"As a Hollywood actress begins to adopt the persona of her character in a film, her world becomes nightmarish and surreal."

nightmarish and surreal

Got that right. 100% in need of a rewatch down the line, such a freaky, weird, and mindboggling film. I did vibe with that though, even if I didn't get a lot of it. The way it was filmed already makes it feel so much like a dream, at times it maybe pulled me in so much that I thought I myself was dreaming, also was a bit tired so that added to it I bet lol. Wasn't going to rate this at all but my nature of needing to rate everything kicked in + the ending helped a bit with understanding the journey so I could more accurately rate, but I could see it being much higher with more thought and another viewing.

(watched last night)

and with this concludes my watching of all David Lynch's films (excluding the Twin Peaks movie I'll get to the show eventually and watch that). Been a ride to say the least, such unique and creative movies all around, he has such a distinct style and mind for art, undeniably made an impact on cinema and I'm happy to have dove into the worlds he crafted, and will be happy to revisit them all when I inevitably do so

And here's my list if you are interested in my ranking

Captain America 694p6 Brave New World, 2025 - ★★★ (contains spoilers) https://letterboxd.sitesdebloques.org/simpleknight/film/captain-america-brave-new-world/ letterboxd-review-903873729 Sun, 1 Jun 2025 11:38:59 +1200 2025-05-29 No Captain America: Brave New World 2025 3.0 822119 <![CDATA[

This review may contain spoilers.

Captain America: Brave New World is a movie, let’s get that settled first, this is in fact, a movie. A motion picture if you will, a feature length motion picture. It is a movie (also can be referred to as a film) released in the US on February 14th, 2025, it brought in a total box office gross of $415.1 million on a $180 million budget, which I believe would be considered a flop, a bit of a failure, at least not nearly the amount needed for a bonified success. (Side note: take what I say lightly as I am no expert, do research for the best information). Ok so, basically a failure monetarily speaking from what I gather, which, I must say, is quite the shame, as this is one of the best MCU movies in recent times, and I’d go so far as to say it’s of the highest quality in of overall MCU as well. For background, I was not too interested in this feature, I did not much care for what I was seeing from the marketing, looked rather sloppy and dull, and the prospect of Red Hulk being a major focus of a Captain America movie didn’t sit too well with me, “A Captain America movie being a glorified sequel to The Incredible Hulk (2008)?? fuhgeddaboudit!” I thought. Well, I was right that it is pretty much a mix of a The Incredible Hulk (2008) sequel, and a continuation of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) to make it, a Captain America movie. Little known fact, Marvel (or MCU) can not produce an actual Hulk movie, as the rights are tied to Universal Studios as of current, so I would assume this movie was made as a Hulk movie, disguised as a Captain America movie, all Hulk villains with no Hulk, an interesting prospect to say the least. So, didn’t see in theaters, obviously (I don’t typically anyways let alone for Hulktain Hulkmerica: Brave New Hulk (2025)), but I did just see it last night on Disney Plus, and with all this out of the way we can begin with the festivities and discuss the MCU feature film.

Captain America: Brave New World took it’s time building itself, and building my interest, releasing it’s full energy and letting me really (red) hulk out in an explosive third act. To begin with the plot, the film follows the new Captain America, Sam Wilson, I assume not too long after the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), but long enough for him to be used to the shield and his new found position, at least on the scale he is at now, he will face tougher and hulkier odds as the film progresses. So the opening to the movie establishes him, doing what appears to be a mission inspired by the opening to Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), which was interesting to see. We get a good look at his fighting skills and abilities, and his partner in this movie, previously seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), Joaquin Torres aka the new Falcon, and he’s a goofy dude, the comic relief of the movie you could say, don’t dislike him but don’t necessarily care about him. We also see one of the many villains present here, Sidewinder of the Serpent Society, played by the Los Pollos Hermanos owner himself, Gustavo Fring. Or Giancarlo Esposito I suppose, but he is just playing another serious talking villain role akin to Gus Fring and Moff Gideon of Mandalorian fame. He does his job well though and it’s always fun to see him, so no complaining.

