the first half of this movie was great, but the second half????? it had me salivating, levirating, heart-pounding, standing out of my seat (metaphorically), fist pumping, yelling “FREEDOM
MMMMMMM” (looking at you Braveheart). 

this is one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen. the detail in the cgi is insane—then again, I can’t expect anything less from a Villeneuve movie. do you know how HARD it is to adapt a book like Dune into a GOOD movie???? (hint: incredibly hard!!!!!!!!). the plot was plotting, the acting was phenomenal (literally not one bad performance), the visuals out of this world (no pun intended), the sound design, the amazing score—all hits, no misses. and above all, I think the movie perfectly portrayed Paul’s complicated character arc and poses a good question of if he’s a hero or a villain. it’s hard not to root for them as they take down their oppressor’s behind Paul’s lead, but it leaves an ominous feeling as we watch their ships take off to start an intergalactic jihad… while Chani walks away pissed. I’ll have to watch again to get a better grasp, but all I do know is that this is cinema 🫶🏻🤌🏻
