Jaws would have eaten two people in the opening scene if one of them hadn’t been too drunk to swim. Excessive alcohol consumption saved that young man’s life. Given the fact that I once (half-jokingly) described this movie as “the tragic story of a bunch of alcoholics who hunt down and murder a fish for the crime of being really hungry,” this is actually kind of interesting to think about.