Anyways, the actual opening scene of the movie introduces us to the secondary character, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who just so happens to be my personal favorite character of the movie, for reasons later on. He’s introduced here as the new President of the United States, and he’s trying to unite people during the aftermath of the snap, which is starting to get a bit old with how much they’ve yapped about that in the MCU but the main focus isn’t on that which is good, the main focus is a celestial in the Indian ocean, formed there in Eternals (2021), so it’s nice to see some acknowledgment of that movie after all these years lol. So there’s going to be some kind of treaty (they mention it 500 times) between all the nations of the world for ownership of the material Adamantium that the celestial is made of or whatever, so there’s Wolverine set up too. The mission Sam was on was to get back some package related to this treaty that was stolen by the Serpent Society for an unknown buyer, but that buyer didn’t show, suggesting they have some hidden motive for all this, interesting stuff indeed. Another detail about Ross before we move on, a very important detail I might add, is that he’s not exactly on speaking with his daughter Betty, as he has some anger issues and on of him hunting Bruce Banner aka The Hulk aka Betty’s boyfriend, so there’s that part. PLUS, he managed to fix some of his reputation by apprehending the man responsible for creating the abomination, and if you’ve seen The Incredible Hulk (2008) then you know exactly who that is.

NEXT, Sam and Falcon guy meet up with Isaiah Bradley for some training, they get at it, make a few jokes as is necessary, but Sam gets a call, specifically a call from the President, which doesn’t sit too well with Isaiah. He doesn’t like him working for the government and people like Ross, but Sam ensures him it’s for the best to inspire people, ok ok. They also get invited to the White House, convenient. So our trio whisk away to their destination and when they get there, Sam is called into the President’s office, a little one to one. Him and Ross talk for a bit and out of nowhere Ross asks Sam to reform the Avengers, what?! Crazy! Sam is not at all up to the task, he’s barely taken up the role of Cap + they’d have to work under Ross who previously helped in the creation of the Sokovia Accords that tore the Avengers apart. Not looking too good. Next, they’re at the meeting and Ross is discussing how to go ing the adamantium when suddenly some music starts playing and Isaiah Bradley stands up from his seat and attempts to assassinate Ross. A whole battle breaks out, Ross survived somehow and is escorted away, and Isaiah runs, with Sam not far behind. He eventually catches him but Isaiah seems to have zero recollection of anything that had just previously gone down, he gets apprehended though obviously and our mystery begins. This opening 25 minutes sets all the conflicts and plot points up pretty well, now can it execute them all properly you might be asking? Well let’s find out shall we.

So the aftermath of the attack happens with a conversation between Sam and Ross, Sam wants to investigate into this and prove Isaiah didn’t do this on his own accord, but Ross doesn’t agree and tells him he’s done. He also delivers an important line; “You’re not Steve Rogers”, which is another moment of showing how Sam is trying to be the new Cap but everything at every turn is telling him he may not be ready/can’t live up to Steve. But Sam being Sam pursues this anyways, makes sense that he’d want to, and that he wouldn’t just give up. Before the next scene starts though, we get the second time Ross is taking some pill, maybe important who knows. Sam chats with Isaiah who pretty much tells him everything we already knew while also telling him, just like Ross did, to not do anything about this, for different reasons obviously but still. Oh and this movie also has one of the most annoying and boring characters I’ve ever had the displeasure of seeing/hearing on a screen, Ross’ security advisor (whatever title she has), she sadly gets far too much screen time too, so lame. So NEXT, Sam talks with Falcon guy and they learn of flashing lights on the attackers (including Isaiah's) phones that more likely than not were the cause for them being controlled when that music played, Sam also references Bucky when discussing this, so that was cool, would be cool if Bucky actually made an appearance.

Now, here’s a problem I have with this movie, a big one; We get this quick scene of Ross calling some guy to ask if “the prisoner” is secure in his cell, now, it’s obvious right off the bat that this is the guy from The Incredible Hulk (2008) that was established earlier, Samuel Sterns aka The Leader, in comics and all, and it was also very clear to me at the moment of this scene, that he was indeed the man behind this, sooooo, takes away the whole mystery to the movie, which is a huge part of the appeal, a bit lame for me personally. So on from there, we get an action scene wherein Sidewinder attacks Sam, revealing he’s made up with “The Buyer” and how “The Buyer” mentioned there was a 77% chance Sam would try to talk him down (if he survived the grenade), which is further proof it’s The Leader behind this, so sad how obvious it is. So they fight fight fight and Sam eventually wins. Cool action sequence I must say, all the action in this movie, bar some questionable cgi at points, is surprisingly good, keeps the movie engaging when the plot wasn’t pulling me in. Oh and Sam gets a call from “The Buyer” and they blatantly show his face so it’s not even me just figuring it out, the movie actively wants you to know who it is, so so so… lame.

