I’m gutted. This is totally different from Free Solo or Touching the Void but also shares much. I don’t even know the guy and I feel like I’m now going to miss Marc Andre forever. 😭

I really liked this. Randolph Scott sort of plays an emotionless-but-honorable sociopath. The madness that happens amongst the yahoos he’s hunting and killing and James Coburn’s colorful portrayal make Scott’s deadpan performance seem to strike a perfect harmony, to me.
Holy shit! That’s how you make a Godzilla movie. I have to see that again to be sure I’m not overreacting, but that is as much fun as I’ve had in a movie theater in quite a while.
Edit: further thoughts: It’s actually a fairly terrifying horror movie with some genuine character arcs and some excellent acting. There are no teen TV stars shoehorned into this version of Godzilla. It’s amazing this was only made for 15 million dollars. It looks better than most Marvel movies that cost twenty times that amount.
