In a few ways, Tremors was kind of ahead of its time. It got in on giant creature features when few were doing them and more than anything, it is a fun film. This could have been made 10 years later and it still would have been excellent. Of course, there is no way to replace the cast. Tremors set a standard for its subgenre that films today still try to live up to.
It is great to see a surge in independent filmmakers who are willing to take a stab at pursuing a project even on a small budget -- like Stupid Games, directed by Nicolas Wendl and Dani Abraham.
I have seen it mentioned a few times on Letterboxd that this film was made in 7 days on a budget of $10,000. And the production quality is pretty good for that small of budget.