It’s fully dawning on me how long this review is becoming and I’ve got a lot to say about the finale so I might brush through some of this next stuff quick, ok. Ross talks with some other world leaders, the treaty is falling apart, he needs to go talk with the Japan President to get things rolling again as he’s not responding or something, meanwhile Sam and Falcon guy find the location of “The Buyer” by tracking the call he made, they get suited up and head over there. The annoying character goes to talk to the attackers at the White House but when she gets there someone kills them. Ross is on a plane to Japan and yaps about the treaty for the 10th time in the past 5 minutes, and also to go find Sam and stop him from acting on his own. And he gets a call from the warden watching “the prisoner” and woahhhhhhhh it’s revealed he’s the one behind it all, it’s DA LEADER AKA SAMUEL STERNS, who could’ve guessed it??? But anyways, his plan is that he wants to expose Ross for locking him away yada yada villain plan. Sam and Falcon guy get to the base and find a lab of sorts with a bunch of files on people, with Ross among them. Then Sterns appears and drops something baffling, he claims there was an 89% chance Sam wouldn't pursue him if he “put Isaiah Bradley at risk” but like, why??? Why would he not try to prove his innocence???? So stupid. Then he goes over his tragic backstory about getting imprisoned and how he doesn’t want to kill Ross, all stuff we pretty much already knew but fine. He says the line “you know he’ll never change” referring to Ross about how he’s keeping Isaiah prisoner even though he knows he’s innocent, to protect his image, and this is setup for Ross’ arc of the movie, very important. So Sam and Falcon guy get out, we then get a scene with Ross and his team talking about Japan heading over to the celestial after some politics stuff messed up the deal they had, and we get a great moment with Ross losing his temper and smashing his fist in a table, cracking it. A powerful moment of Ross hulking out, witnessing this made me hulk out right along with him, a beautiful moment of 4th wall breaking and character building. Ross wants to go to the celestial too which seemingly could start ww3 which would not be good. Harrison Ford delivers the line, “I was a wartime general, now I’m a wartime President.” with such commitment to the role just want to take the time to say how great he was in this, some of the review may be a joke but this part isn’t, he was really good in the role, captured the rage (the hulking out) of this character brilliantly, props to him!

Sam and Falcon guy, along with annoying character now, go to the base that Sidewinder is being held at and get him to tell them about Sterns and his plan SOME MORE. He says that Sterns hired them to steal the adamantium to start this war that’s playing out, and he says someone with Ross’ temperament won’t handle it well, one might say he could... hulk out? perchance. They also have some guy analyze the pills they found at that prison, so there’s that little detail. MOVING ON. Sam learns of the war and heads over to the area of the… war. So when they arrive Sam and Ross are able to have an impactful chat where a lot is revealed and said. Ross reveals the reason his files and DNA was in that lab was because he was dying and got Sterns to make a cure (the pills), but he had to keep him around so he didn’t lose the pills, and it wasn’t fully selfish either as he wanted to show his daughter Betty that he was more than what she thought of him, but this shows that we often tend to repeat mistakes in the pursuit of change, showcased through what he becomes by the final act + his current choice to go to war. Sam managed to convince him otherwise though, but it’s too late as Sterns mind controlled two US pilots to attack the Japanese fleet, inciting an all out battle, and it’s up to Sam and Falcon guy to stop it. And so begins a long and well structured action sequence, the 2nd best in the movie. The stakes are of course high, it’s overall a blast to watch unfold, the falcon flying will never not be cool and with the shield for Sam, is even better. Things aren’t going well on Ross’ side though as the Japanese Prime Minister (think I said president earlier lol) won’t believe that the pilots are being controlled by external forces, mainly as Ross can’t reveal that for his coverup to not be exposed, tough situation huh. So he gets a little flustered, a bit heated, stressed, put on edge, losing his cool, you could also say, above all, that he is................................... HULKING............................... OUT. PERCHANCE. Now I shall quote Sterns here as it really says everything about Ross’ character flaws.

“Ah, now we’re getting somewhere. That fire in the belly. The rage. Why don’t you just let it out? All that hatred you try to hide, all the ugliness, it’s still there, Ross, smoldering behind the eyes.”

