There was a random edit in a slight montage where it just cuts to Ryan Gosling eating honey combs and looking at the cereal box out of nowhere. There was no point of showing that in the context of the scene but I just found it really funny to point out.

Movie was fine, I personally don't really like some of the messaging and some character choices at the end but it was decently funny when it was at moments. I didn't realize Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone were playing a couple in a movie before La La Land came out but I thought their chemistry was really cute. I wish they had more scenes together. Also why was Josh Groban in this movie for no particular reason?

After revisting the '61 film adaptation, I thought to give this version a chance since I've actually never seen this in a full viewing. Now that I have, I might prefer this one over the '61 version. That one still has elements I either prefer or equally enjoy, but this adaptation has a significant better way of telling the story and focusing more on the themes of the film. While I still find the '61 adaptation to have a more impactful way of visually showing the musical and dance sequences. But I also adore the way this version did the musical sequences too. Both have a distinct way of portraying the scenes with their own unique style of storytelling. By the way, this film was stunning to look at with the color grading and lighting choices.

This adaptation does a much better job of writing the characters and giving majority of them clear development. As well as executing the themes of immigration, class, racism, and violence pretty effectively. Even if some characters still have infuriating choices, at least the film expands character moments that can have those choices make sense for those characters. Also this film handles Puerto Rican representation way better, writing the Sharks way more than depicting them as stereotypes and actually casting actors who are either Puerto Rican and/or Latin descent. Rita Moreno returning in this adaptation but playing a different character with depth not just for a small cameo was really clever, I loved her in this film, her version of "Somewhere" got me a little emotional. She was also an executive producer for this film so that's pretty cool! I even love that the character Anybodys got way more development, I honestly thought it was sweet the filmmakers casted a non-binary actor for Anybodys which was a nice touch.

The performances in general were really good, but Ansel Elgort is definitely the weakest part of this film though. Not just for the fact the actor is a terrible person who belongs in jail, his performance wasn't as great if you're comparing it to everyone else who is running circles around him. Aside from that, Mike Faist, David Alvarez, Ariana DeBose, and Rachel Zegler specifically were all great..Ariana DeBose especially, who won an Oscar for their performance just like Moreno did in the same role in the orginal.

I'm honestly really close of wanting to give this five stars, I personally don't have much issues with this film. Maybe the plot structure and pacing drags a bit. This version is a lot more darker and more instense while still being closer to the orginal stage show's structure for the songs and the story. Overall, I just enjoyed this film surprisingly a lot more than I was expecting.

I wanted to revisit this film for awhile and one of the reasons my late grandmother's birthday was on the 9th of this month, she would've turned 75 this year. She was one of my relatives I was very close to, she raised me the majority of my childhood. She ed away in 2018. The main reason I re-watched this film was that it was one of her favorite movies. So much that she showed this film to me at age 7, I think she wanted me to love and appreciate this film as much as she did. Being that I was a kid...I couldn't fully understand the context of the story nor the themes. But I do being memorized by the dance sequences, especially the beginning.

I still think the dancing in this film is fantastic, though I couldn't help but chuckle at the opening dance sequence between the Jets and the Sharks. I'm sorry, it was hard to take seriously at first. But as the film went on, I was able to get hooked in the intensity of the fight scenes. I personally enjoyed this on a re-watch, especially deeply understanding the themes better as an adult. Most of this film holds up, while some elements don't age as well. The casting of Natalie Wood as Maria was a miss-cast, due to her being an white actress portraying as Puerto Rican. I just blame it on the casting directors, not her. Despite that she was acting her heart out in this performance. Some of the actors for the sharks weren't actually Puerto Rican or in the Hispanic/Latin region, most of them were white actors in brown face... One of the closest Puerto Rican actors they had cast was Rita Moreno as Anita (sadly her skin was darkened with make-up though). I personally thought Rita Moreno was the best part and her character I felt the most bad for. Moreno ate this role, which led her to getting an Oscar for "Best ing Actress," validly so. Probably another issue I have is that I thought the film was a bit vague with executing the themes about racism and such...or at least the motivations for the characters. Obviously the point was how infuriating most of the characters chose the path that they did, the build up of creating war and ending war with violence and hate. It's a hit and miss with the story.

