rate the impossibly of the stunt a 7.6 (I'm sure many fit people or gymnasts could manage it, but an everyday person/agent, no way).
Overall impossibly = 7.1
]]>OMG, this was such a fun return to this franchise! I think at this moment it is my favorite overall, but who knows, maybe in 2-3 years when I'm rewatching this as prep for a 7th film (no idea if they're even planning on doing any more of these or not, but they 1000% should, especially with these writers & directors) I'll end up thinking it's more of an upper-middle tier film🤷♂️
I will say, I love what they do with Tony Todd; it just makes so much sense & ties in so nicely with the rest of the films. ittedly, I didn't catch it immediately, but as soon as Stefani made a mention about his character it clicked for me! Mind you, it helps that I had what the directors said about explaining who Bloodworth was in the back of my head as I was watching lol.
I'll likely be watching this another handful of times too see if there's any fun easter eggs I missed, but it'll all I can really do as I...patiently😤 wait for more Final Destination films to be announced, made, and released😅
]]>You can tell the execs really wanted to make up for the last entry and make this a good one; they allowed it to have the "Warner Bros." title card that the others don't have on them.
What's really funny about this movie is that even though I shouldn't confuse them because they're clearly 2 different people, I confuse the lead in this one with the lead of the 4th film, so when it comes to differentiating the deaths in 4 & 5, I get confused as to which is in which movie🙈
I will say, I think this does a way better job as a "franchise capper" than The Final Destination. The story is better, the acting is better, the kills are more fun and interesting, and I even think the opening and closing credits that go through the past films' deaths/killing devices looks and works way better than the weird "x-ray vision".
Also, that ending reveal is so goddamn good! Oh, what I would give to experience that moment for the first time again!😃
And now my excitement for Final Destination: Bloodlines is at its peak! As of this writing, it's T-minus 30 minutes till showtime! Hopefully I can escape death till then🤞😂
]]>This is the entry of the franchise that I've seen the least and the one I like the least... and I think there's a number of reasons for that.
1) the kills feel more..."boring" (for lack of a better word) & bland compared to the deaths in 2 & 3; I mean, there's one sequence makes me cringe & look away (the mom in the hair salon), but other than that, I'm mostly just blah on the death sequences...
1b) especially the initial death event. While the NASCAR crash is probably the most likely scenario to involve a high death toll compared to the other 3 death events, it also feels the most boring... then again, maybe that's just my own bias of not liking NASCAR😅
2) so much of this film feels all over the place and rushed. It's like the filmmakers just wanted to make something quick so they could move on to their next project. And I think because of this, they had a continuity mess up:
With the way death order and skipping and not dying should work in this universe is that if you're not next in the death order, you won't die. Well, Janet's death was skipped because the security guard and the gf saved her from the car wash, so she should now be last to die after Nick, but when nick has his new vision with the movie theater explosion, we now see Janet dying after the security guard (accurate), but before Nick & his gf are up next to die... if that's when they'd actually want her to die then why not have her die at that death position in the original event? Unless that is what happens, we just never see her exact death position because she's out of frame at that time....idk.
3) the 3D of it all... if I had to guess that's why everything else feels of lower quality and rushed, they couldn't afford to spend money on more time or better kill sequences because they had to spend it on the 3D
It's crazy to me that the man who directed my favorite of the franchise (so far) is the same person who directed my least favorite..... there's gotta be some behind the scenes drama of it that I'm not aware of that explains all this...
Now, immediately on to the 5th one. I was gonna wait to watch this tomorrow before going see Bloodlines, but I have to wash this one from my memory again... lol
]]>You know, I've never had an interest in tanning in a tanning bed, but if I were ever tempted to try it, this movie has made sure that never happens lol. Also, is it weird that I wanna ride the Devils Flight even more after the accident??🤔😅
So, this entry has the unique "accomplishment" of being the first of the franchise that I saw in theaters! I made my mom bring me to a midnight Thursday showing (back when there were midnight showings of movies lol) because I was in like 7th grade & wasn't old enough to watch an R-rated film by myself (but it was fair because she's the one who introduced me to horror by "forcing" - not really lol - me to watch Wes Craven's New Nightmare at the age of like 7😭😂😂)
I've probably watched this one (much like Final Destination 2) the most times & there's a multitude of reasons for that; obviously there's the fact that I saw it in theaters, plus I bought it on DVD, and on the DVD, they had a really cool feature where you could choose your own adventure! & in one Frankie even lives past his drive-thru death, and I believe the film ends with everything he recorded on his camera lol. So, if you can get your hands on a physical copy of this movie, don't hesitate so you can experience the movie in this way too!