See. perhaps a baller quote. There was more after that but that’s the baseline for it all. He’s trying to move forward but failing miserably, tragic. I think he’s gonna hulk out, if he can’t hold it back anymore. So as that’s happening, in a moment reminiscent of Rhodey falling in Captain America: Civil War (2016), new Falcon guy falls from the sky and is critically hurt. Literally an identical shot is there lol. Cuts back to Sterns thinking he’s a Sith yapping about “unleash your anger, unleash your hatred.”, thought that was funny, and of course Sam stops the attack, calming Ross down, leaving Sterns to hulk out instead, in defeat. And that’s the end of that sequence. We then get a pretty cool scene of Sam recounting what has happened so far and how he still doesn’t think he’s ready, consoled by the man himself, BUCKY. Was surprised when he showed up, and he fit well into the scene, only feeling a bit like a thrown in cameo but what are you gonna do. Sam questions if he should’ve taken the serum to be more like Steve, that he could be better with it, but Bucky insists that that would not help, as Steve had it and still couldn’t protect everyone. He says “Steve gave them something to believe in, but you give them something to aspire to be.” which yeah, someone with no powers, still doing the job and being a hero, that’s something normal people can reach moreso than being granted super powers. Ok ok, now. This leads into the best bit of the movie, a certain character might be.............................................................................................................................................................… HULKING OUT soon, and a certain person typing this review might’ve been hulking out along with him from sheer hype.

So before we reach the best part, the guy that was supposed to analyze the pills called the guy that told him to analyze them, to say that they are loaded with gamma radiation, but before they could tell Sam, STERNS appeared and killed him, sad. He calls himself “the hero” too and slowly puts on shades, a bit goofy. Now Ross must give a speech addressing, ya know, the whole war that almost started, but before that he calls his daughter and they have a nice chat, he says he’s trying to change and stop hulking out, and that they should reconnect, to which she agrees, what could go wrong now? So he’s out there now, talking and all, but then Sam is approached by STERNS!!! WOAH!!!! They talk about how his plan failed or whatever and that he wanted do destroy Ross’ legacy, but Sam still doesn’t know how he was going to go about it, other than the pills but he can’t know about that now, oh no. Then Sterns says the masterful line, “Why aren’t you smiling?”, gotta be top 10 lines of all time, and it’s not 10. Sam tells him he’s wrong about Ross and he asks if he wants to bet on that, and Sam goes off to “stop this”.

But wait, Sterns projects his voice over the mics, revealing the truth at long last, it’s all out. Ross of course tries to explain but his team isn’t having it and starts hauling him away, much to his anger, and what will be much to their regret. So... we’ve reached it, we see the glint of red in his eyes, he’s doing it. He’s hulking out, what a moment this is, lives were changed I tell you, at least mine that’s for sure, for better or worse I don’t know, I’ve sure wasted a lot of time writing this drivel, but no matter, because here it is. HE’S HULKING OUT!! He’s screaming and growling, his body is changing shape, size, even color, it’s out of his control now, there is NO stopping the beast from releasing itself, the hulk out is upon us all, and we must WITNESS it. He’s the RED HULK AT LONG LAST. Glancing at a reflection to see the monster he truly is, is there no chance at redemption now? All that’s left is to hulk out until the end? And hulk out he does. It’s glorious, but here comes Captain America looking for a fight. And a fight he gets. There’s punching and shock waving and jumping and slashing and clashing they’re going all out. And the most beautiful thing about it all, is that this is not cgi, Harrison Ford was so unbelievably committed to this role, that he hulked out in real life and became the Red Hulk, No Oscars needed, he’s far beyond such meaningless prizes. Props to Anthony Mackie too, having to take all the hulking out at full force. Now Sam tries taking him to the cherry tree area (don’t know what it’s called) to attempt to calm him down from his hulk out, but he’s too hulked out at this point, all he wants is battle, and so Sam must battle. I’m not even going to describe how this fight plays out as it’s too transcendent of anything else in the artform to even attempt. But after this duel of titans, Sam is down one wing and fully charged in the one remaining, and decides to blow Red Hulk up with it, the only move he has left. And it does cause Red Hulk to go sailing, the fight potentially over? With Ross/Red Hulk weakened, Sam feels he can reach him now, he says now's the time to prove to the world that he can change, and to prove it to Betty most of all. And prove it he did, he let go of his rage, he stopped hulking out, and became Thaddeus Ross once more. As the saying goes; “When we reach our lowest point, we are open to the greatest change.” and that is exemplified in Ross, beautifully written journey and growth.

