I don’t know if Sailesh Kolanu does things intentionally or subconsciously but my reading of his movies are that they are deeply regressive. He is not like Vanga whose politics is controversial but technicalities are strong. Sailesh always tries to come along as someone smarter than everyone in the room. His writing goes into a kind of narcissism that I can’t explain, it is so indulgent.
Glorification of police violence, making fun of human rights, activists, vaccines.. I can read a lot in the movie. If all this is done unintentionally, Sailesh will become one of the greatest regressive, propaganda director Tollywood has ever produced when he eventually starts doing things intentionally.
The word “freedom” in itself is villainified. Like bro.. come on.
Nani is great. All stars for him as actor but none for acting like he is new age progressive produce and yet not scratching beyond the surface of the scripts before green lighting.
]]>A sports comedy drama that avoids most of the cliches of an average sports drama. It is fun. The music is a little too loud, the rap portions are present all through the film and it feels like it is overdone. Naslen is fantastic. Khalid Rahman somehow managed to sneak in a few novel ideas to shoot already done to death boxing sequences in movies.

]]>It is a sincere and honest attempt. There is a lot to like about it. Especially the court drama scenes are well written and never go over the top.
While the movie makes it self clear in its stand against misuse of POCSO, it shouldn’t have glorified love among minors. That my main issue with this film.
The fundamental understanding of the POCSO act in itself felt wrong. It is not designed to punish a 40 year old man raping 6 year old girl. It is designed to protect minors from exploitation by adults with wrong intent. People below 18 years of age are generally easily manipulated and it is hard to know the right and wrong and decide something for themselves. That is why POCSO exists.. not to punish anyone but to protect someone. P in POCSO stand for “Prevention”.
Protagonist argues what extra knowledge comes on the day of 18th birthday that wasn’t there on 17y 364th day but that is not even the point. A line has to be drawn somewhere and 18 is generally considered a good age for maturity. The same question can be asked for Voter IDs and Driving licenses as well. How can someone acquire skills to drive on 1st day of 21st birthday ? Doesn’t make sense right ?
And the climax is a letdown.
It is a brave and sensitive topic and the movie largely is in the right direction and is made with sincerity. The deeper themes of class and caste injustices are also touched upon.
I still don’t know where Telugu twitter came from to Mangapathi in this 💀😭

]]>Mohanlal’s screen presence 🥵
]]>I’ve watched this about 10 months back and somehow it never left my mind since. I keep ing it, wanting to see it again. I keep hearing the haunting score. I’ve never had after taste this strong for any other movie.
The last hour of this movie carries a sadness that cannot be put to words. It is a sadness that won’t cause you tears but breaks your heart and one that is impossible to take off your mind. Bong Joon Ho here operates on a level only handful of directors in the history of cinema reached. Impeccable. Masterpiece. One of the greatest movies of all time and my personal favourite of Bong Joon Ho topping Parasite.
]]>This is the most conflicted I’ve ever been after watching a Bong Joon Ho film. It is so morally complex and dense it is tough to point out one thing that the movie is trying to convey. The themes are so layered that it is a little overwhelming and deeply disturbing as well. It will linger in your mind for a while after watching.

]]>A very basic college film till the last 15 minutes where it starts to round up all arcs and tie all ends beautifully. Still not buying into PR’s hype though the hoots and cheers are unreal in my single screen theatre. He sure built something among Telugu audience.
]]>ARR Cooked.

]]>I don’t know what’s with the talk but I had a great time. The comedy is clean and great. Far better writing and direction by Dhanush from Raayan. GV Prakash gave fantastic music. The songs’ visualisation will give a run for Shankar’s. It does villanise moving on a little bit but politics aside, I had a fun time.
]]>ARR cooked as if it were a Maniratnam film. The songs and BGM are outstanding. The sound is futuristic and fit perfectly for the film.
The film itself is underwhelming. It gets forcefully progressive and preachy at parts. Like, no normal human beings talk that way. The chemistry between Nithya Menon and Jayam Ravi works well towards the second half but the film’s desperate attempts to be cool and vibey are too distracting.
]]>Went cause PVR marked it as Screen X in the app but it was played normally 🚶♂️
]]>Saying that watching Interstellar in IMAX is life-altering wouldn’t be an overstatement. I was completely lost in the film, just trying to soak in the beauty of what was on the screen. I laughed, cried, and was amazed—the most fulfilling theatrical experience ever.
]]>Malayalam cinema continues to deliver. Ponman is a very refreshing take on dowry, work ethic and life with impeccable Basil Joseph. He delivered 2 movies in the first month of 2025 😭.
Fantastic writing. The escalation from a fun movie to a serious, emotional one is very tricky but it is written to perfection here.

]]>Damn.. Probably the weakest Maniratnam work ever. I din’t even understand what the movie is trying to be. Everything felt rushed and forced. Even technically it is just bland for most parts. I don’t know what in this inspired Rahman to give such a soulful soundtrack. Would love to catch it in theatres just for it. Otherwise, this is a very forgettable film.
