Si-eun, a brilliant but reserved student, faces the harsh reality of a school environment where violence, pride, and power struggles are an everyday occurrence. Despite his solitary nature, he unexpectedly forms bonds with others, but in a setting where even the slightest misstep can lead to extreme consequences, even death.

Characters and Development

Overall, I liked the characters quite a bit, but I didn’t feel a strong connection with many of them aside from the protagonist. I would have liked to see more depth, especially in the antagonists, to understand their motivations and personalities beyond conflict and action. I’m not saying they are flat characters or that it’s impossible to grow attached to them, but it would have been interesting to see more personal moments that bring us emotionally closer to them.

The series starts off strong, focusing on school violence in the first few episodes. However, the sudden shift involving a criminal gang in the following episodes didn’t fully convince me. I don’t think it was a bad idea, but the way it was handled left some loose ends. Despite being a complex and potentially traumatic situation, it is barely mentioned afterward, which weakens its narrative impact. In the end, the only lasting result of this arc is a new character who remains until the season finale, but I feel that they could have been introduced without all that drama.

Action and Narrative Pacing

The action scenes, while not the most outstanding in the genre, are entertaining and well-executed. One aspect I appreciated was that not all characters are skilled fighters, forcing them to find alternative ways to defend themselves or attack. However, some situations felt repetitive—someone gets into trouble, another person rescues them, and a fight breaks out. This pattern made certain moments predictable, and it would have been interesting to see more variation in how conflicts played out.

Acting and Season Two

The performances are quite strong and convincing, with Park Ji-hoon standing out as Si-eun. In key moments, his acting effectively conveys intense emotions like anger, despair, or sadness, giving his character more depth. Although he mostly maintains a serious and composed expression, when tension rises, he manages to subtly yet powerfully express the emotional weight of each scene.

Regarding the second season, the first season’s finale and the post-credit scene leave me wondering if the plot might be recycled. I hope that’s not the case and that they explore new directions, as it would be disappointing for the series to repeat itself when it has the potential to go further.

Conclusion

Do I recommend Weak Hero? Yes, but more specifically to those who enjoy teen dramas with plenty of action. If you’re looking for something more introspective and emotionally driven, this might not be the best choice.

Personally, even though I’m not the biggest fan of action dramas, I enjoyed the series. I did have a few small disappointments, but I it that part of it was due to my high expectations. I also know that the original manhwa is quite different from the series, so I might start reading it soon and possibly write a review comparing both versions.

That concludes my review. Thanks for reading until the end! ☺️

Swing Girls is a film that, although with a simple plot, manages to convey a great deal of charm and warmth. The story follows a group of girls from a rural school in Japan who, to avoid attending math classes during the summer, offer to deliver lunch to the of the school’s band. However, due to an accident, they end up ruining the food, causing all but one of the band to fall ill and unable to play. As a result, the girls are forced to step in and replace them, forming a jazz band.

The only member of the band who doesn’t get sick becomes the one responsible for teaching the girls, who have no musical experience. At first, they are not very enthusiastic, but little by little, they begin to enjoy the music and immerse themselves in the rhythm of jazz.

The film beautifully shows how music becomes something that unites the group of girls as they learn to play and enjoy the process, all in an upbeat and optimistic tone. Jazz is not only the heart of the movie, but also the spark that drives the characters' development, adding a fun and energizing layer to the story.

Although the plot is simple and sometimes a bit absurd, the movie strikes a perfect balance between realism and caricature. This blend becomes a formula that maintains a constant spark of comedy and, above all, a deep love for jazz, which is at the core of the story.

The characters, although not deeply philosophical or complex, become endearing as the story progresses. Despite their exaggerated and caricatured moments, they manage to win our affection, allowing the audience to connect with them.

In conclusion, it's a film that doesn’t aim to leave you with deep reflections or philosophical complexity. Its charm lies in its innocent and heartwarming plot, which invites you to enjoy a light and pleasant journey. It’s the perfect movie for those moments when you just want to relax and enjoy a fresh and endearing story.

This is the third time I’ve watched this film, and each time I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. For me, Swing Girls is like a comforting hug: I know there won’t be any complex drama or heavy themes, but instead, I’ll find myself in a cozy place, able to relax and get lost in its tender story and music.

Finally, since I’ve already reviewed this film in the past, I chose not to repeat all of the same points. Instead, I focused more on the development of the story this time. I hope you enjoyed this review. Thank you to those who read it all the way to the end. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve my reviews, feel free to mention them. ☺️

Drawing Closer tells the story of Akito, a 17-year-old young artist who, after being diagnosed with a heart tumor and given a year to live, decides to put aside his ion for art. On the other hand, Haruna, a solitary girl of the same age, suffers from a rare illness that threatens her life in just six months. Despite their different circumstances, they meet seemingly by chance, but this encounter will change their lives irreversibly.

The film shows how the connection between Akito and Haruna deepens over time, leading to a relationship filled with pure, sincere love. Their expressions of affection, though simple at first glance, are deeply meaningful, such as when Akito gives Haruna gerbera flowers—a gesture that, aside from being an expression of affection, carries particular symbolism in the number of flowers. Both share an internal struggle against despair, guilt, and the anxiety of their destinies, but through their mutual companionship, they find comfort and rediscover the beauty of living fully in the months they have left.

What truly stands out in Drawing Closer is the deep connection it creates with the characters. Their emotions, motivations, and dreams are palpable, making it easy for the audience to form an immediate and sincere bond with them. The script does an excellent job of showing how the characters evolve emotionally, facing adversity with a bravery that is truly inspiring.

In of the technical aspects, the film has a balanced pace that never feels too slow or rushed. This pace allows the story to unfold naturally, giving the characters time to grow and the plot to resonate effectively. The visuals are delicate and poetic, enhancing the emotions throughout the film. The color palette and scene composition emphasize the sense of fragility and beauty in each moment. The soundtrack, serene and heartfelt, complements this atmosphere perfectly, helping to immerse the viewer in the emotional world of the characters.

I recommend this film to those who enjoy dramas that tackle complex and emotional themes, especially those that explore love and acceptance in difficult circumstances. Personally, it moved me deeply, and I was touched by its story. Without a doubt, it was a very rewarding experience, and I could see myself watching it again in the future.

This review may contain spoilers.

