Was hoping to get more out of this than I actually did, but it should be said that even lower tier Anderson movies are still pretty enjoyable! Was actively trying back to hold massive amounts of laughter everytime Benedict Cumberbatch was in frame. Loved how bushy his eyebrows were!
]]>“Well, where is it?”
“What, the body?”
“The phone, what body?”
“There’s no body, nobody. There’s nobody in the study”
]]>If it weren’t for the multiple migraines this ended up giving me, I probably wouldn’t hesitate to rate this even higher.
]]>Not quite as funny as Tropic Thunder.
]]>They could never get away with making this movie today man…
…That’s cuz they already did way back in 2008!
]]>Watched this with my cousin who lives near Philly and it was pretty neat to see him point out all of the specific points of interest and methods of public transportation that were shown throughout the city. I probably would’ve never known what the hell a SEPTA bus is if not for him, but I’m glad I do now!
Movie itself is still amazing btw, who would’ve thought?
]]>Have no interest in ever (willingly) seeing the remake, but I was curious to see how well the original holds up and what do you know! It still rules!
Also, Ving Rhames :-)
]]>I’ve spent over the last 24 hours trying to comprehensively explain my thoughts on this, but what I’ll say for now is that while I do feel deep down there is a good or even great movie buried deep within. As it stands it not only ends up being an extremely underwhelming follow up to Dead Reckoning, but a mostly incoherent slog to get through to the point of feeling like a glorified best of compilation at best, and a college lecture in advanced nuclear physics through the amount of needless exposition at worse. While this does come across as me being overly negative, I want to stress that I’d never go so far to call this a bad movie. There’s clearly more than enough heart and ion behind it to not even amount to me writing it off as that and I do hold a level of respect for Cruise and McQ try to attempt something more downbeat and introspective, even if I found the execution sorely lacking and in most cases, extremely misguided. Perhaps there’ll come a day where I’ll learn to at the very least to appreciate this movie like I have for some of the other Mission movies, but for now I can only be left to wonder what this could’ve, and ultimately probably should’ve been. As much as it pains me to say it, this is probably my least favorite in the series to date.
]]>Nothing quite like seeing two 60 year old dudes having a knife fight on top of a runaway train with some of the most amazing shot composition, editing, and scoring known to man.

]]>Wish I could say that J.J. Abrams’ directing style is the one thing about this that aged the most poorly, but unfortunately this has an original song by Kanye that plays during the credits. :-(
]]>Ended up growing on me this time around, but I suppose that was bound to happen after listening to more Nu-Metal over the span of two years.
]]>Nobody except Brian De Palma could film Tom Cruise as a sweaty, bug-eyed homunculus and as far as the former’s contributions to cinema go, I feel as though that is a severly undervalued achievement.
]]>THE FUCKING MUSIC BRO, MY GOD!
So glad I finally got to experience this cuz it was absolutely worth the wait. Also, the “B.” in Michael B. Jordan stands for Backshots, you can’t tell me otherwise now!

]]>Willing to give Spike’s reinterpretation the benefit of the doubt. (Especially after the recent trailer which makes it look a hell of a lot better than we all thought it was gonna be). But like, how does anybody even come close to topping something like this?
]]>Had Rise of Skywalker never existed, Disney declaring Jedi Shaggy and the rest of this show as non-canon would’ve been the worst thing they’d ever done to Star Wars.
Happy May the 4th everyone!
]]>I can’t believe there are actually people out who think the ending to this is terrible, let alone the entire movie.

]]>The auramaxxing is strong with this one.
]]>Genuinely a lot better than I despite it still having a ton of the same problems Phantom Menace has from the jank dialogue to an overly convoluted and messy plot. Still, for my money most can be forgiven with music as incredible as John Williams’ (Across the Stars forever being my goat) AND this being the origin of both the Lego Anakin and Yoda death screams. They’re just so funny sounding!
]]>Peak!