Despite all of that, I still ired a lot about this film, The musical numbers, the choreography, the usage of color, costume deg, the cinematography, the editing at times, and the build up for the stakes of the film actually did get me invested. I can probably understand why my grandmother loved this movie or at least saw her perspective. She was born and raised in Costa Rica while not the same as Puerto Rico, it was still in the Hispanic/Latin region. I do her telling me she actually saw this in theaters when it came out, she was 11 and possibly already moved to America around this time. Another point I would like to add, my grandmother's original name was Maria...and one of the main characters is named Maria. I may or may not have gotten teary eyed while listening to the song "Maria." I do agree with Tony: "The most beautiful sound I've ever heard." Another reason I can see is this might've been the closest representation she got or connected to at the time, despite the stereotypical depiction of Puerto Ricans or Hispanic representation (it was 1961 after all). Even with issues I have, I can still see why this film meant a lot to her and pretty much the reasons I hold this musical close to me, I will always miss her dearly and this film and other things is what helps me feel close to her in spirit.

I really thought they got another actor that look just like Michael B. Jordan.

This is just a beautifully shot film btw, and one of the rare cases we got a horror musical. I'm gonna have to relisten to the soundtrack, the songs were really good. That one dance sequence, oh my god. The sound design in that scene was incredible. I could feel the sound kicking my back from the seat. I was surprised how much this wasn't as scary at all, I don't know why I was worried it would be. But it was very suspenseful and definitely had an eerie tone. I personally have a small nitpick with the structure of the film, it just took longer with the plot to happen. But I understand the movie had to built it up slowly. The pacing was pretty sharp though, like those 2 hours flied by pretty fast. Overall, I really enjoyed it, this definitely earns the praise it's been getting. I'm appreciating an original film getting the attention.

It is a bit weird that the movie forgets that Anastasia and the Baker didn't exist (well, technically this is before she meets the baker but idk). I like to head cannon this as an "alternative universe," things didn't go the way they should've and Lady Tremaine decided to fuck up the timeline and tries to constantly control her daughters' lives. And it also gives more development for Anastasia (which I always appreciate). Or maybe...I shouldn't think too hard, this is a direct to DVD Disney sequel (CALM DOWN SOPHIE).

I'm not even sure if I should rate it this high but you know what? I really adore this movie. It has issues obviously but it's a lot of fun and I enjoyed how bonkers things got. I love Cinderella has more time to be active in her own story, the mouse shenanigans are balanced out with Cinderella getting more screen time. The prince also gets way more develop, he's honestly really nice and very polite in this movie. I find it interesting that they got Christopher Daniel Barnes to voice the Prince for this and Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True. Which he also voiced Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid (1989). Voicing two Disney princes is just wild to me. Yes, and we all know the iconic jumping out of a window scene. It never gets old.

Also the King sort of also gets more develop other than he wants grandchildren. He realizes what marriage truly is about and we see his inner self when he expresses love for his deceased wife. The seashell scene is just super sweet. Also Anastasia getting more time to show how much she wants to redeem herself and just wants someone to love and accept her for being her. Don't worry Anastasia, you'll get the sweet baker guy and you both will live a happy life. I hope Drizella gets herself a better life too and away from her mother's toxicity.

This movie didn't need to exist but I'm glad it's does either way, at least this movie wanted to have fun and expand on character moments, they were a nice touch. Also this movie means a lot to me in the nostalgia department, I got this on DVD when it first came out as I was 7. I occasionally come back to this once awhile. It's just a decent comfort movie.

That shopping cart movie looks bad but I would've totally watch it. It's giving me Herbie the Love Bug vibes (which was probably the full intention).

This was pretty fun, despite the majority of the movie was kind of depressing, since this is supposed to be set during the Cuban Missile Crisis and validly so.

Such a underrated movie tbh, it really does capture the love of film, seeing a movie in a theater, and the campy homage to Sci-fiction B-movies. Also a interesting message about facing fear, it rather holds up pretty decently. Gotta love a good Jerry Goldsmith score. John Goodman is really great in this main role, even though the movie mostly focuses on the kid characters. Which isn't a bad thing, I guess I didn't care about the lovey dovey stuff, but the those plots do connect all at the end with a pretty big climatic ending. I really liked this, I highly recommend checking this out. I honestly think this would be a nice experience to see in a actual theater.

Something so random with using two songs from Hello Dolly, but the songs have significant affect on each scene and they are used very cleverly. Also WALL•E's and EVE's chemistry is so cute and well written. Even for robots, you can still find a loving relationship with so much character and emotion.