Millennium Actress by Satoshi Kon follows the story of Chiyoko, a retired famous actress who, through an interview with Genya, a filmmaker who is a fan of her filmography, reflects on her career and the most significant moments of her life. Throughout the film, Chiyoko not only searches for her beloved in her real life, but this search merges with the characters she played in her films. This intertwining of fiction and reality creates a unique experience where Chiyoko’s life and career become one.

One of the most notable elements of the film is its narrative structure. It is often difficult to distinguish whether what we are seeing is a memory from Chiyoko’s real life or a sequence from one of her films. This ambiguity between fiction and reality adds a layer of complexity and mystery that invites reflection, keeping the viewer engaged until the end. Throughout the movie, we see Chiyoko in different eras and situations, always in search of her beloved, which creates an interesting dynamic between the character’s identity and the many facets she adopts in her career.

The man Chiyoko is searching for is essential to her emotional journey, but the film does not delve deeply into his life or personality. We know he is a painter pursued during the Second Sino-Japanese War, but the fact that the film does not focus on him as a character is a narrative decision that reinforces the idealized nature of the love Chiyoko is seeking. Instead of focusing on a concrete character, the film highlights the concept of a love that transcends the physical, becoming an obsession and a symbol of hope and ion. What matters, more than the man himself, is what he represents for Chiyoko: an idealized love that, despite not being realized, is the driving force of her life.

The film also explores the theme of personal purpose. After giving up her search for love, Chiyoko experiences a sense of emptiness. This emptiness not only reflects an emotional loss, but also a reflection on how people define themselves by their dreams and ions. Chiyoko’s story highlights that, as we grow older and our goals change, it is important to find a sense of purpose that drives us forward and gives meaning to our experiences.

In of technical aspects, the soundtrack and animation perfectly complement the narrative. The music, combined with the detailed animation work, creates an atmosphere that enriches the visual and emotional experience of the film. Satoshi Kon stands out for his ability to blend the real and the surreal seamlessly. His direction makes memories and films feel tangible and emotional, creating a unique atmosphere that only he knows how to craft.

In conclusion, Millennium Actress is a reflection on life, dreams, and the challenges of self-discovery. Through Chiyoko’s journey, the film reminds us that the path toward our goals is not always linear or perfect, but it is the process itself that leads us to find meaning and joy. The film explores the importance of having a personal purpose, that vital sense that gives direction to our lives, and it does so in a deep and poetic way.

I highly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys introspective dramas and unique narratives. While its non-linear structure and the ambiguity between the real and the fictional may confuse some viewers, it is a rewarding experience for those seeking a story that explores themes of identity, love, and purpose. It was a deeply enriching experience for me, and this is the second Satoshi Kon film I’ve seen, after Perfect Blue, which I also loved. This second experience did not disappoint at all, and it left me wanting to explore more of his work.

Suzume 6b5u45 2022 - ★★★★ https://letterboxd.sitesdebloques.org/t0rtugg/film/suzume/ letterboxd-review-804113278 Sun, 9 Feb 2025 13:39:39 +1300 2025-02-08 Yes Suzume 2022 4.0 916224 <![CDATA[

The movie introduces Suzume, a kind-hearted young girl who is often haunted by the memory of her mother, one of the many victims of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Suzume meets Souta, a university student, and together they embark on an unexpected journey to prevent a series of devastating earthquakes from claiming thousands of lives.

The film is rich in Japanese folklore, blending Shintoism and ancient rituals through doors that open portals to monstrous worms. The deities, whose purpose is to stop these creatures from emerging, play a key role in preventing disasters and maintaining balance.

These doors, in addition to symbolizing natural disasters, also serve as a metaphor for unresolved trauma. Located in abandoned places marked by past tragedies, the doors represent how suffering can be ignored or “forgotten” but never truly healed. If we don’t face what we’ve left behind, that pain will come back, just like the worms that emerge from the portals.

The movie also subtly but powerfully explores the importance of communication and understanding in relationships. Through the bond between Suzume and her aunt Tamaki, it shows how both struggle to express and share their feelings, especially when it comes to dealing with pain and loss. Their difficulty in opening up to each other reflects how the lack of communication can hinder healing and emotional connection.

In conclusion, aside from being a mission to stop the worms and prevent disasters, the film is also a journey of personal growth. It’s about being able to accept and let go of the past, to understand ourselves, and to have the courage to confront a painful and important past in order to move forward. This is the core message of the film: the power of accepting the past to avoid being trapped by it and continue advancing.

Throughout the story, we’re accompanied by stunning animation and a beautiful soundtrack, which significantly complement the experience.

I recommend this film to those who enjoy introspective and fantastical stories that also carry a deeper message. Personally, I wanted to watch it a second time because I couldn’t give it my full attention during the first viewing due to some inconveniences. Despite that, the film is entertaining enough that I didn’t mind watching it again. While the story focuses on the main characters, I would have liked to know something more significant about some of the secondary characters, like Chika and Rumi. I think giving them a bit more development—perhaps showing more of their personalities or giving them a meaningful line—would have made them more memorable.

Kamikaze Girls by Tetsuya Nakashima tells the story of the unlikely friendship between two girls from completely different worlds: Momoko, a young woman fascinated by the Rococo period, and Ichigo, a rebellious biker from a gang. Despite their differences, the two start spending time together, forming a genuine bond that develops throughout the film.

The plot is light and highly entertaining, with comedic moments driven by exaggerated, eccentric characters. Although the characters may seem like they came straight out of a cartoon, this exaggeration adds a unique and fun energy to the movie. Despite their unusual personalities, both Momoko and Ichigo are well-developed, and their evolution over the course of the story feels genuine. It’s easy to empathize with them, and that’s what makes their friendship so endearing.

One of the standout aspects is the costumes: Momoko is highlighted by her beautiful lolita dresses, while Ichigo, with her biker style, perfectly reflects their personalities.

In summary, Kamikaze Girls is a fun and enjoyable film, perfect for those who enjoy extravagant stories with memorable characters. Its unique tone, blending humor and peculiarity, makes it stand out among other comedies. Personally, the film exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely watch it again.

In Picnic by Shunji Iwai, we are introduced to three main characters—Coco, Tsumuji, and Satoru—who are patients in an asylum with a strict prohibition on leaving. Throughout the film, we discover that each of them carries the weight of a painful past, with demons that continue to affect their present lives. The film offers a raw and realistic portrayal of their inner struggles.

