Less the remake of the beloved classic it's been marketed as and more an Eric Draven origin story (Eric Draven: A Crow Story would have been a more apt title) . Leone turned down The Godfather to make this. He made the right call. An epic in every sense of the word. Some of the most gorgeous cinematography ever put on film, a score that's somehow even better than Morrciones western work and the scathing indictment of an American culture that glamorises gangsters as cool or honourable.