I got to see this in theaters when it came out, but sadly I falling asleep and got upset I didn't get to watch the rest. I was able to get the DVD afterwards and fell in love with it instantly (despite that 8 year old me got crushed emotionally with WALL•E getting damaged and almost killed off). This film has a very good balance with being funny but also pretty deep when it needs to be. The environmental message isn't pushed down my throat. It works really well. The point yes, the Earth should be taken care of but we also shouldn't lose sight on feeling, building community, and love. The environmental message really does hit harder even how relevant it is in today's current events.

I just really love this movie, I have too much nostalgia attached to it. But aside from that, it's still a beautiful film.

This was a very nice tribute, more so a love letter. Which got me a bit teary eyed in some parts. The 2D animated parts added a very unique style to the documentary format and I loved those sequences anyways. I wish the documentary did expand on some things more. The film's impact on the Black community (the documentary kind of mentioned all of that but not as much). Also I didn't agree with how the documentary "sanitized" some elements personally. But I still really enjoyed it and see the heart that was put into this.

I already adored A Goofy Movie and appreciated how much this documentary was fan made for the fans and others who connected with the film's themes. Especially the general idea of how much some media can impact an individual. Specifically Disney movies. One Disney movie that me or anyone who grew up with really inspired or connected on. This documentary explores that very lovingly for A Goofy Movie, that's pretty much the documentary's strong hold. I also learned a few new things too, I honestly liked it for what it was!

Happy 30th Anniversary you goofy movie you!

Still slaps even now as an adult. I grew up with this on VHS and re-airings on TV so I have some nostalgia towards it! It's just a really solid movie with nice animation and a banger of a soundtrack. While I do enjoy majority of the songs, "Nobody Else But You" might be my personal favorite song right next to "121." "After Today" is just a great opening number too.

Jeff Blim makes a great narrator! I guess I was surprised that this was coming out because I didn't even know there was going to be a new StarKid musical, and man was I blessed with a good one. I really enjoyed this! The puppetry, the set, the costumes, the actors, the filming were really charming and a lot of fun (despite how dark this got). StarKid productions really improved and expand there proshots so well, they came a long way!

This pulled my heart strings so unexpectedly. I wish Kai's Trans storyline wasn't cut out entirely. But at the very least Kai's episode was kept in, and I still kind of see the Trans part in Kai somewhat. Also I was able to relate with some of the character's storyline. The animation in general is really great, I love how it visually told the perspective of each character so surreal and unique. I really enjoyed this!

That motorcycle and car chase sequence didn't need to go as hard, but it certainly did (all that property damage geez). One of the few cases where scenes like that need to be animated, this film got that assignment.

I did another of these songs rankings but this time it's Disney songs (specifically from the Walt Disney Animation Studios line up)....this was the longest one yet and quite possibly my last one for awhile. I will still continue doing this but I'm gonna take a bit of a break with it. These song rankings are very simulating to do. I know I probably didn't include every Disney song from this list, but I already rank so much, I don't really care. I'm satisfied with the ranking at the moment. Hope you guys enjoy it!

I saw this at a IMAX screening, and also this was my first time watching it. I really enjoyed it! I will it that the pacing dragged in the third act for me, this movie was certainly long. My theater seats were not that comfortable either. Overall still a good time. I really ired the way this film wrote about the message of humanity. The animation was just as gorgeous to view on the big screen and the score...was really good, especially hearing it in surround sound. I think I'm obsessed with that score.

The film being released for IMAX had an interesting timing considering the trend of people using the Studio Ghibli art style on OpenAI for filters. This whole thing traces back to the movie, especially how the film's message is about respecting and protecting the environment....and people who are using OpenAI are not just stealing art styles, but also affecting the environment while using that system. I thought seeing this was actually a good way for me to appreciate the Studio's legacy and how much these films impacted me and others. Using those filters on OpenAI is not a way to show any respect for Studio Ghibli, it's the complete opposite. This is definitely a film for me to rewatch again and hopefully I can continue watching more of the Studio's filmography of the ones I have not seen.

This might be a hot take, but I think "So Close" is probably one of my personal favorite romance songs done by Disney or just Alan Menken in general. I personally don't care for Giselle and Robert's dynamic. But man, that ballroom dance scene and that song almost made me want to. Also "How Does She Know?" is still one of the best musical sequences I've seen done in a Musical film.