One day, they decide to escape the asylum, believing that the end of the world is near. In search of a place to have a picnic while observing the supposed end of humanity, they venture into the outside world. This journey is not only a physical exploration but also a profound introspection, where the three characters face their inner demons and discover themselves along the way.

Despite its short duration, the film manages to make you sympathize with the protagonists, even without them directly explaining their desires or the traumas and emotional gaps they are facing. Their words, full of ambiguity, invite the viewer to read between the lines, suggesting more than what is said at face value. As they progress on their journey, layers of their fears and longings are revealed, creating emotional complexity that captivates the audience.

The story is simple yet powerful, filled with symbolism that is sometimes subtle and at other times more prominent. The cinematography is beautiful, capturing landscapes that perfectly complement the contemplative tone of the story. The soundtrack, soft and evocative, reinforces the introspective atmosphere, encouraging the viewer to reflect with each scene.

I recommend Picnic to those who enjoy films with symbolism and prefer a narrative that doesn’t rush, valuing contemplation over excessive drama. The calm pace allows for a deeper experience, ideal for those who wish to reflect without the need for a complicated plot. Personally, it left a positive impression on me, and I would gladly watch it again. This is my first encounter with Shunji Iwai’s work, and it has definitely left me wanting to explore more of his filmography.

A Scene at the Sea is a simple yet meaningful story about Shigeru, a deaf-mute young man, who rescues and repairs an old surfboard while working as a garbage collector. This simple act sparks his ion for surfing, while his girlfriend, Takako, also deaf-mute, provides unconditional throughout his learning process.

The film’s pace is deliberately slow and calm, a quality that remains consistent throughout, and instead of detracting from the narrative, it enhances the overall atmosphere. The long sequences without dialogue allow the viewer to feel closer to the characters, immersing them in a world of silences and gestures. This contemplative atmosphere, complemented by a beautiful and evocative soundtrack, invites reflection on the simplicity of daily life, where each small gesture and glance carries deep meaning.

The absence of dialogue from the protagonists and the minimal involvement of secondary characters force the viewer to pay attention to the details. Through gestures and facial expressions, one is able to emotionally connect with the characters, especially with Takako, who plays a crucial role as Shigeru’s pillar of throughout the film. She is the one who, with dedication and patience, accompanies him in his ion for surfing, always ready to help. However, although her presence is essential to Shigeru’s development, I would have liked to learn more about her as an individual. The film shows her love and service, but there is a lack of depth in her character, which makes her role feel somewhat one-dimensional compared to the emotional complexity she embodies.

The secondary characters, while present, do not leave a lasting impact and although they offer some relevant interactions, their development is sidelined, making the protagonists’ story feel at times somewhat solitary. I would have liked to see more depth in these characters and how their interactions with Shigeru could have enriched the narrative.

I would recommend A Scene at the Sea to those who enjoy everyday stories, without dramatic twists or fantastical plots, and who have the patience to appreciate a deliberately slow and contemplative pace. This film is not for those seeking a narrative full of action or drama, but for those who value stillness and silence. While the pace may be challenging for some, those who appreciate the subtleties of visual storytelling will find it a rewarding experience.

Personally, I enjoyed the film, though it didn’t completely captivate me. It left a good impression, though I would have liked more depth in the characters, which would have strengthened the emotional connection with them.

I decided to rewatch Citrus after about five years, as a friend mentioned that it is one of her favorite animes, and I wondered if my opinion of it would remain the same.

The series introduces Yuzu, an extroverted and charismatic girl who tends to challenge social norms but has a good heart, and Mei, her stepsister, who is more reserved, serious, and very self-demanding. The “opposites attract” dynamic between them is a recurring theme, although not entirely novel. While this creates some tension in their relationship, it also makes their interactions somewhat predictable.

One of the aspects that bothered me the most was how the initial interactions between Yuzu and Mei are developed. Some scenes involving gestures of affection and physical , such as kisses without consent, felt problematic. Although they don’t share a blood relation, the narrative establishes the stepsister bond from the very beginning, which makes their relationship feel uncomfortable at times. The romantic attraction between them, while understandable in certain contexts, could have been better handled from a more respectful and conscious perspective of boundaries.

Regarding the characters, I feel the series fails to deeply explore their motivations and complexities. Yuzu seems so focused on her relationship with Mei that her own development is limited, while Mei’s past, although it provides some context, is not delved into enough for us to fully understand her behavior. In general, the secondary characters are largely relegated to a superficial role, and the “third party” who threatens the main couple, though common, doesn’t offer much beyond the usual conflict.

Something that really bothered me when reading reviews and comments about Citrus is how many viewers seem to focus primarily on the “yuri” aspect of the series, reducing it to scenes of intimacy between two women. In many of these comments, the attraction to the protagonists seems to center more on the sexualization of their relationship than on the narrative or emotional elements of the story. This creates discomfort for me, as many of the interactions between Yuzu and Mei, particularly in the early episodes, are non-consensual and, in many cases, cross the line into abuse or manipulation.

It’s frustrating to see that, for some people, the main focus seems to be on the representation of a lesbian relationship, without considering the dynamics of power and consent that are present in the plot. I get the impression that many viewers do not reflect on what is actually happening on screen, and they focus solely on the satisfaction of seeing two women involved in intimate situations, without considering the problematic context underlying these scenes.

The plot, overall, is quite predictable, and even though it only has 12 episodes, it becomes somewhat monotonous as it progresses. The interactions between Yuzu and Mei, especially the sexual ones, are overly repetitive, making some episodes feel tedious. Although the last few episodes are somewhat more bearable and contain fewer uncomfortable scenes, the series as a whole still didn’t engage me.

In summary, Citrus wasn’t a series that convinced me. While it’s possible that those who enjoy the yuri genre might find something appealing in its romantic dynamic, personally, I didn’t connect with it, as I feel it lacks depth both in its characters and in its plot. Although it has some moments with potential, it mostly felt boring and repetitive to me.

This is an introspective film that explores the complexities of love between two teenage girls: Kirishima, a reserved girl, and Endo, her classmate. Throughout the story, they start as friends, but their relationship evolves, leading Kirishima to fall in love with Endo. Eventually, both are faced with a crucial revelation that will put their connection and future together at risk.

