Dark and poignant. A fascinating exploration of dualities - as often with von Trotta - and the complexities that roam from and between the poles. Film after film I keep thinking von Trotta deserves to be recognised as one of the greats of her time...

Not too sure what to think, it's just very fucked up. I tried feeding a friend via text on the plot, which laid bare sounded even more ridiculous than it felt while watching it.

A straight up portrait of toxicity, imo, enacted through twisted power relations and psychological grip and manipulation, with little sense of (my) reality when it comes to human relations. Hard to understand all the praises - I don't see seduction anywhere in this film. That being said, the moods, the confusion game developed in the script and the writing are quite remarkable. The last shot makes the film, and wraps it up in a line used to describe mariage, sacred in a "beautifully sordid way". Sadly, I mainly saw the sordid.

This film is so bad I was furious. Maybe the director will take this as a success?
