One thing you'll notice if you watch a lot of action movies especially older ones is whenever there's a gunfight it's often composed of a shot of a guy shooting and a shot of guy getting shot maybe with some bonus shot of something exploding. From behind the scenes material I learned that in the script during the final confrontation Lee Woo-jin was supposed to cry while Oh Dae-su begged him to spare Mi-do the truth and I can't imagine how different the movie would have felt if they hadn't changed their mind at the last second. Easily the most all around well directed Qin Pengfei movie which hopefully means he's improving but maybe he just has a knack for wuxia movies.
