This documentary tries, it’s really does but Candy deserves a documentary about her life that isn’t going to continually talk about trans people as if they’re aliens and not fully fledged dynamic humans with just as much heart and value as any other human. The archival footage is amazing. Being able to see candy being herself is freeing, however the commentary surrounding this footage has a very negative tone on transgender people that cannot be looked over. We love you Candy Darling, thank you for everything you did for us. It is not taken for granted and will never be forgotten.

This speaks more about the complexities of gender and sex in the 27 minutes of its run time then I learned in any of the sex and health classes I took growing up in the American school system. I also love how Max continuously provides resources able to others in their transitions.