The pace of the film is deliberately slow, with long, still shots that invite reflection, but at times, they can feel excessive. Some sequences manage to immerse the viewer in the intimate atmosphere of the story, allowing us to experience the characters’ thoughts and feelings. However, at other times, this slowness may feel heavy for those who prefer a more dynamic rhythm. Despite this challenge, the film manages to hold attention, as its more languid moments allow for a deeper connection with the characters, though a bit more agility in the narrative wouldn’t have hurt.

The dialogues are minimal and, for the most part, subtle. The conversations are simple and everyday, like those anyone might have in their life, but the real focus is on the silence. Through these quiet moments, the film effectively conveys the unspoken emotions of the characters, inviting us to process their feelings without the need for words.

Additionally, it also addresses the transition from adolescence to adulthood, touching on themes of uncertainty and confusion about the future. The characters face that feeling of being lost, of not fully knowing themselves, which is common at this stage of life. The film delicately reflects how this lack of clarity about what lies ahead can affect not only personal identity but also the relationships we have with others, intensifying the characters’ vulnerability.

Regarding love, this film portrays the first love in a realistic manner, addressing its more vulnerable side. Through Kirishima and Endo, we see that teenage love isn’t always perfect, and it can be painful and full of uncertainty. It shows how the dreams and expectations of first love are often clouded by reality, challenging the innocence with which this stage of life is often lived.

I recommend Blue to those who enjoy slow, reflective films that explore deep human themes like love and self-discovery. It’s not a film for those looking for action or a fast-paced rhythm, but those willing to immerse themselves in its atmosphere and slower pace will find a story that invites reflection. Personally, while it wasn’t an overwhelmingly impactful experience, the film left a positive impression, and I wouldn’t hesitate to watch it again in the future.

Blue Spring is set in a high school marked by gang violence. The story follows Kujo, a young man who becomes the leader of one of these gangs. Throughout the film, the rivalries between different gangs and their struggles for power are explored, all while they approach the end of their school years. In this context of external tension, the film also raises a fundamental question: what to do with life after graduation? The characters face the fear and uncertainty of the future, a central theme in their transition from youth to adulthood.

One of the key symbolic elements of the film is the blossoming of a flower, used as a metaphor for personal growth. Each character has the opportunity to ‘water their flower’ – to nurture their dreams and aspirations – or to let it wither, reg themselves to the emptiness of an uncertain future. This symbolism is effective and ties well with the characters’ experiences, although at times, the subtlety with which it is handled may not be immediately clear to all viewers. However, the key moments in which the characters reflect on their lives make this metaphor a core emotional axis of the film.

That said, one thing I would have liked to see more of is a deeper development of the characters. While their internal struggles are shown, we don’t always get to know them more intimately or fully understand their frustrated dreams or the lack of purpose that motivates them. It would have been interesting to explore more of their personal stories and how these elements influence their decisions, which would have allowed for a deeper connection with them. This, without a doubt, would have enriched the film even more, especially since many of the characters are caught between youth and adulthood, making them easily relatable figures, but at times, they feel underexplored.

The film’s pacing is slow, which may not be to everyone’s liking, but it allows for a deep exploration of the characters and their internal conflicts. Some long, silent scenes reinforce the atmosphere of unease and reflection. While this can make the film feel somewhat slow, it also gives it a meditative quality that allows the viewer to connect with the characters’ existential dilemmas.

I recommend this film to those interested in introspective dramas about the transition to adulthood, self-discovery, and the struggle to find purpose in a world full of uncertainties. Personally, I found it to be a very rewarding experience, and I would definitely watch it again.

I had this series on my list since its release, but I never felt motivated to watch it, mainly because action and revenge stories aren’t usually among my favorite genres. However, I decided to give it a chance, and it entertained me enough to finish it in just two days.

The plot follows the protagonist, who, after the brutal murder of her father, decides to infiltrate the criminal organization he was part of with the mission of getting revenge. Throughout the series, the protagonist remains completely focused on her vengeance, with little exploration beyond that motivation. While her determination drives the story, it would have been interesting to see more complexity in her emotions or the dilemmas she faces, beyond the singular focus on her goal.

The pacing and structure of the series are effective: it stays focused on the main plot without unnecessary detours, maintaining tension and intrigue. However, some plot twists are predictable, which diminishes their impact at key moments. The fight sequences are intense and well-executed, but they don’t offer anything particularly innovative compared to other productions in the genre.

In conclusion, My Name is a solid and entertaining series, ideal for fans of action and revenge genres. While it didn’t surprise or innovate in its approach, it met my expectations, offering a plot that, despite being predictable at times, manages to hold interest until the end. It’s a recommendable series, but not the most outstanding within its category.

Tokyo Sonata is a deeply emotional and realistic work that presents the heart-wrenching dysfunction of an ordinary family, stripping away any idealization and revealing its vulnerabilities and contradictions.

The film follows a family of four : the father, an office worker struggling to maintain his authority at home while hiding his recent dismissal; the mother, a loving yet exhausted figure who tries to keep the balance; the older brother, who conceals his lack of job stability; and the younger brother, who secretly takes piano lessons in defiance of his father’s wishes.

As the story progresses, what initially seemed like a relatively normal family begins to fall apart under the weight of lies and secrets. Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s direction, with its slow and meticulous pace, allows the viewer to experience the emotional deterioration of the characters, who, in many ways, are relatable. Through their struggles, we see reflected real-life family conflicts, many of which could be found even in our own homes.

The film’s ending is one of its greatest surprises, leading the characters to a breaking point that raises a universal question: should they continue with old habits or risk changing? It’s a twist worth discovering on your own, as it enriches the film’s experience.

I highly recommend it to those looking for a raw and realistic take on family dynamics. The film doesn’t offer easy answers, but it invites reflection on power dynamics and the possibility of change. It is, without a doubt, a work I would love to watch again.

At first, I had very different expectations: I imagined a faster-paced story with more exaggerated and caricatured characters. However, what I got was something completely different, and I was honestly pleasantly surprised.

The plot is simple, yet charming. Three girls from a band decide to recruit a Korean girl as their vocalist for their school’s festival. What’s interesting is that, despite not delving into their personal stories or desires, the protagonists feel incredibly real. Their interactions are natural, and that makes it easy to connect with them without needing to know their entire backstory.

The pacing is deliberately calm and slow, with long, static shots that make the viewer feel like an observer in the scene, almost as if they were participating in those simple moments. This visual choice is effective in conveying the calmness and intimacy of the story, highlighting the small interactions and the genuine emotions of the characters.

