Another huge shakeup to the pod, another post on this movie’s review page completely unrelated to the film itself.

There’s a third host again! It’s Man Carrying Thing! Us, the people of Sardonicast, have willed it! Just to get it out of the way, I’ll essentially be following many of the same as when Ralph left the podcast a year and a half ago, but in reverse. I’ll just reiterate all that here so we’re all on the same page.

First off, all the previous movies logged before Jake’s ing will not be affected by his public ratings. Those averages are representative of the era of the podcast in which they were discussed, as will all the films going forward. Though in that regard, No Country for Old Men will retroactively be considered the first film discussed in this era.

Now, as far as everyone’s favorite topic of the ranked lists go, while *technically* the podcast is now back to three hosts, and *technically* you could argue their new averages are comparable to the averages with Ralph… Jake is also his own person with his own unique taste. I feel that the average ratings and the ranked lists that compile them are reflective of the specific mixtures of tastes involved, and as such I feel it’s only right that there be, that’s right, a THIRD recommendation ranking for the new “Jake Era!” Like before I’ll wait a few episodes down the line to officially make one so there isn’t just, like, two or three films in its entirety, but it will be dropping once there are at least five entries to fill it.

Also, in case anyone’s wondering, since Jake said last episode that his top four on LB are just the four movies he’s had on his mind the most recently, I went to his personal “favorite movies” list and chose the top option there to fill his favorite slot on this , which as you all can see is It’s a Wonderful Life.

Personally, I’m excited for this new direction! I’ve enjoyed the pod in the interim since Ralph’s departure but I’ll it to also missing the three person dynamic. Coincidentally, I’ve been a fan of Jake for at least a year or so now through his skits and was pleasantly surprised to see him appear as a guest. Well, I’m sure you all can guess how I feel about him being a new host. I think he gets along great with the other guys, and personally, I’m happy we’ve got some American representation back on the show 💪🇺🇸🦅 (and judging by his activity, hopefully we can get some more classics recommended in be future… 👀).
