MERVE DIZDAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ngl there is a LOT going on in the three hours this film spans - and every minute is enjoyable. having watched the teachers' lounge (2023) the last week as part of the film festival, i couldn't help but notice the similarities between Oskar and Sevim here - students who turn against teachers they once ired, idolised and possibly we're infatuated with. and their behaviour towards them being a nonchalant defiance, like they…

honestly, she would have been better off living with the Cullens (like, did she even try going for animal blood instead??? sheesh)

anyway, NONE OF Y'ALL TOLD ME THEY WERE (CANADIAN) FRENCH????????

this was cute, was kind of worried about the humour being like what we do in the shadows (and I'm saying this as someone who ADORES the film and the show) but thankfully that wasn't the case.

to conclude: I am Once Again asking......me and who 😭😭

Memory - a word that has different, or probably opposite, meanings for our two protagonists. and yet you can't help but root for things to work out for the both of them, together.

dementia is heartbreaking and helpless - saying this as someone who lost a grandparent to dementia. it's tough enough for people around them to experience but i can't imagine how hard it is for people suffering from it. peter sarsgaard was brilliant…

the GUY WHO DIDN'T KNOW THERE'D BE BALLOONS meme but it was me not knowing there'd be oppenheimer star MATT DAMON?????

anyway, kept alternating between going Save Me Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan Save me throughout so the film succeeded on that front (love them individually but the t slay....... impeccable). found it a bit underwhelming otherwise but that's probably on me having high expectations lol. it was still fun, why lie.

tfw you finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.............

i was not sure what I was expecting but it surprised me so much! wasn't expecting it to be as funny, romantic and stunning. to watch josh o'connor have an existential crisis by literally trying to dig out the meaning and purpose and source of fulfillment, of life itself, can be something so personal. loved it.

it was good.....at least the performances were, otherwise found the film a bit all over the place. there was A Lot going on and I kind of wished they would have stuck to discussing religion because that topic itself is so vast.

anyway, TOLKIEN APPEARANCE!!!!!!!

GORAN STOLEVSKI YOU ARE SO LOVED!!!

granted this is his third film and i've only watched Of An Age (that I love so much), but i genuinely love his style of filmmaking and writing - whether it be opening a film with a spectacular dance sequence or the loud, stubborn but lovable women (and equally quiet gay dudes), and just a very touching story at it's heart. so looking forward to his next project!

ngl my eyes welled up at the end and I was silently sobbing in my seat as the credits rolled, not upset by anything or overjoyed but just so emotional by it all.

this was a beautiful experience - everything and everyone involved in this were amazing! shoutout to sakura ando, who i loved in godzilla minus one and more so here. and of course, that lovely score by ryuichi sakamoto, that just adds to…

fifteen minutes into the film we realised the subtitles weren't working because that's when yo also have the first dialogue spoken - and that was quickly resolved by the guys restarting the film with the subtitle track on. and rather than being annoyed or inconvenienced, i was actually glad that happened because the opening sequence, even though it's just the trees and eiko ishibashi's haunting score, had enchanted me, so it was a treat for…

this definitely wasn't what I was expecting, even based off the trailers - but in a good way! compelling how everything just escalates so quickly - and you don't even know who to feel sorry for. at least for me anyway, I felt bad for everyone in the film. you feel yourself become a witness and participant in the film's events, experiencing the same stress and frustration as the characters do, all of it just…

kind of insane how much i ended up adoring powell and pressburger's work after only having watched like, 4 of their films. and to watch a filmmaker whose work I geek out over aka martin scorsese geek out over their work, as someone who grew up watching them and using them as an inspiration for his own work, was a surreal experience.

there's so much respect for both powell and pressburger in the way marty…