The ending is somewhat predictable, but this doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of the experience. In fact, its freshness and simplicity are what truly stand out, becoming its greatest charm. Even though you can anticipate what will happen, the authenticity of the moments leading up to it makes everything feel satisfying.

I recommend it if you’re looking for something relaxed, simple, and realistic, that lets you enjoy the small things in life. If you enjoy films that focus on human relationships without unnecessary complications or drama, this is an excellent choice. Personally, I really enjoyed it and would definitely watch it again.

I recently watched Monster by the same director, Hirokazu Kore-eda, and after being so impressed, I decided to explore more of his filmography. Without a doubt, Shoplifters exceeded my expectations.

The film introduces the Shibata family, from a working-class background, whose resort to morally questionable actions to survive, protecting their crimes due to their invisibility within society. This portrayal of Japan’s marginalized working class also invites reflection on the concept of family, challenging the conventional idea that blood ties are what define a true family. More than a genetic bond, the film emphasizes that what truly matters is care and mutual love.

The story is fascinating, and as it progresses, it leaves subtle clues that spark our curiosity, creating the feeling that something more is happening beneath the surface. The narrative unfolds like a puzzle, piecing together mysteries as we delve deeper into the plot.

It also offers a critique of social inequality, showing how the system can overlook those who don’t fit into established molds. It’s a powerful reminder that people living on the margins of society have stories to tell, even though they are often invisible to others.

I highly recommend this film. It’s a cinematic experience worth experiencing, and personally, I consider it one of my favorites. I would definitely watch it again in the future.

The story is quite simple. Hikaru, a popular guy and band member, becomes close to Rihito, a model student, in order to help him improve his singing skills and rehearse together for the school festival. Despite being complete opposites, they end up growing closer and developing a relationship, falling into some of the typical clichés of this kind of story.

However, I wasn’t able to connect much with the protagonists. I felt their characters were a bit superficial, as if their relationship didn’t delve as deeply as it could have. Personally, I wasn’t convinced by their dynamic; it seemed somewhat one-sided, and I couldn’t perceive any significant growth in their connection.

That said, the movie is entertaining, with moments that made me laugh. I would’ve liked it to be a bit longer to allow more time for developing the characters and their relationships. Additionally, one aspect I really didn’t like was the portrayal of the teacher, who attempts to kiss one of the students. This character is almost treated as a comedic device, and although he gets hit on the head, I don’t feel like the gravity of the situation is properly addressed. That kind of situation should have been handled differently.

Still, the movie is quite concise, has some sweet moments, and is perfect for ing the time. Overall, I liked it, but I didn’t love it, as I mentioned before. I think I could watch it again in the future to see if my perspective changes.

Before I started watching it, I decided to watch a complete summary of the series because I was feeling a bit bored, but after finishing it, I got intrigued and decided to give it a chance. Honestly, my main motivation was that Park Sung-hoon appears in it, but it ended up captivating me much more than I expected.

The plot follows Moon Dong-eun, a woman who, after suffering school bullying, decides to carry out a meticulously planned revenge against her tormentors. The premise is fascinating, and the execution is excellent. With 16 episodes, the story maintains a steady pace from start to finish, and it was so addictive that I finished it in just two days.

It’s a series that really requires attention, as every episode provides key information. If you get distracted or don’t pay close attention to the details, you might get lost in the complexity of the plot. Despite my poor memory for names (which confused me a bit until about halfway through the series), I enjoyed it immensely.

I recommend it to anyone who enjoys k-dramas and revenge plots, but I should mention that the series contains scenes of violence, including domestic and school violence. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend it to those who are sensitive to these topics.

Personally, I didn’t expect to be so captivated by it, but it was a very rewarding experience, and I don’t regret watching it at all.

The Wizard of Oz is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and famous films in classic cinema. Its legacy has endured for generations, and while it is widely recognized, it has also been surrounded by controversies related to its production, costumes, and the working conditions of its actors. Being aware of these stories, my first encounter with the film was through these critiques. However, despite the behind-the-scenes difficulties, I still consider it a remarkable work that offers a captivating cinematic experience.

The plot of the film may seem simple at first glance: Dorothy, a young girl who is transported to a magical world, seeks to return home to Kansas. Throughout her adventure, she meets new friends; the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, who in many ways reflect the deficiencies Dorothy believes she has. But what is fascinating about the story is that, after facing the challenges of the Land of Oz and learning important lessons, Dorothy realizes that the qualities she most desired—the brain, the heart, and courage—are not outside of her but have always been within.

One of the features that really sets this film apart is its ability to blend entertainment with a profound and universal message. Although the story may seem aimed at a younger audience, Dorothy’s journey becomes a reflection on what we truly value in life. By being away from home and embarking on an adventure in Oz, Dorothy begins to understand that what she truly sought was not something external, like the brain, the heart, or courage, but recognizing what was already inside herself. This process of self-discovery and her growing appreciation for what she has at home are key elements of the story.

Moreover, has a unique ability to make every viewer feel connected to the characters, each of whom represents a fundamental human aspect: the desire to be smarter, the longing for love and empathy, and the search for courage to face our fears. Dorothy and her friends’ experiences resonate with all of us, making them easily relatable and human, despite the magical world they inhabit.

Another aspect that I find truly outstanding is the music. Personally, there is not a single song that left me indifferent; each one adds something unique to the overall atmosphere of the film, helping to authentically express the characters’ feelings. The melodies linger long after the movie has ended.

Visually is a true feast for the senses. The contrast between the gray and somber Kansas at the beginning of the film and the colorful, exuberant world of Oz is striking, almost like a symbolic journey from pain to hope and wonder. The use of color in Oz is not just an aesthetic choice but also reinforces the emotions and characteristics of the places and characters.

In short, The Wizard of Oz is one of those films that everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime, regardless of age. Personally, I took my time to watch it, but in the end, I have no regrets. I had a great time and found it to be a truly rewarding experience.

This review may contain spoilers.

Monster, directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, explores the complexity of love and identity through two children, Minato and Yori. The film offers a sharp critique of the societal pressures that dictate how we should be and with whom we should associate, leaving no room for questioning. Through their lives, the story highlights how these two children, despite their mutual affection, are forced to repress their feelings due to discrimination and judgment from others. For example, Minato asks Yori to avoid him at school because Yori is perceived as “weird” for not conforming to society’s expectations.

