“There’s always free cheese in a mousetrap.”
This movie is cool as fuck.
]]>Sinners fucking ruled. That’s all I have to say right now. I’m sure more will pop into my head after the initial shock wears off. But yeah, the hype is real.
]]>I didn’t see Tombstone until I was in my mid 20’s. And when I did experience it for the first time, it was an absolute blast. Ahead of time, I basically only knew that Kurt Russell had an amazing mustache, and Val Kilmer steals the show. And boy, Kilmer truly is outstanding in this. It will always be his crowning achievement. He will be missed. He was an incredible talent, who at 65 years old, is gone way too soon.
“I’m your Huckleberry.”
]]>I forgot how god damn funny this is. It perfectly sums up the awkwardness of high school, and trying to fit in. And it might have the greatest opening credit sequence I’ve ever seen
]]>Basically it’s Robocop for kids. And I dug it. There were some times I laughed pretty hard in the theater.
]]>I never would have thought that the genius lunatic behind the Mad Max franchise would be responsible for such a sweet animated movie about penguins
]]>One of those films that is truly mind-boggling. It’s unreal that this was made in 1968. This has, and always will, stand the test of time. Perfection
]]>A Real Pain is wonderful. I’ve felt a bunch of emotions during its runtime. Kieran Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg are a match made in heaven. They gel so perfectly. It’s a very touching film. I hope they take home Oscars in their respective categories tonight.
]]>Obviously, if I watch The Terminator one night, I’m watching T2 the next. As perfect I think the original film is, Judgment Day will, to me, always be one of the greatest filmmaking feats of all time. This film will be talked about forever.
]]>I think the new 4K disc for this masterpiece looks absolutely fantastic. A perfect film
]]>Still patiently waiting for a sequel to be greenlit. Karl Urban is so fucking baller in this. He’s perfect as Judge Dredd
]]>The fact that this movie isn’t as popular as it should be, makes me feel like I’ve been raped…..IN THE FACE!
But seriously, this is one of the funniest movies ever made.
]]>This movie fucking rocks hard. I love it so much, even if the bus jump is physically impossible.
]]>I expected more from this movie. But I will say that Coogan is a really cool character. I really dug Eastwood’s performance.
]]>When Samuel L Jackson is telling Robert Forster in the car what’ll happen if there is funny business, is absolutely chilling. Ordell Robbie is an incredible character. This is Tarantino’s most mature work to date as a director. It’s probably my favorite of all his films.
]]>This has always haunted me
]]>“Gump, have you found Jesus yet?”
“I didn’t know I was supposed to be looking for him sir.”
]]>Rest in peace Mr Lynch. You were a special person, who had a truly creative mind.
]]>Welp, my kids and myself haven’t seen any of the other Despicable Me films, but my kiddos decided they wanted to watch number 4 in the franchise. And I had quite a bit of fun watching this.
]]>Thank you Fun City Editions for releasing awesome gems that I have never heard of! Walking the Edge, Rancho Deluxe, Natural Enemies, Born to Win, and now Heartbreakers! Heartbreakers was a blast. It’s a smart film. Mancuso and Coyote are incredibly believable as best friends, it wouldn’t surprise me if they are still tight to this day.
]]>God damn, that was dark. But I will say that the 3 lead performances are fantastic.
]]>Sure, it’s a lot of garbage, but this is still pretty fun. This is Arnold’s only real attempt at a real family film, and for the most part, he is serviceable. There are some truly funny parts, and the premise of the film is pretty solid.
]]>I change my tune every time I watch this. It’s the best Batman movie.
]]>The self-defense boxing scene is quite possibly the funniest movie scene ever filmed,
]]>Add this to the list of movies I can never watch again. It’s not that it’s bad, because it’s definitely not that. It’s a brilliantly made period piece. But god damn, it’s insanely long, and I was so depressed by the end of it. It took me two nights in a row to finish it. Lily Gladstone and Leo have fantastic chemistry. The entire cast dynamite. I hope Martin Scorsese keeps making films as he gets older, but the 3 and a half hour runtimes are tough man.
]]>“I’m not afraid of death. But I am afraid of murder.”
This was my second viewing of this, and this time, it was a masterpiece. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mindset the first time. But I get it now. It’s truly remarkable how good Coppola was in the 70’s.
]]>This has always been brilliant to me. And the fact that I’m watching it on The Criterion Channel right now is truly amazing
]]>Doesn’t have the magic of the first film. But I do like the addition of new characters that go on the journey
]]>Well that fucking rocked!
This is my first Takashi Miike movie, and it’s gonna be hard to beat. The carnage in this film is amazing. It ranks up there with the battle scenes from Braveheart. The set pieces here are incredible. This film is special. I don’t really have much else to say, other than I can’t wait to watch this again.