]]>One of the best things about rewatching these movies for the first time in years is now being able to hear nothing but Glep from Smiling Friends whenever the Ewoks start talking fast.
]]>For as downbeat and low key kinda dreary this movie can be, the running gag of the Falcon’s hyperdrive malfunctioning up until the very end of the climax may just be the peak of the entire franchise’s comedy.
]]>Believe it or not, this is actually my first time in seeing the original 1977 theatrical cut in it’s entirety via a grainy as hell 16mm transfer on Internet Archive and unsurprisingly, it was fucking incredible shitty lightsaber effects and all. I know it goes without saying at this point, but Disney, just fucking re-release these versions of the movies on streaming and physical already. There’s literally nothing stopping you since George has been out of the picture for over a decade now and you’d make a shit-ton more money than someone like David Zaslav saves in a tax write off.
]]>Was supposed to go see to Sinners on Easter but unfortunately that didn’t end up working out. Instead I ended up celebrating another holiday that day by watching this and I honestly don’t regret it.

]]>Look guys, if you wanted to make something that would end up feeling like a $100 million dollar Nostalgia Critic skit, you could’ve at LEAST found a way to incorporate Mike Matei and Inspector Gadget into the plot.
]]>Jack Nance looking like he aged 30 fucking years between the time of Eraserhead and this movie’s release feels like the kind of thing that needs to be extensively studied yet somehow isn’t brought up by anybody.
]]>Just thinking about how many Invincible jokes I could’ve made had Steven Yuen been the protagonist instead of Robert Pattinson…
]]>Yeah, I got nothing. This shit rocked even harder the second time around.

]]>Bosko maxxing is back baybeeeeeeee
]]>I mean, this is nowhere near as good as the seven Bosko shorts I watched earlier today but it’s still aight like.
Anyways of the two, I think Infernal Affairs may be my preferred movie now, but this one’s still pretty mind-blowing in its own right if you get what I’m sayin’!
]]>Guys, I’m think I’m Boskopilled now
]]>-Liquid Snake: Are you familiar with Big Chungus?
-Snake: "Big Chungus"?
-L: Yes. Big Chungus. The world renowed meme about an oversized cartoon rabbit.
-S: What does some dumb joke have to do with your plan?
-L: Everything, Snake! This isn't about jokes. This is about legacy. Do you even know who Big Chungus is?
-S: He's...just a cartoon rabbit.
-L: Not just "some rabbit". The most famous rabbit in cinematic history. The one and only. Bugs Bunny.
-S: Bugs Bunny? The Looney Toones character?
-L: The very same. In 1941, in the peak years of the Looney Toones franchise, a cartoon was released, named "Wabbit Twouble", where Bugs Bunny faces off with his long time rival Elmer Fudd.
-L: But for just a moment, to mock the foolish Elmer Bugs inflates himself to a comically bloated form. A moment that lasts only 3.4 seconds in an 8 minute and 22 second long cartoon. 3.4 seconds. That's all the time "Big Chungus" had ever existed. And yet decades later, he would become more famous than Bugs Bunny... Despiste being Bugs Bunny himself! You see, Snake...memes control history...and I shall use the power of memes to control my own destiny!
-L: Do you honestly think Chuck Jones or Mel Blanc could have expected internet trolls to deify a character that doesn't even exist? Make him far more infamous than his own true identity as Bugs Bunny? Big Chungus lives on, as the dominant meme.
-L: And that, Snake...is what I intend to do. I will not let myself be cursed by my recessive memes.
]]>With The Departed ranking among my favorites from Scorsese as well as my general opinion on it being highly positive altogether, it was only a matter of time before I’d finally sit down and watch the thing that inspired a bulk of it’s source material and man did this not disappoint. While it’s hard to say right now on whether or not I personally prefer this to it’s American cousin. I will say that I do ultimately think that IA leaves a lot more to think about purely on a thematic level, particularly in how it depicts Tony Leung’s character’s line of work as an undercover cop becoming his own personal hell. The movie also SCREAMS post-Y2K in regards to it’s camerawork and editing style so that kind of stuff always gets extra brownie points from me. (There was also a certain track that played around the halfway mark in which portions of sounded dubiously similar to another song from Metal Gear Solid 2 as well so make of that as you will). Anyways yeah, this was pretty fantastic and if nothing else should stand as further proof on why Hong Kong Cinema is forever goated!
]]>Made up my own headcanon while watching this where Steve McQueen has actually been flunking out of high school and repeating the same grade for the past fifteen years only for it to tell me that he’s just supposed to be a normal 17 year old kid. Damn…
]]>I fucking love La La Land!