Another reason I watched this so much was likely due to Mary Elizabeth Winstead leading the film (whom I'm pretty sure I'd seen in Live Free or Die Hard prior to this coming out) & Ryan Merriman (whom I grew up with watching the DCOMs he led) being the love interest/secondary lead.
The other thing I clearly about this is 1) seeing the first trailer for this on Starz as a preview before one of their home premiere movies (no idea which one though), & 2) in the lead up for this film's release, they showed some B-T-S footage (also on Starz between movies) of the actors on set with the roller-coaster cars hanging in the air on a blue screen stage, and I Ryan Merriman talking to the camera saying, "Well, everyone, this is the glamorous life of an actor. 90% of the job is just waiting around"😂😂😂
Ahhh, to go back to that time when things were simpler☺️
Just like the 2nd film, I think this has some great, brutal kills, and I love the uniqueness in the "death visions"; it continues to make the deaths and patterns feel fresh; we're back to "vision death order", but now some people are in pairs, so who's "first" & who's "second", and there's also a mystery couple we have to figure out also. It all just adds to the fun. I also like that we don't give any screen time to suspicious cops outside of them just watching our main characters dubiously, but had they actually spoken, I probably would've rolled my eyes because they would've made me a mad as the FBI agents in the first film lol.
& as a bit of a final thought on this, I absolutely love the poster for this. While it is just the "faces on a poster" thing that many complain about, I love the simplicity of it just being them in the roller-coaster, & also, they're UPSIDE DOWN! Idk why I find it so fun & cool, but I do😅😂
]]>I'm thinking 'suck on my junk Be-YACH'!
Clear has a TV & a speaker in her padded room and Death HASN'T managed to kill her??? You're losing your touch death... unless it wanted to kill her in the grand (fucked up) fashion that it did 🤔
I'm pretty sure this is the entry I've seen the most (just barely beating out the 3rd, which I also love) between the story, deaths, and that ending/"reveal" I just have the most fun with this film!
Tim's dentist scene always freaked me out... then Final Destination 5 1-upped a medical fear (thank God I don't have eye problems lol) 🫣
I'm so happy that the first film did well enough to warrant a sequel/franchise because the deaths/kills in this film go so much harder than it's predecessor, and it makes for such a fun watch! Haha
I also love the connective tissue of all these characters relating to the original film's characters and due to those connections we're given a new death order! It just makes the sequel more unique and unexpected. It also makes me wonder how Bloodlines might change things to??🤔 Maybe everyone in it is related to the previous entries' victims???👀
Also, can I just say that I think Rory might be my favorite character just because of how...aloof he is😂😂 So, clearly I can't have favorite characters in this franchise because they're for sure dying lol
]]>I watched a YouTube video recently that broke down this film, and one thing the commentator said as a negative was the rushed & awkward relationship between Alex & Clear, & I was like, "BS! The relationship worked!" rewatching it now though.....yeahhh, it really doesn't work too well😅😂 they just needed life another 5-10 minutes to flesh that relationship out...I still really like the movie though!
Something else that Youtube video taught me about this film that I never knew was that it was apparently originally a script for an episode of The X-Files, which explains why Death in this is different than in the other films (with a shadowy presence that all the dying characters see), and that makes even more sense with what Bloodworth (Tony Todd's character) says in the funeral home about not messing with that "motherfucker". Now, from a recent Final Destination social media post, we're supposedly getting Bloodworth's backstory/connection to Death, and I kinda hope they do a "full circle" kind of thing and show Tony Todd fighting a physical representation of Death!!
Some dumb things on 2 parties' parts -
1) the FBI agents are dumb at their jobs because HOW are you investigating Alex for the deaths of his friend (who seemingly committed suicide) & Carter's gf (who was hit by a BUS)? Sure, he was at the place where the gf died, but how is that his fault??
Now, 2) Alex doesn't help himself with how creepy he is trying to help everyone, but that kinda works with him being a dumb 17-yo; he wouldn't know any better. What I don't let go of though, is his dumbness when it comes to saving Clear. Whether he thinks she's next on the list or not, she would've been next to die because he "stopped" his death trap from going off (the fishing rods opening a door to sharp falling objects), so he should've gone to save her as soon as that happened.
And for the record, I do think it was indeed Alex next to die for 2 reasons:
1) had he not had the vision of the plane exploding & gotten everyone off, he would've switched seats like he did in the vision; in which case, he's basically destined to die before Clear no matter what.
