Matt Singer’s review published on Letterboxd:
This movie features Owen Wilson, Matt Dillon, and Seth Rogen as lifelong best buds. Dillon is four years older than Wilson, who’s 14 years older than Rogen. And Dillon’s new wife in the movie is played by Kate Hudson, who’s 15 years his junior. The casting is just odd. I spent the whole film trying to figure out whether Rogen and Hudson were playing older than they really are or if Dillon and Wilson are playing younger than they really are, at least until Dupree mentions being 36 which I guess means Rogen’s Neil is just an extremely youthful looking man.
(Also strange: In one sequence, Wilson beds Hudson’s co-worker,and inadvertently sets Dillon and Hudson’s house on fire. The face of Wilson’s partner is never shown, despite her having a sex scene with one of the main characters, being caught in this terrible fire, and then having a whole exchange afterwards with Owen Wilson. Huh?)