What makes Monster particularly interesting is that the narrative unfolds from multiple perspectives, deceiving the audience and challenging them to question what is really happening. It forces us to reflect on what it means to be a “monster” in a society that labels and marginalizes anything that doesn’t fit its idealized vision.

Kore-eda excels in creating a perfect atmosphere and pacing, generating a sense of constant anxiety that envelops the viewer from beginning to end. The uncertainty about the truth behind the events is palpable, maintaining emotional tension throughout. The film draws the viewer into a state of reflection and confusion, inviting them to reconsider perceptions and judgments about what is unfolding.

The ending of Monster is open to interpretation, allowing for multiple readings. Some argue that the scene where the children emerge after a storm and run towards the bright sun symbolizes their liberation, perhaps even death, granting them a final sense of freedom. The ambiguity of the conclusion leaves a profound impact, as the viewer is left with uncertainty, but also a reflection on the fragility of life.

Personally, I didn’t expect this film to affect me so deeply. Its raw and realistic storyline, along with its ability to make you question everything you see, makes it a profoundly emotional and surprising work. In conclusion, Monster is a powerful film that will not only leave cinephiles reflecting but also moved. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys stories that don’t shy away from addressing complex human and social issues.

Swing Girls is a 2004 Japanese film directed by Shinobu Yaguchi, blending music, friendship, and comedic moments in a story about a group of young students learning to play jazz. What surprised me the most about this film was how emotionally engaging it was. Although it may seem like a simple plot about a group of girls forming a band, the way the director develops the characters and the pacing of the film made every moment enjoyable and entertaining.

One of the film’s strongest points is undoubtedly its music. The jazz, which I love, is at the heart of the movie, and it feels genuine and refreshing. The climax, when the girls perform at the Music Festival, is so vibrant and energetic that I could watch it all day.

While the film is predictable at times and occasionally falls into absurdity, these traits don’t detract from its charm. It’s true that some plot twists could have been avoided to make it less formulaic, but the chemistry between the characters and the overall atmosphere make these small imperfections easy to overlook.

In summary, Swing Girls is a light, fun, and heartwarming film, perfect for those who are looking for something uplifting and without pretensions. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys great jazz and stories about personal growth through music. It’s a movie to watch and simply enjoy, without expecting something too deep.

This review may contain spoilers.

I decided to watch Ichi the Killer because lately, I’ve been interested in diving deeper into Asian cinema, specifically Japanese cinema. I had a feeling this could be a good choice to start with.

The Plot and Characters

I found the plot to be quite engaging, though undeniably very harsh and disturbing. As the movie progresses, it becomes clear that you can’t sympathize with any of the characters, as they’re all mentally disturbed and commit truly horrific acts, such as torture, sexual abuse, and self-mutilation, among others. This lack of “sympathetic” characters creates a very dehumanizing atmosphere that keeps you uncomfortable throughout the film.

One aspect I would have liked to see more developed is the motivation behind some of the characters, especially Jijii. His obsession with having Ichi kill people isn’t clearly explained, which left me a bit confused. I also feel that Kakihara, while having a very distinctive character, isn’t fully explored. His eccentric behavior and sadomasochistic fetish are left in the air, and it would have been interesting to learn more about his backstory and what led him to become who he is.

Cinematography and Visual Style

The cinematography is one of the film’s strongest aspects. I really liked the framing, color palette, and the overall atmosphere created throughout the film. These elements contribute significantly to the overall feeling of the movie, enhancing its dark and grotesque tone. The style and clothing of the characters also stand out. Kakihara, in particular, is visually striking. His colorful clothing, blonde hair, and the scars on his face make him unique and memorable. This contrast between his flamboyant appearance and violent actions adds an interesting layer to his character.

The Soundtrack

Another thing I’d like to highlight is the soundtrack. The music plays an important role in accompanying and intensifying the emotions and atmosphere of the scenes. At times, the music adds a lot to the tension or the contrast between the grotesque and the stylized nature of the images.

The Ending and My Interpretation

The ending of Ichi the Killer leaves us with several questions, allowing for different interpretations. Personally, I think the final scene reflects Kakihara’s downfall from his idealized view of Ichi. After witnessing Ichi crying and being beaten by a child, Kakihara realizes that his fantasy of Ichi as an unstoppable killer was just that—an illusion. In a moment of desperation, he decides to puncture his eardrums with torture needles, abandoning any hope of achieving the violent death he so desperately craved. He then enters a sort of hallucination, where Ichi takes control, kills the child, and deals a mortal wound to Kakihara. However, the reality is different: the child is still alive, and Kakihara dies only from the fall of his own body.

The final scene, with the child now a teenager looking back at Jijii hanging from a tree, is symbolic. It’s not a suicide, but rather a message that this dark past has been left behind.

Conclusion

In summary, Ichi the Killer is a film I would recommend, though I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece. It’s a visually and emotionally intense experience, and definitely a film that should be seen at least once in a lifetime, especially if you’re into Japanese cinema or cult films. That being said, it’s not for everyone, as it contains extreme violence, sexual abuse, and other disturbing themes that might be uncomfortable for many viewers.

Despite a few aspects that left me wanting more, like the lack of depth in some characters, the film is very effective in what it sets out to do. I’d like to watch it again, perhaps after reading the manga, to better appreciate how the story adapts and to see which elements of the manga are either lost or amplified in the film.

Thanks for reading. ☺️

Honestly, I didn’t have much motivation to watch it; I just stumbled upon a poster on Pinterest that caught my attention. Although I didn’t have high expectations at first, I was pretty surprised. The movie left me with a lot of questions, and as I watched the credits, I couldn’t stop thinking about what I had just seen.

The first 30 minutes are relatively calm, but then the story takes a drastic turn, leading to visually disturbing images and a progressively twisted plot. Even though I’m used to grotesque cinema, there’s one long scene of vomiting that I found pretty unpleasant—though that has more to do with my personal aversion to the topic than the content itself. Still, surprisingly, despite the grotesque visuals, the film also manages to be somewhat silly and comedic at times.

One of the most notable aspects was the use of the camera: long takes, unusual angles, and extremely close-up shots of faces. While some of these shots may seem senseless, others truly contribute to the film’s strange and bizarre atmosphere.