2) while he never said "yes, I'll switch with you" like he does in his vision, he DOES go to the seat he dies in & brings his bag with him, essentially switching seats. Now, if he had woken up and immediately yelled, "The plane's gonna explode!!" from his original seat, then I would've given more credence to the fact get he "never switched seats". & the easiest way to make that change the case is just have the broken tray be at his original spot & that makes him realize his vision will come true.
Other than that, this film is pure 2000s, pre-9/11, and I love it so much for that! It just has such a specific vibe about it that takes me back to the good old days (those days when I only knew Sean William Scott as Stifler, and was very sad and distraught when he gets decapitated in this film😭😭 my heart still breaks for him when I watch it happen now 💔). Also, that PLANE feels soooo iconic to me with its Blue top; when I see it on screen, I'm both amazed and frightened by it lol.
I'm so excited to be revisiting this franchise for Bloodlines, and I'm about to start 2 now because I feel like that's how I initially became acquainted with this franchise (seeing 1 & 2 back-to-back) though, I know that's not the case; I had watched this on repeat for forever, then learned about the 2nd film and watched that on repeat until the 3rd finally came out! But more on all that as I get to them! Lol
]]>This was absolutely "Bullet Train on a plane", but my goodness was it a fun time! Honestly, this could be seen as a kind of "Bullet Train prequel, I mean, Hartnet does look a bit like a "young Pitt"...Haha!!
Josh Hartnet has range! Horror movie where he plays a serial killer last year, and action lead this year (and hopefully he gets a John Wick style franchise out of this because I wanna see 30 more of these!).
]]>I knew the moment that conversation happened on Air Force One that that one person would be on he bad guys side. Lol
Honestly, if Viola Davis wasn't an actor, I would kinda want her to be our president; she's a badass & (I'm pretty sure) smarter/more knowledgeable than...47.
Man, do I wish Kamala won so that this would've lined up perfectly with her presidency 😭 I mean, we already have one character in this blaming the president for putting other people/nations over Americans, so it would've fit with the MAGAt narrative....
I think my only 2 critiques of this are that it slows down a bit too much in the middle, and I think it drags on a bit too long towards the end; just take down Anthony Starr one time and be done with it lol. Then again Starr is Homelander, so taking him down at all is an achievement!
]]>Watched on Thursday May 8, 2025.
]]>Watched on Wednesday May 7, 2025.
]]>Goodness! I haven't seen this in ages (pretty much since it came out in 2018 lol), and in that time I've grown more as a cinephile!
For example, when Stephenie accuses Sean and Emily of "Diabolique-ing" her, I understood that reference this time around, having watched it for one of the many Hooptobers I've taken part in since 2020.
There was also a good bit that I forgot about this film (I mean, I ed the big stuff, like the twin thing and at least one of the characters Blake Lively played was bad; also Aviation Gin being d in the film lol, but smaller details were lost to me). So, it was fun to piece things back together as I did this rewatch.
Now, I'll be interested in seeing how the sequel plays out & what the new "favor" is👀
]]>I didn't know that what I was missing in my life was seeing Ben Affleck line dance while Jon Bernthal cheers him on in the background, and also seeing Bernthal desperately want a dog/cat!😂😂😂
In the dance hall, I'm Ben Affleck, & when Jon Bernthal finds a cat I'm him lol
I think I'm gonna need them to make an ant 3 (at the very least), but a 4th & 5th would be nice too.
I think what this really made me realize is that I need Bernthal to be in more humorous roles because he's so great at playing a funny character.
This is probably the Star Wars film I've seen least in the franchise...
I certainly think it's a solid film, I just think it comes to a screeching halt once Luke goes back to Dagoba and doesn't start back up until the Battle of Endor starts, so I don't tend to revisit it all that often.
]]>The first time I watched this entry my first thoughts were, "Boooorrrrrringg"😅
Since then, I grew to love it so much that it became my favorite of the franchise. It's now #2 only because The Last Jedi exists, but it's still a top contender for "Best of Star Wars".

]]>Seeing as how the MCU is now a monster franchise (and has been for a while now) with 23 movies and 2 shows with multiple episodes (at the time of making this list), with more well on the way, I decided to make a list for those new to this franchise who don't have time to watch everything, or for those who just want to rewatch a certain character's story arc throughout the franchise.
This is what to watch in order for Captain America's story in the MCU to make sense to a viewer.* This also goes for the characters of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
*Disclaimer: I do highly suggest that you watch the entirety of the MCU if you haven't done so already and have the time to do so. There are many great films in this franchise, and they are all worth your time and experience.
My own Christmas movie challenge inspired by Cinemonster's annual Hooptober challenge every Halloween season.
