I half-ed this as a wacky “caveman in modern times” comedy, but instead it’s like BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS meets KING KONG, with the downbeat ending & unlikeable characters that implies.

Kiel’s probably the only actor of any talent here, and the tonal shifts are bizarre. “I’m was nearly sexually assaulted by a caveman.” “But, babe, you walked out on my low-energy rewrite of ‘Tequila’!”

Watched MST3k version but it doesn’t hide the bleakness.

I'm glad that Irene Dunne gets to turn the tables on Melvyn Douglas' character. Otherwise, this wouldn't be as funny.

It’s nice to see a new stop-motion Christmas special, but other than that, it’s pretty harmless and toothless and doesn’t overstay its welcome. It’ll do until my son is old enough for “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas”