From what I understand, 964 Pinocchio was one of the works that influenced the cyberpunk in Japan, which is interesting from a historical perspective. Despite its experimental nature, this film is not for everyone. Its confusion and slow pace might bore some viewers, but if you’re into unconventional cinema, it’s worth checking out. I liked it quite a bit, but didn’t love it, and I might consider watching it again later to see if my perspective changes.

Cannibal Holocaust, directed by Ruggero Deodato, is a key film in extreme cinema that has generated controversy due to its explicit violence and the use of real animals. For years, it was censored in several countries, and it remains a topic of debate to this day. The film features such shocking images that many viewers initially believed the events depicted were real, especially the scenes involving animal sacrifices, which are disturbing and one of the most criticized aspects of the film.

My first encounter with this film was when I was around 11 years old. At the time, it didn’t impress me much, as I thought the only noteworthy aspect was the brutality of the scenes. However, upon rewatching it years later, my perspective has changed. The plot now seems more interesting to me, especially the mystery surrounding the lost reporters in the jungle and the intrigue about their fate. Although the first part can feel somewhat slow, the interactions between the guides, the anthropologist, and the indigenous tribes present intriguing cultural contrasts.

The second half of the film, better known for its graphic violence, reveals the darker side of the reporters, who are willing to do anything for the sake of spectacle and fame. This critique of sensationalism and the exploitation of cultures and tragedies is one of the film’s more complex layers.

Of course, the tribes are not portrayed as angels, but as societies with their own rules, completely disconnected from our notions of morality. This representation may be shocking, but it also forces us to question our own perceptions of what is ‘civilized’ and what is ‘savage.’

There is no doubt that Cannibal Holocaust is an extremely violent film, with scenes of sexual abuse and animal cruelty that are hard to endure. The use of real animals, in particular, remains one of the most criticized aspects, and while Deodato has expressed regret, the moral question is still debated — something I also deeply question. Despite its cultural impact, I wouldn’t recommend this film to sensitive viewers or anyone who is not prepared for such disturbing and graphic content.

In summary, while the film has merits in of its plot and special effects, the animal cruelty and explicit violence leave a bitter aftertaste. It’s a work that should probably only be seen by those with an interest in more extreme and realistic cinema, but it’s certainly not for everyone.

The Human Centipede is known for its disturbing premise: a doctor kidnaps three people and subjects them to a grotesque experiment, creating a “human centipede.” Directed by Tom Six, the film has become quite well-known within extreme horror cinema, especially for its ability to evoke disgust and shock. Over the years, it has gained notoriety for its macabre approach, which leads many to watch it out of morbid curiosity. And honestly, I’m no exception.

I first came across the film when I was about 11, and I’ve always wanted to see it, drawn by its reputation as one of the most disturbing films in cinema. However, I didn’t have the chance to watch it until now. At that age, like many, I had an enormous curiosity about the “forbidden” and the grotesque, although, to be honest, I’m speaking as if a lot of time has ed, when in fact I’m only 14 lmao. But as I suspected, The Human Centipede didn’t turn out to be as traumatic an experience for me.

The beginning, with the two main characters, Lindsay and Jenny, seemed a bit forced. Throughout the film, it’s clear that they have no survival instincts, but despite this, it’s hard not to feel some sympathy for them. The character of Katsuro, trapped in the same situation, brings a small spark of hope before a tragic twist that, although predictable to me, still has a certain impact. Tom Six does a good job of maintaining tension throughout, speaking from my experience. While the character development is rather limited, the atmosphere is still effective.

The setting, Dr. Heiter’s minimalist and orderly house, creates a striking contrast with the macabre experiment he conducts. This clean, cold aesthetic amplifies the horror of what happens inside. However, beyond the visually disturbing elements, what kept me intrigued was the uncertainty about how the story would end, which I consider a positive aspect in of suspense.

That said, in of emotional or psychological impact, I don’t think The Human Centipede is as traumatizing as some people claim. It’s definitely repulsive and could unsettle those with a higher sensitivity, but its main value seems to lie in its ability to generate controversy rather than offer any deep reflection. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend it to easily impressionable people, nor would I recommend it to just anyone in general. It’s a film that will likely divide opinions: for some, an unforgettable piece of horror; for others, simply an exploitation of the grotesque.

If you’re looking for something visually shocking with a plot that pushes the boundaries of conventional horror cinema, The Human Centipede might be a suitable choice. But if you expect something with deeper philosophical or emotional meaning, it will probably disappoint you.

When it was released, I went to the cinema with my friends, but after getting bored with the movie we had originally chosen, we snuck into the theater showing Wonka. Although the film was already halfway through, but we still stayed. Initially, I found it a bit boring and didn’t like it much. It wasn’t for any specific reason; I think it was just due to my personal taste in movies.

Now that I have a more varied taste in movies, I was able to appreciate what Wonka offers. Even though I’m not a big fan of musicals, I didn’t find the songs boring or forced. On the contrary, I found them catchy and well-executed, which reminded me of when I was a little girl, spending hours watching and singing along to musicals.

Visually, the movie pleasantly surprised me. The sets are beautiful and detailed, adding a magical touch to the story. These visual elements are key in a movie like Wonka, as they help immerse the viewer in the peculiar and fantastical world.

One of the most interesting aspects is how the film explores the relationship between Wonka and his mother. This dynamic plays a significant role in shaping his character, particularly his dreams and eccentricities. The way the movie portrays his connection with her adds emotional depth, helps explain his desire to create a fantastical world and providing insight into his motivations and the dreams that drive him.

In summary, Wonka is a movie that, while not one of my favorites, I found to be an enjoyable and well-made experience. Of course, we all have different tastes, so some people might love it while others might not, that's why I would recommend it to those who enjoy musicals, visually stunning films, and fans of the Willy Wonka universe.

The truth is that I had no motivation to watch it a second time; I just wanted to leave it on in the background while I did other things. But it hypnotized me, making me completely forget what I wanted to do and even making me enjoy it more than the first time, which was about three years ago.

Visually, it’s charming; I found the use of color beautiful, mainly green, orange and yellow tones, which created an incredible atmosphere and contrast. The performances by Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons are exceptional; both deliver a level of intensity that perfectly reflects their characters’ relentless drive and ambition, I don’t think I’ve seen them in any other major roles before, but they completely surprised me and left me satisfied with their performances. The music, jazz specifically, is a sensory experience that complements the narrative brilliantly.