I don't have any criteria *technically* made up yet...I did have a criteria the very first time I did this about 3 years ago, but haven't gone back to look it up and make it anew; for now my goal is to just watch 25 Christmas movies by the 25th, and I know exactly what 4 of those films 100% will be (the last 4 on the list lol) because they're annual traditions for me😅.
So, for now, if anyone comes across this list and wants to challenge themselves, just find any 25 Christmas movies (or watch the ones I've chosen), and Happy Holidays!!

Whether you’re a wolf of Wall Street or a humble fiddler on the roof, go the extra green mile and make a Schindler’s list of your top movies (no miniseries!) with titanic runtimes of 150 minutes (2.5 happy hours) or more. Listen to the sound of music in your heart and select your favorite not-so-short cuts that bring the heat from Nashville to Dogville, that sweep you away, gone with the wind until the end of the world. To be Frank, this week's Showdown is all about first names (like Eve). The road May be Rocky, but Carrie on and find Joy in coming up with a list of your ten favorite films with first-name titles. As our (Letterboxd's) photo selection of Anna Paquin as Lisa Cohen in Margaret implies, your picks don't necessarily have to be titled after a featured character, but they must be first name only. Thelma, not Louise. Michael, not Clayton. Alexander, not Fanny. Good luck, Babe!
]]>*for those unaware, "onze" is French for 11, and I'm using it here as "on zhe" (aka "on the") for a funny joke....& I get it, explaining the joke... yada-yada-whatever lol
WEEEEEEE'RREEEE BACK!!! Like the dinosaurs in that one cartoon movie that I loved watching endlessly as a kid! Lol. I'm so very excited for this year's criteria (especially the franchise one!); I have a great feeling about my chances of completing the challenge this year, and I'm really looking forward to seeing a number of the films I've picked for my list this year! So let's get that 3-for-3 on consecutive challenge completions now!
As always, if you've followed me or my challenge lists before, there are some extra films on here. It's mostly because I'm not 100% decided on which film I wanna watch for a specific criteria, and I want to have options in case a film I want to watch is no longer streaming (seeing as how we don't officially start until September 15th). I'm also very much undecided about which franchise I want to watch because there are so many that I love (Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, Scream, Final Destination, etc), and that's not to mention all of the franchises out there that I haven't seen yet that I could use this challenge to watch...🥴, so that may change drastically depending on clarification...lol. If you're reading this and have a franchise suggestion to help me make my pick, please give it to me, otherwise, I'll either make a last minute decision or I'll just end up watching multiple franchises😭😅
Once again, the way I organize my list is by category, not (necessarily) in the order I'll watch them in, and it's organized as such:

]]>Quick note about this list -> I could've made half of it just Elm Street films (that's how much I love that franchise, lol), but I felt I needed to be at least a little fair & give films that I gave higher ratings to than my lower rated Elm Street films a chance, so I limited myself to just 3 films featuring Mr. Krueger, with all sorts of 80s horror films that I absolutely love and/or adore.
Bust out those shoulder pads and get dressed to kill: in honor of MaXXXine’s premiere, we’re re-animating the gnarliest ’80s horror for this week’s Showdown. Scare up a list of ten of your favorite nightmares—on Elm Street or otherwise—released into 1980s society, a shining era of poltergeists, aliens, hellraisers, manhunters, ghostbusters and so many sequels. ]]>It seems my Hooptober Lists are becoming much like reverse Star Trek films (all the odd ones are good years for me, and all the even ones are bad ones). I say that because I nearly completed my first outing with this horror challenge (Hooptober 7), but with the next year's list (8), I fell way behind on completion, but last year (Hooptober Neun) I managed to slay the beast and watch ALL the films on my list!!! So pray for me that I can break this cycle and go 2-for-2 on consecutive challenge completions!

]]>"Mama mia! You just saw three monkeys go by on a motorcycle, didn’t you? As the new Dungeons & Dragons and Super Mario Bros. movies land in cinemas, we’re heading into uncharted Showdown territory. Board games, video games, tabletop games, childhood games, party games—we tag you to roll the dice and walk us through your ten favorite game-based movies, where the plot is derived from the rules of the game. Would you rather battle a ship full of double dragons, angry birds or the werewolves within? We haven’t a clue about the origin of resident evil, so it’s time to turn Pokémon detective and scrabble around alone in the dark. Ready or not!
]]>Below is the list of films I plan on watching for this year's March Around the World 2023 challenge. Last year, I did extremely poorly (I think I only managed to watch 2 or 3🙈), so my goal this year is to watch at least half of the films I've put on my list this year!