And in the aftermath and closing moments of the film, Isaiah is released, pretty cool there, and most importantly, Ross has been sent to the raft to be contained so he never hulks out again, until they cure him I assume, if it’s possible. But he is visited by Sam and his daughter Betty, and the two are able to finally reconnect, epic. And then the movie closes with Sam and new Falcon yapping about continuing to be heroes and Sam drops the bomb that he’s ready to form the new Avengers. Cool way to end this, dare I say, masterpiece. Also end credit scene is Sterns being a goofball again saying the multiverse is scary and there’s a big meanie coming that Sam isn’t ready for, might be someone played by Robert Downey Jr. perchance.

Now a closing statement I do believe is in order. Why did I write this review? Why did I make it so long? Well folks, why indeed, I don’t know, maybe I was destined to, or I just was compelled by the beauty on display with this movie, I just knew when I saw Red Hulk on my screen, that I had to do something, and do something I did. I set out to make a disgustingly long review for Captain America: Brave New World (2025) and I achieved my goal (also by far my longest review ever no doubt so that’s funny too). I doubt many are going to read all of this (I advise against it if I’m being honest), but to anyone who did read it all, thanks for taking the time to do so and I hope you can recover from the absolute brain rot I have displayed. Are these my actual thoughts on the movie you may be asking as well. Well I do think the movie is quite messy, feels very chopped together, the dialogue is very ham-fisted and expository, Sam doesn’t get as much attention in the narrative as he should and it begins to feel more like a Ross movie with Sam as a side character who happens to do most of the work plot wise, but not much character wise. It’s got problems, but I do actually like Ross here, and obviously all of my Red Hulk glaze was 100% genuine, love that guy, my favorite MCU character when it comes to just straight fun to watch/turn your brain off characters, and that finale was one next level turn your brain off and enjoy the ride moment, and I did enjoy every second. My rating here is meant to make it look like I actually loved the movie, I will change it to the official one in due time (edit: it's changed), but I guess I must sign off now, this movie had much more of an impact on me than I thought it would. I’ve lost my marbles...

This review is proof I hulked out

Around in the shade, out of shape, unafraid

And neither do I
You took my son
I hope you can run
'Cause I'm gonna be the last thing you see
Before you go, bye-bye
There you go, bye-bye

I make you go, bye-bye

They keep stealing glances, they don't like your chances
And neither do I

You run and hide

Definitely a great movie. Particularly liked the main character's story here much more than some of the side stuff, went into who he was and how he got where he is now, through flashbacks, dreams, and dialogue really well. Visually had some real great moments too, enjoyed my time with this.

most of the movie was straight forward but at the same time not, always something brewing under the surface until it all comes pouring out near the end, and it got more confusing but also not. Anomaly of a movie feels like, I don't fully understand every bit yes, but I got what it was going for, and after thinking on it and reading about everything it has gotten clearer and clearer, soooooo loved this fr

Can't say for sure if it's my favorite Lynch until a rewatch probably but it has everything I love about his movies, and in general I love psychological horror type movies it seems (Perfect Blue so peak) and this is one of the best I've seen.

Mixed bag, I like the family dynamic (should've got more development towards it but still good), but then the main plot with the red room and everything isn't all that interesting + Taskmaster is generationally ruined. The best thing to come out of the movie is the casting of Florence Pugh as Yelena of course, greatest casting in the MCU and I wanna hug whoever got it to happen. She's so good in the role and gives one of the best performances in this universe easily. Can not wait to see Thunderbolts*

Didn't love it as much on this 2nd watch but still really good. All the characters are enjoyable and feel like real people, in part because of the writing and mainly the great performances from everyone, especially Florence Pugh as Amy, liked her the most by far. I would say the characters were better than the actual way the overall journey was presented, but still not bad or anything, just didn't fully vibe with everything, liked the ending a lot though, fits well.

Bob Odenkirk cameo hit insane this watch as it's the first time I've watched it since watching Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. So peak

Pretty good movie I'd say but hesitant to say so, definitely worse than I expected. Looked cool visually, writing wise it could be better, not even quite sure how I feel about it, pretty basic story and characters, but works, I think?