]]>I’ve come to be such a fan of this with each subsequent viewing. I am the first to it that there are a lot of issues with the movie, in particular with some of its editing and direction. But even with those flaws, the movie fucking rocks. Nothing against Paul Michael Glaser who directed this, but in the hands of a more accomplished action director, this could’ve been an absolute masterpiece of 80’s action. This is Arnold at his most charismatic. And Richard Dawson is perfect at the slimy dickhead Killian.
]]>This is Bill Murray at his most manic, and I was all for it
]]>God damn, this movie is cute.
]]>Man, I forgot how much fun True Lies is! This is an absolute blast from start to finish. And very funny too
]]>Harry, Barry, Larry, Garry, and Nathan Jr.
Seriously, the Arizona quints’ names are fucking hilarious
]]>Well I finally watched this for the first time in my life at 35 years old, and I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than I expected. My kids heard some of the songs and wanted to watch the movie. I like Tim Burton, but I’ve never been a giant fan of stop motion animation. But the work in this was truly amazing. It’s so fluid and unique.
]]>One of the greatest premises for a horror film ever. Absolutely brilliant. No jump scares, just terrifying atmosphere and dread throughout the runtime. Rosemary’s Baby is truly scary.
]]>One of the most perfect films of its kind
]]>Hands down the greatest behind the scenes documentary ever made. I knew the making of Apocalypse Now was a shit-show, but I didn’t realize how bad it was. Poor FFC was about to lose his damn mind.
]]>Watched this with my 4 year old, TMNT obsessed son this evening. And he had a blast. This movie brings me so much joy due to nostalgia. It’s a fun, campy, and sometimes super dark piece of entertainment that is so much damn fun to watch. It was a VHS tape that I wore out multiple times as a child. And now I got to share it with my kiddo.
]]>I feel like Jeff Nichols is yet to make a bad film. The Bikeriders is a an excellent flick that is just all around great. The performances are spot on, especially from Comer and Hardy. Butler is very good too. It looks fantastic, it has a great soundtrack, and it feels a bit like a documentary. I liked it alot.
]]>I’m absolutely obsessed with George Miller and his world-building when it comes to the Mad Max saga. When I first heard that this was green-lit, I felt that it was nothing but a money grab opportunity about 10 years too late. But boy, this is an excellent addition. Anya Taylor-Joy is amazing, and Chris Hemsworth is….dare I say…. demented. This script actually has some meat on its bones compared to Fury Road. It’s not quite as enjoyable as its predecessor, but damn, it’s still a fantastic piece of action cinema.
]]>“KEITH!”
I went in with very low expectations on this one, but I actually ended up enjoying it quite more than I thought I would. It was pretty cute
]]>Review #1000!
It’s terrifying to me that in this day and age, this movie becomes more and more relevant. I’ve stated this before, but I work for an aircraft company with a heavy union presence, and this film really hits a little too close to home. It scares me. But this film may be one of the best of the 70’s. The three leads are incredible, especially Pryor. This is cinema at its best.
]]>I probably haven’t seen this since the early 2000s. I’m watching it with my Batman obsessed 4 year old son, and it’s a lot of fun, even though it’s some of the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen. Definitely fits the so-bad-it’s-good criteria. It’s certainly a fun bit of nostalgia for me. But I will say, I am a big fan of George Clooney as Bruce Wayne in particular. He is one of my all time favorite actors.
]]>Watching this for the bazillionth time with my daughter. It’s so rad.
]]>It’s big, loud, and dumb, but still pretty fun after all these years. I watched it on cable for the first time probably since it was in theaters. I seeing it at a drive in theater during its original run. The cast of this movie is insane.
]]>“I take back everything I said. The Honda Odyssey fucks hard.”
I haven’t laughed so hard watching a movie in a very long time. I was nearly crying during the opening credits
The movie was amazing until one stupid part took me out of it a bit in the last 5 minutes. Up until that point, this was a 5 star film for me. It had a chance to be one of the best neo-noir crime thrillers in recent memory. It felt grounded and real, with incredible performances from everyone involved, especially Katy O’Brien and Kristen Stewart. It was also super grimy. I feel sweaty after watching it. You can feel the New Mexico heat.
]]>A solid little doc about Sly. I’ve always appreciated his work. But what was nice about this was that it really lets him speak about his art. And he is so ionate. Much respect to the man.
]]>Talk about a film that scared me. Originally, I didn’t know what to think about the idea of this film coming out when the original trailer dropped. I knew the controversy would be intense due to the current political climate. And I didn’t know how they would make this movie work. Once things are explained, it made sense. And this film is brilliant. It’s terrifying. And it feels possible. That’s what makes me scared. Stephen McKinley needs a ing actor Oscar for his work. And maybe even Cailee Spaeny as well. So well acted from everyone, and beautifully shot, Civil War is a great film. And I’m not gonna talk about “that scene”. But I will say it’s tension at its best.
]]>I started collecting Criterion Collection discs when I was around 18 years old. I would blind-buy random titles based solely on their synopsis. Now at 36 years old, I look back at the ones that made most of an impression on me through my cinematic journey. Listed in alphabetical order