I grew up with this, it's still a charming movie. I thought I would get annoyed at the kids, kind of at first but the movie does a good job trying to redeem that, since these kids just act out to get attention from their father. But it's also the kids learning lessons, particularly realizing why their father is working so hard. I appreciate at the end both the Dad and the kids acknowledge their feelings, and they all try to work together at the end. Despite this film having wacky moments, it also has a good balance of quiet scenes too. This movie does have some similar beats to Mary Poppins (basically a broken family or the parent gets repaired by the help of a nanny).

The ending with the snow and the wedding is so visually nice to look at with the grand score, I love the repeating shot of the snow glaring from the reflections of the windows around the house. It's a nice movie, leagues better than the sequel I try to forget about everytime (I don't being fond of it)

If I had a nickel for everytime Jonathan Bailey rode a horse-

It's definitely isn't perfect, the lighting can be one of the issues but man this film still thrives hard! Out of all the songs from the soundtrack I listen to the most, was "One Short Day." Already was one of my favorite songs from the orginal stage musical but I think I enjoyed this version more, the quote "He can read it...he must...a wizard" is now something that lives in my head rent free. If I had to pick a favorite from the musical sequences, it's "Popular," the choreography in that is so fun. I kinda hate that this movie made me a Grande stan...not really but it somewhat worked.

John Powell did an excellent job composing the score for the film, especially when adapting the songs from the stage show. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are still amazing in this, as well as Jonathan Bailey. Who really knows how to pretend to play a straight man, in the most fruity way possible. I can't believe it took long for me to realize that was Anthony from Brighterton, my stupid ass watched that entire show and not recognized one of the main actors. I still found him charming here.

I wasn't as attached to the orginal stage show (which I still really enjoyed, just some things were underwhelming) but the movie did fix those elements I had problems with. But I also prefer what was done in the stage show just as equally. I'm nervous but hopeful with part 2, especially how well this film turned out. I don't think I have anything to worry about.

I haven't seen this since I was 11, apparently I grew up watching actor Saoirse Ronan before I even seen Lady Bird at age 17.

I rewatched this specifically because I had to do a essay on a actor for my Drama course, I chose Saoirse Ronan. Personally she's one of my favorite actors and I also wanted to check out one movie I haven't seen she's credited in (I chose Ammonite) and one movie I have seen before but it's been years. I was surprised how much I really liked this. The fight scenes are so well choreographed and really well shot, and the choice of music for those scenes are really spot on. When I kept hearing that whistle tune, the memories from this film all came back to me. One of my favorite details in this is because Hanna never heard music at all, when she does first hear it, it's all kinds of music from different cultures. I also enjoy a good cat and mouse trope in a movie.

The cast was stacked but really good, especially Saoirse Ronan and Cate Blanchett, specifically Ronan was great and I'm surprised she hasn't done any other action films because she was pretty good at this one. I find this film pretty underrated, I highly recommend checking this out!

I had this on in the background, I ended up not paying attention around the third act, it felt like too much was thrown into the story...which unfortunately explains this was originally going to be a TV show but ended up being made into a movie last minute in mid way of production. I was a bit unsure about seeing this and was just frustrated with hearing about the production of this film that I didn't want to give it a chance.

Now that I did, I think it's fine. But I didn't care for it as much. Some elements I kinda liked, Moana and her little sister's dynamic was cute, seeing her island develop and create a nice community of voyagers is sweet. Seeing Moana grow as a wayfinder is satisfying. Unfortunately it's still a bland mess of a film, the new characters aren't as developed or somewhat have a purpose. The songs are okay at best, not the worst that I heard. "Get Lost" is probably the one song that I find generally catchy and good, it's a bop. Sadly it's not as good as the first film but I mean it could've been worse.

I wasn't expecting to see Kate Winslet pissing on rocks but here we are.

I was surprised to see the Letterboxd reviews be so low, I can agree with the gripes people are talking about but I personally enjoyed this. Yes it's a slow burn, 2 hours long and nothing really happens. But I feel like a movie that needs to have moments where characters say nothing and stay quiet can actually say so much in a scene. I also generally am a sucker for a slice of life (sometimes even a slow burn one). I mean I do wish those scenes can do more without wasting a scene sometimes.

Also the other thing, I didn't find Saoirse Ronan's and Kate Winslet's chemistry that bad, for the most part I was digging their relationship, maybe I would like to see more scenes where it isn't Kate Winslet staring off all nervous when around Saoirse Ronan, have more dialogue perhaps (then again I would act like that too if Saoirse Ronan was flirting with me).