The film maintains a steady pace and offers a story that, while simple, is deeply entertaining and emotionally resonant, which is why I highly recommend it to anyone

I ed this movie exists because I recently returned to the arms of my first love: black metal haha. While it’s entertaining, I think there are several aspects that could have been explored in more depth. The film focuses on the band Mayhem and the crimes and conflicts that defined their history, but in my opinion, it falls short in fully developing the background behind these events. I would have liked to see more about the evolution and key moments of the protagonists, particularly when it comes to their personal motivations and the internal tensions within the band.

One of the points I would have liked to see explored further is the context behind the crimes. As a viewer, I wanted to understand what drove the characters to commit such extreme acts, and the film doesn’t delve enough into their past or the circumstances that led them to make these decisions. In particular, Dead’s backstory is not given the attention it deserves. His childhood and internal struggles could have provided a more complete understanding of his character and the tragedies surrounding him.

These are, in my view, crucial elements that should have been considered. Still, the film can be enjoyed, as it’s entertaining enough. In conclusion, I don’t think it’s a great movie, but I did enjoy it.

I’ve already seen it 3 or 4 times before, if I’m not mistaken, and I’m glad I was able to enjoy it each time. I think the actors did a great job, and I must it that I really like the soundtrack, as there are several songs I enjoy. The pace of the film is good, though a little rushed in my opinion, and I would have liked them to delve a bit deeper into the characters, even if that meant a longer runtime.

I’ve also read the book—twice, in fact—and I think the movie is a good adaptation. However, personally, I prefer the book, as there were quite a few things left out that I would have liked to see, such as more scenes between Charlie and his sister. Since she is such a close family member, it would have been nice to see more interaction between them.

There are also mentions of drugs in the film, but they are presented more discreetly and in minimal moments. These and other changes make the film softer compared to its original inspiration, which is fine, though I personally appreciated the transparency and complexity of the book more.

That being said, I still really like the movie and would recommend it. I think it’s a good option to the time—it’s entertaining but also has its conflicts and emotional depth, which have made me cry more than once lol.

Ngl, what prompted me to watch it was that an edit of this film appeared on TikTok with the song Déjate Caer by Los Tres. It was an unexpected combination, but I liked it, so I decided to give the movie a try. I didn’t have high expectations, but it really surprised me. The plot, although seemingly simple at first, has an underlying complexity that draws you in and keeps you engaged for the entire two hours.

One aspect that really caught my attention was the use of color, which is one of its strongest elements. For example, the first time we see Ernie’s restaurant, the dominant red of the interior contrasts sharply with Madeleine’s green dress—something visually captivating that draws our attention where it’s most needed. The cinematography is full of such details, which elevate the overall aesthetic of the film.

I also appreciated the pacing. The film doesn’t rush to resolve its mysteries; instead, it allows them to unfold gradually, creating suspense that builds effectively. Overall, I really enjoyed the film. It was a pleasant surprise and left me curious about this director’s other works.

I’ll start by saying that visually, it is charming. One aspect I really liked was the color palette; its orange, yellow, beige, and red tones give it a more original and distinctive identity. I also really ire and appreciate stop-motion animation; in fact, that was one of the main reasons I decided to watch the film.

It’s a fun and entertaining movie, but also emotionally impactful. Although the characters are animals, they have internal conflicts that almost anyone could relate to. Take Mr. Fox’s midlife crisis, for example—he looks back on his youth, which has ed, and longs to regain it, without considering the potential consequences. While this desire leads to significant challenges, it also brings resolution and redemption. This is the film’s central theme, and I think it was executed and developed very well. Additionally, there’s the subplot of Ash, who lives in the shadow of his father’s legacy, constantly seeking his approval while being socially excluded. He was one of the characters with whom I most empathized, identifying with him on several occasions.

Though it’s a family and children’s film, it tackles identifiable, yet somewhat complex themes that are worth analyzing. That’s why it had such an emotional and personal impact on me. I truly consider it a beautiful and captivating film, and I highly recommend it.

Although it doesn’t have a long duration, it maintains a slow pace with long shots, presenting several teenagers from multiple parallel points of view (which I quite liked), portraying their realistic interactions. I believe the slow pace helps us delve deeper into the experience, making us feel as though we are part of a regular school day, only to face its tragic and harsh ending, which may provoke concern or negative emotions in the viewers. I particularly appreciated the long takes and the minimal dialogue, as it’s not necessary to explain everything to the audience — the film lets itself unfold. In conclusion, I don’t think it’s an amazing movie, but I enjoyed it and can appreciate it for what it is.

I had to rewatch it bc I was too drunk the first time, so I don’t much. I only crying a lot over Dumbledore’s death, and even after the movie ended, I kept crying. Now that I’ve watched it sober, I can say it still hurt a lot, and yes, I cried again. I had underestimated my sensitivity, which was a big mistake bc I’m a total crybaby. It’s completely incredible. Visually and aurally, it is wonderful; its settings are charming, and I would love to see it on the big screen. It’s true that there is minimal dialogue throughout the film, but that’s not a problem—at least not for me. We must allow them to explain to us visually what doesn’t need words, and let the beautiful sound accompany us, whether through its captivating melodies, everyday sounds, or almost inaudible noises. I appreciated the execution of these two elements together, which managed to create the perfect atmosphere and constant tension. The absence of dialogue allows the audience to be more immersed in the sensory experience, feeling the tension building through the visuals and sounds rather than relying on spoken words.

I must it that between HAL, the artificial intelligence, and the viewer, the exact tension is created—since, even when shown merely as a circle with a red dot, it can still be unsettling. HAL’s simplicity in form contrasts with the complexity of its role, heightening the sense of unease and the unknown.

The ending was especially captivating; it left me with a sense of reflection and invited me to question the deeper themes of the film. Rather than providing clear answers, it encourages personal interpretation, making us confront the philosophical and existential implications of the story.

I saw it about 7 years ago, so I didn’t much of it. However, since I was younger at the time and a fan of horror movies, it scared me a little, though I still liked it. Now that I’m watching it again, it doesn’t seem like much. The plot is predictable and, at times, somewhat silly. The beginning was promising, but the ending felt dramatic and a bit exaggerated. The scares are typical in the sense that they rely on loud noises and sudden movements, which only result in brief shocks. The film doesn’t create tension or genuine fear at any point. I do think it had potential, but it wasn’t fully realized or executed as it could have been. I wouldn’t watch it a third time, though maybe I would in another 7 years.