But what I do want to say, is that what this movie is best at is being a grand showcase for the absolute beast of an actor that Florence Pugh is. Crazy how this movie I don't care too much for has one of my favorite performances now. Captures the grief, trauma, fear, confusion, every little and big expression/moment she handles perfectly. Wasn't really scared watching this movie (doesn't even work as a horror movie ftmp), but, her performance did get me a bit uneasy when she really went to the depths of fear the character was in, which is why this would be so much worse without her. That final scene/shot like... alls that needs to be said if you've seen it

So as a whole the movie didn't hit like it could've, but again, can't glaze her performance enough, brilliant stuff and she was robbed of an oscar nom, I'd go as far to say even a win, if I was the deciding vote (I know she got nominated for Little Women but a double nom would be the greatest thing ever, both these performances are truly great)

Was interested in what I'd think of Black Swan here and don't have a super strong opinion on it, really solid movie. Wouldn't say it's as similar to Perfect Blue as people say, closer to Whiplash (before that released too lol) imo. It's got a blatant copy like some shots that are pretty much one to one, and the main characters name being Nina... get it.... the protag of Perfect Blue..... Mima.. Nina... hmmm. Anyways, the mental decay of Nina is pretty interesting to watch, reaching the craziest in the final bit, that I thought was far and away the best moments of this film, good conclusion to everything set up. Natalie Portman obviously giving a beyond amazing performance, deserved the oscar all the way. Not a whole lot to say other than that, besides just breaking down the plot and all. It's good.

One last thing though, a major hindrance is that, I was not really unnerved or scared by this, at really any point, but still a well told story so all good, just could've been better if it was able to reach a fraction of the terror of something like.... Perfect Blue, not to compare tho ofc ofc :)

"That bundle... that's family."

Beautiful movie. Getting better already the more I think on it but I vibed with this so much, the simplicity and humanity of it I loved, Alvin Straight was a charming character with a great performance from Richard Farnsworth, liked how he connected with the people around him along his journey and grew because of it, and changed their lives too, can't help but root for him all the way. Reminded me of Iroh in the Tales of Ba Sing Se episode of Avatar quite a bit so of course I liked this. Anyways, Lynch can't make a bad movie (Dune doesn't count as always)

An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of Men comes crashing down. But it is not this day. This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!"

Many quotes that come to mind but this one hits so hard, as it is Aragorn, the King, as in the Return of the King. Indeed

So yeah, my new favorite film on this rewatch/first watch of the extended, love literally everything about it, a beyond perfect conclusion to this unreal trilogy, literally doesn't feel real that they exist how good they are. Movie had a deep effect on me here though, felt it in my soul, the last act is non stop beautiful and powerful moments, cried through it all. Got me moved to tears bruh, not many movies do that and on a level such as this... so peak. The literal peak of cinema I do believe (for me, at this moment in time). “I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a ing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must . A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.”

"What are we holding onto Sam?"

"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for."

Don't know if I'd say this is better than Fellowship or not but they are really close, perfect all around yet again and it's insane that these two... aren't even close to Return of the King.

There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring, in which case you were also meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought."

Spider 2f2t4m Man: No Way Home, 2021 - ★★★ https://letterboxd.sitesdebloques.org/simpleknight/film/spider-man-no-way-home/2/ letterboxd-review-870693861 Thu, 24 Apr 2025 12:16:24 +1200 2025-03-27 Yes Spider-Man: No Way Home 2021 3.0 634649 <![CDATA[

Pretty high 3 stars. Decent ol story for mcu Spider-Man, who I don’t care too much for. Don’t love the multiverse/old characters coming back stuff (does work for Peter’s arc I suppose but would’ve been better without the crutch of fan service imo, AND, it fails some of the characters severely), the humor and visuals are both lowkey terrible, 2nd half much better than the first but still don’t love it. Ending is cool though and I am fairly interested and hopeful for the next movie, need some back to basics Spider-Man + more of that suit

The Amazing Spider 336270 Man 2, 2014 - ★½ https://letterboxd.sitesdebloques.org/simpleknight/film/the-amazing-spider-man-2/ letterboxd-review-863422970 Wed, 16 Apr 2025 18:14:07 +1200 2025-03-26 Yes The Amazing Spider-Man 2 2014 1.5 102382 <![CDATA[

I could say a lot about this but like… it’s just bad. An insane mess of a plot, extremely poor characters, mainly the diabolically rushed introduction of Harry Osborn, and Electro is definitely something (at least he’s funny and has a cool theme). The main appeal seems to be the romance between Peter and Gwen but I don’t even like that tbh, but again, Andrew and Emma make it bearable.

Would be worse if it didn’t have “You’re a fraud Spider-Man!” the greatest line ever written by a writer and acted out by an actor. Golden

Really dull. Not bad but doesn’t do anything great, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone carry both of these movies. This one’s just weak, the 2nd movie is a train wreck…
