- I usually don't like sex scenes in films, but I found the one the film ends with beautiful, I actually started crying (mainly because I know it can be hard to learn to enjoy sex as a woman when you're from a culture that shames it)

- It's a clear indicator of the failure of the german goverment's immigrant integration policy that there's an entire industry based on hymen reconstruction.

- "Are you the woman you want to be?", oh shit, I'm gonna stay up all night trying to answer this question

Like in Shoplifters, Kore-eda makes us question what makes a family. Is it blood? Love? The time spent together?

But he goes further here, by highlighting the much greater impact of the environment we grow up in, compared to our genetics.

Biological reproduction takes a few minutes, while social reproduction takes years.

Young Keita is polite, has perfect table manners, was prepared for his prestigious (probably private) primary school's entrance exam, which would lead him straight to a prestigious university…

This film took 0 risks.
The whole premise is supposed to be about a muslim lesbian girl torn between her (homophobic) faith and her sexual orientation, but all we get is 10 seconds of an imam reminding the audience that islam isn't the only homophobic religion, so are its big brothers judaism and christianity (classic whataboutism), then he basically says that being a lesbian is bad, but not as bad as being a gay guy, either way you gotta pray…

Sinners has reconciled me with horror films!

I just can't decide which lesson to take from this film:
- Don't invite a white person to a party, especially if they're into country music? (I myself like country)
- Racism can be overcome if we all a hive mind?
- Mass shootings and murders in cinema can be immensly satisfying if the ones getting shot are KKK .
- Certain religions, such as christianity (and islam) have spread mainly due…

I laughed almost as much as I cried, and I'm even more in love with Hiam Abbass than before

Tatami

Some people disliked or complained about the film because it's not talking about the elephant in the room (everyone's favourite genocidal regime since 1948), but sorry to break the news, iranian women and their struggles deserve to have films made about them, without "sharing the spotlight" with other issues, no matter how important these issues may be.

Tatami is a good film about brave women standing up to an extremely oppressive regime, women being ive towards each other, and last but not least, a hot ive husband.
