Matt Singer’s review published on Letterboxd:
The cartoon shoe being executed by Judge Doom is still low-key one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen in a movie. Right as Doom shoves this poor creature into “The Dip,” the shoe flashes him this pathetic look, a look that says, “Really? You’re doing this to me? I’m nothing. I’m so helpless I don’t even have arms to fight back.”
And then Doom murders him anyway. He kills a sentient shoe. He turns him into an ink and paint stain. To prove a point.
Rated PG by the MPAA!
Then, at the end of the movie, the toons celebrate their victory by literally dancing on Doom’s liquified corpse. Kids movies were so much more fucked up when I was a kid.