In the notes for each film, I have the country that film is representing in my "March Around the World". I can't wait to watch a number of these films and open my mind to the films that come out from all across the globe😀
Taken from this year's challenge list ( ):
*** The Challenge***
Watch and review 30 feature films from 30 different countries in the month of March including 1 film from New Zealand.
The Rules
1. Feature films only (60+ min)
2. No re-watches.
3. Only films watched, logged and reviewed in March 2021 count.
4. One film must be from New Zealand.
5. Log your films with 2 tags: tag 1: **30 countries 2021** , tag 2: the film's **country*** e.g., New Zealand
Egypt
I will do this while we walk

]]>Like most horror movie sequels, my second year attempting this challenge was an utter disaster (mind you I had just gotten a new job and was going through some life changes, but still). So, this year is the year I finally complete this great challenge!! I'm manifesting it!
Like my lists usually tend to be, there's a lot extra, mainly because I'm not 100% decided on which film I wanna watch for a specific criteria, and I wanna have options in case a film I want to watch is no longer streaming (seeing as how we don't officially start until September 15th). And while the Stephen King criteria needs to be a remake, I've basically seen all his remakes, so I decided to add a couple of first films of his I haven't seen.
Once again, the way I organize my list is by category, but necessarily the order I'll watch them in, and it's organized as such:
QUICK EASY RULES:
There must be 31 films
6 countries:
- Ichi the Killer (Japan)
- Raw ()
- I Saw the Devil (South Korea)
- Hantu Kak Limah (Malaysia)
- The Doll (Mongolia)
- The Guardian (Vietnam)
8 decades:
- The Mummy (1930s)
- Dracula (1950s)
- Planet of the Vampires (1960s)
- House (1970s)
- Monster Dog (1980s)
- The Exorcist III (1990s)
- Triangle (2000s)
- The Deep House (2020s)
2 insect centered films:
- Mimic
- The Swarm
1 horror film set in space or the future (relative to when it was released):
- Dead Space: Downfall
2 animated films:
- Dead Space: Downfall
- Dead Space: Aftermath
1 bloodthirsty old person/people film:
- The Taking of Deborah Logan
2 1970s regional US films (Thanks Sean Young):
- The Town that Dreaded Sundown
- Don't Look in the Basement
The worst horror sequel from the 1990s that you haven't seen and can access. (I realize that this will take a little work):
- Howling VII: New Moon Rising
1 German Silent:
- The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
5 Films from Cronenberg, Ti West, Bill Rebane, Charles B. Pierce, William Grefe and/or Joy N. Houck Jr.:
- The Brood/Shivers (Cronenberg)
- Pearl/The House of the Devil (West)
- Death Curse of Tartu (Grefe)
- The Giant Spider Invasion (Rebane)
- Night of Bloody Horror (Houck Jr.)
2 Christopher Lee films:
- Dracula
- The Wicker Tree
1 film with a musician or band in it:
- Monster Dog (Alice Cooper)
1 Stephen King adaptation that is not the first go around:
- Carrie (2013)
1 Lon Chaney film:
- The Phantom of the Opera
And 1 Tobe Hooper Film (There must ALWAYS be a Hooper film):
- Eaten Alive
Extra Work:
- The Last Circus
- Silent Madness
- Pennywise: The Story of It

]]>Seeing as how the MCU is now a monster franchise (and has been for a while now) with 23 movies and 2 shows with multiple episodes (at the time of making this list), with more well on the way, I decided to make some lists for those new to this franchise who don't have time to watch everything, or for those who just want to rewatch a certain character's story arc throughout the franchise.
This is what to watch in order for Scarlet Witch's story in the MCU to make sense to a viewer.* This also goes for the character of The Vision.
*Disclaimer: I do highly suggest that you watch the entirety of the MCU if you haven't done so already and have the time to do so. There are many great films in this franchise, and they are all worth your time and experience.

]]>*Dates subject to change. This will be a continuously updating list (actually, just before making this public, the date for Hotel Transylvania 4 changed), as films are given new date releases, and more films have their releases for this year first revealed (looking at you Netflix, they'll be added and put where they need to be. I'll also be removing the films from this list as the dates arrive and the films come out.
Release dates, Studios, and Where to Watch (i.e. streaming, in theaters, on demand, etc.) in notes... if info was available.
Following the December released movies, I'll be adding films that have already released this year that I haven't seen, so this will slowly become my 2021 Films to Watch list.
December 17, Searchlight Pictures & TSG Entertainment, Theaters
December 17, Endeavor Content, Netflix
December 17, Apple Studios, Apple TV+
December 22, Universal Pictures & Illumination, Theaters
December 25, Lionsgate, Theaters
