Robo Balboa’s review published on Letterboxd:
Wonkier than I ed, and it doesn’t help that the tech has aged so quickly, the sentimental ending is still good, but the script feels sleight and missing some pieces that could have really taken advantage of the concept.
Reminded me a lot of Deja Vu, but not nearly as exciting or fun.
Also, I hate the whole “inhabiting another person’s body” thing, because it opens too many doors in this one - none of which are good, and secondly I feel like in this instance Jake would be the real Sean and another actor should be the real Colter.
It doesn’t make sense that we see him as Jake Gyllenhaal other than just we want to recognize the main protagonist, but everyone else sees him as the other no-name actor from Quebec, and that’s not fair to Michelle Monaghan who doesn’t know she’s hooking up with Jake Gyllenhaal!
