Beauty is pain… and this one hurts so good!

Holy hell, the vibes? Immaculate. I didn’t know I needed a twisted, body-horror-infused remix of Cinderella until it crawled under my skin and made me squirm. The visuals? Visceral. Gross. Glorious. I gagged. I applauded.

The story weaves in those all-too-familiar social pressures, the kind you follow just because your whore of a mother says it’s what good girls do. And Elvira, the tragic mess, I felt for her, truly. But…

Sophie Thatcher is that girl. She commands the screen with a star power that’s undeniable, delivering a layered performance brimming with complexity. She’s a star, baby!

I only wish the marketing hadn’t spoiled the twist. If audiences had experienced the reveal for the first time during the movie itself, it would have been a total serve. That said, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story. Drew Hancock directs the clever premise with stylish flair, punctuated by well-executed…

I’m honestly baffled that this film isn’t more well-known. Slap John Hughes’ name on it, and I guarantee it would’ve been hailed as an 80’s teen classic.

It’s a dark-ish comedy that stands out from the usual teen movie crowd of its era. What really works is the main character, he’s labeled a “nerd,” but he’s not your typical pocket-protector type. He’s more of a strait-laced square who’s surprisingly open to causing a little chaos.

The humor leans cynical, but…

One thing I knew for sure going in was that Trey Edward Shults would deliver something stylish and abstract, and wow, did he ever. From a technical standpoint, the film is meticulously crafted and visually stunning.

That said, I couldn’t fully connect with it, largely because of the casting choice for the pop star grappling with mental health issues. No shade, but his performance lacked emotional depth, and I never quite bought into it. The film needed a stronger actor.…

Haha I feel swindled. What I thought was going to be a lowkey supernatural horror was ACTUALLY some right-wing propaganda spewing that demons are in fact real and so is God. Also, all encounters with some type of evil are apparently enough reason to convert any atheist. Believe!

In all seriousness, the setup is actually sufficient and intriguing. There’s a confidence in the filmmakers’ approach that’s commendable. However, all credibility is thrown out the window when instead of maybe commenting…

I know there isn’t a middle-aged dad alive who didn’t eat this up.

I only kinda knew Bob Odenkirk from Breaking Bad, so I wasn’t expecting this, but holy hell, he kills it. He hits every comedic note perfectly, and somehow, at nearly 60, pulls off brutal fight scenes with the energy of a guy half his age. Legit impressive.

The action? Totally over-the-top in the best way possible. It’s stylish, chaotic, and a total blast to watch. Sure, the…
